uh I don't know

So many things I don't know. However since I also don't know my limitations I'll just share my opinions on those things anyway.

Attention: If you are reading this right now, you maybe eligible to leave a comment below.

Now for a mind bending exercise try lifting these thoughts of mine higher.

Really I should just relax, lighten-up and do the hustle (the hustle told us to "do it" long before Nike).

lucky fragments

This blog of mine is not narrowly focused on anything. The Friday Fragments post by design is not focused. Thus, I have enjoyed posting many FF posts over the years. This last summer, the FF meme/blog-game/linky-thingy(?) was handed off to a different blogger. This is the 13th FF under her new leadership. Thus this round will be the luckiest one.

My general unfocused theme is "Lighten up" - enjoy my fragmented post. There’s a few more fragmented posts linked over at the blog A Star In My Own Universe, check it out.

drained

The other caption I had from the above picture was "down the tubes". I should probably lighten up on my attention to market news. I had wished the "Fed" would have just bit the bullet and raised their interest rate a slight amount this week. Get it over with, I figure is better. You probably heard they didn't, so now we can expect weeks of "expert" speculation on when they will. It's getting to be a bad joke.

How about some bad puns? If you happen to be on Facebook you probably know that the stuff being shared there can be upsetting, annoying, and political.

Recently I ran across a FB post which was not a family picture (the reason I joined FB) but was still fun. Maybe you also will enjoy the list of puns it offered.

... When fish are in schools, they sometimes take debate.   (helps if you read with a Chicago da Bears accent)
... When the smog lifts in Los Angeles U.C.L.A.
... The batteries were given out free of charge.
... A dentist and a manicurist married. They fought tooth and nail.
... When you've seen one shopping center you've seen a mall.
... Police were summoned to a daycare center where a three-year-old was resisting a rest.
... He had a photographic memory which was never developed.  (I wish my photographic memory developed better memories)... When she saw her first strands of grey hair she thought she'd dye.

best post ever

Not really but then can we really judge our own posts?

Besides I don’t want you judging me.

Lighten up - enjoy my fragmented post. There’s a few more fragmented posts linked over at the blog A Star In My Own Universe, check it out.

She gave us great laughs

My last post included some dismal words about the stock market. Wow the crazy days offered up by that wild circus.

As I often do when I find myself in times of trouble, mother ---

No I play some music and changed the lyrics in head. The following verse didn’t even need much changing as I watched the market plunge:

And so it was that later
As the market turned a big sale
That my face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale

Sometimes you just need to skip the market fandango.

don't cry

Eric Zorn of the Chicago Tribune listed the following in his tweets of the week.
"Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near? Just like me, they long to eat your sandwiches,"

Last weekend I took four of the grandkids for a walk over to a recently rebuilt park in the neighborhood. (I really can not remember any new playground equipment showing up in my youth - how ‘bout you?) It was a nice day.

While pushing one of our granddaughters on the swing, she threw her head back and yelled, “best day ever.”

I remarked, “Really? It is a great day but your best day ever?”

She told me Rapunzel shouted this in a movie. After looking up a clip of the movie (something no one could do back during my youth) I realized why she made the connection with the movie.

do we need a fragment app

Not really, Friday Fragment posts can be just off-the-top-of-your-head stuff. If you have a dry idea don’t sweat it, just write it. No odor either. Click over to A Star In My Own Universe blog to find more FF postings.

Now this smartphone life is still new to me, so excuse me for still mentioning it. Of course, you may have missed my posts about flipping my old flip phone for a smartphone (interested? here’s the link).

now I'm snapping pics where I don't need to

Hey do you (those of you who are old enough to know ABBA) think this “voice message” on a text has gone full circle? I now have the technology to attach a voice message to a text. Why not just call and leave a voicemail instead?

Oh the texting I've missed. Today I was caught in the reply-all trap. Those handy (?) group texts most often default to reply-all replies. I replied with a few questions that really should have gone to just one person. A good rule for me is to check for questions. If my reply has them most likely it should be directed to just one person.

How many times have you needed to delete a post on FB left by a "friend" on your wall (do we still call it a wall?) ? If not very often, then you should friend my brother, you’ll see.

Oh BTW, I refuse to load FB on my smartphone. All my FB’ing is done via laptop or my wife tells what posts she has seen.

I do believe the one useful, must-have app is a navigation tool. I used Google maps and it worked great.

On a recent trip coming home, when we had about 4 hours to go. She-with-the-decisions decide to fit in a trip to her mom’s place. Google maps with the traffic loaded made it easier to pull off (not pull off the road but pull off the change in plans).

Periodic table vs. Your kitchen table.

Everything you eat at the kitchen table is created (grown or made) from elements from the periodic table. Mostly hydrogen, carbon and oxygen. However the periodic table lacks any element called fat or sugar. Weight gain must not be very elementary. Hey I'm not chemist but I enjoyed a good mixer once.

rainy fragments

Is rain just fragments of a passing cloud?
Are clouds the result of oceans exhaling?

Well who knows, not me. I do know that with Friday Fragment posts you can ask these off-the-wall, off-the-top-of-my-head, out-of-the-blue type questions. Click over to A Star In My Own Universe to find more FF postings.

More fragmented thought:

Happiness - I believe it’s personal thing that can spread when we share it. However, sharing it on social media probably has the opposite effect for others. I theorize it needs to be share in person in the real world.

The other day felt like I went to the circus but was seated in the cheap seats. Lots of commotion but couldn’t see a thing.

Oh did you happen to see my last post about getting a smartphone?  It was a big deal for me since I've held out this many years with just a simple flip phone.

Back in 2010 I learned that Bubble Wrap was celebrating its 50th birthday.  Here's link to that old post.

Simple addition tells me that celebrated being 55 this year.  I went over to their "Bubble Wrap Fun" web site and found a few guys being happy with bubble wrap:

wah wah fragments

My being mathematically inclined once (most of my fun differential equations solving is in the far past) I believe, could be the source of my discontent with the way the words “random” and “tons” are used today. Not like a headache producing discontent.(George Harrison called a headache a wah wah - more about that later). No big deal compared to the many other serious world problems, but still, c'mon, current usage of those words doesn't make sense.  They seem to have replaced "spontaneous" and "many/lots".

Here’s a perfect bad example: The Friday Fragment posts are fun to write since you can include tons of random thoughts. (how can you weigh a thought? integrate it?)

Who am I to nit pick another generation's lexicon?  Our baby boomer speak became too far out to be cool and lost it's chill factor.  The Laugh-in show told the censors, "Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls!"  Slang will always be constantly changing.

Slang is not as bad biz/corporate speak. Biz speak -
"We remain constructive on the long-term outlook … reflects an overly conservative scenario."
Why don’t they just say “We don’t think we are going to hell-in-a-handbasket anytime soon?

How about an overly radical scenario? If you live in Chicagoland you know the big overblown Grateful Dead Concert was talked and written about for months. Not being a deadhead, I had no problem skipping this crowded overpriced event.

I really don’t remember why but I listened to the old song, Wah Wah this week. That lead me to ask myself this odd question:

Was a wah wah pedal used in the Wah Wah song?

Such an important question to occupy my idle mind.  I was fairly sure it was used, but today, with the vast internet, odd questions can be answered with supporting facts. Wikipedia has a lengthy background on George Harrison’s Wah Wah song. Here’s the line from it that answered my question:
The recording begins with Harrison's guitar riff, which is then joined by Clapton's guitar, played through a wah-wah pedal.

The song was written by George immediately after leaving the Beatles. It has good advice at the end.
Now I don't need no wah-wah's
And I know how sweet life can be
If I keep myself free - of wah-wah
I don't need no wah-wah

Don’t give me a wah wah. Instead give me a comment.

it's back -- Friday Fragments

Mrs. 4444’s has decided to age her Wisconsin cheese (sorry I felt it my Illinois duty to make one last cheese joke) and pass on the Friday Fragment meme duties. The FF meme has been picked up by A Star in My Own Universe. (I do like the science reference in her blog name) This will be her first hosting so click over to her site and pitch in and help with your linked post.

LMAT Lisleman’s Meaningful Advice and Thoughts: (to my surprise LMAT also stands for the Livermore Metagenomic Analysis Toolkit which I’m guessing is probably more beneficial to mankind.)

~ My body has been running for more than half a million hours! For years now it runs with a tire around the middle. It is so easy to get a flat on my car why can’t my body tire go flat as easily?

~ Adjusting to retirement is easier if you tend to be lazy. (now don't tell me this is related to the last one about the body tire)

~ Recently on a road trip through Kentucky - Passed a woman adjusting a store sign on the side of the road. Her sign highlighted, ice cream, haircut, massage, and waxing. We didn’t stop. The ice cream sounded good but I would worry about finding hair or wax as a special topping.

~ Cleaning the garage does not qualify as a hobby.

~ unfurl - why do we unfurl more than we furl? You’re so young. You don’t know ABBA.

Wait there's more - Here's news-you-probably-missed:

Don Featherstone  pic from Associated Press

The creator of the plastic pink flamingo lawn ornament has pass on.  He was 79. All lawn flamingos will stand on one leg in tribute.  Oh wait they already do that.

Potbelly adds pulled pork sandwich
If this menu doesn’t go well it will make an interesting future headline; “Potbelly pulls pulled pork sandwich”. BBQ pulled pork rates high in my list of sandwiches. Do you have a list of sandwiches? Would you like a list? Myself I would rather have a sandwich than a list.

As I said in a recent post - ramble on.

Fragments of the shorter kind

More posts of the fragmented nature can be found at Mrs. 4444’s blog.

Not much for my Friday Fragment post this time. I just want to report on a funky discovery I made on youtube. As I have mentioned before, youtube is great for looking up oldies and covers of oldies. Many of the descriptions provide good background info and even lyrics occasionally.

A few of you might remember Sly and Family Stone. I enjoyed many of their songs but I don’t recall owning any of their albums. Had I owned these albums I would have already known the odd/funny spelling/word choice for a hit song title: Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin

...
Thank you for the party
But I could never stay
Many thangs is on my mind
Words in the way
I want to thank you falettinme
Be mice elf agin
Thank you falettinme
Be mice elf agin

I tried this change your yearbook pic site once

Back when I was still enjoying the newness of FB, I found a site that would easily change a normal picture to something odd. I didn’t really use the resulting photo. But for some unknown reason I saved it. Actually I saved two of them.

So while I’m not very funky
I do want to
Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin

disneyfy my fragments

Close encounters of the fragment kind. Are you old enough to remember that sci-fy movie? Please enjoy your close encounter with my fragments of thought. More posts of the fragmented nature can be found at Mrs. 4444’s blog.

Do you go back and review your own old posts? I suspect most bloggers do at times. A blog does serve as a record. Today I was browsing through a few old posts and came across a post about this interesting blog I had found. Was it still there?, I wondered. Yes, it still offers up the same interesting pictures as it did before. The blog is called Awesome People Hanging Out Together (I included the link if you wish to click on the name).

Here’s a recent picture from the site. The blonde that Bill Hader appears to be dropping on her head is Amy Poehler. The pictures are posted with just the celebrities identified. No explanation. What do you think happen to create this scene? Did Amy just suddenly leap into the air?

The following celebrities are goofing off in this picture, Andy Samberg, Nick Offerman and wife Megan Mullally, Adam Scott, Bill Hader, Bill Murray, Paul Rudd, and Amy Poehler

It occurred to me the other day that much more of my life has been lived in the 20th century. I don’t realistically expect to be around in my upper nineties so I’ll always be a last century man. Some days I’m as mixed up as a vegetarian cattle rancher. Then there are days I’m off my mental reservation. Would those be the better days to blog?

Smartphone people - all swipe and no talk.

Disneyfy
I don’t know if it is an official word. Disney (that big media company) has disneyfied many stories and even animals. That’s not all bad depending on the age of the audience. I suppose cute dwarfs living together in the forest is fine for childhood fantasies. Hopefully as an adult, one would know not to address a real person with the dwarfism medical condition as Happy or Sleepy. Also, many of the old folk tales would not be politically correct today. I do remember getting a book of original folk tales and discovering that some of the stories were not so appropriate for our kids night time reading.

The reason I mention this is my recent discovery of foot mutilation in the Brother Grimm's tale of Cinderella. The wonderful internet will quickly produce many references to original versions of the Cinderella story that include the stepmother instructing her daughter to cut their foot (toe heel) so the slipper will fit. The stepmother tells them once they are queen they will not need to walk.

While I would not want to discuss this type of thinking with young children, I do think older teens might benefit from a discussion of extreme actions like this. Also, I find it very interesting and puzzling that the original tales would include it.

Oh maybe this will help you remember that movie:

Fragmentize Friday

Holy toast almighty, I’ve missed a Friday Fragment posting or two or three? My last Friday Fragment confession was .., oh never mind. If you really care go over to Mrs. 4444’s blog (keeper of FF posts) and figure it out.

Think about this trivia - The Puritans loaded more beer than water onto the Mayflower before they cast off for the New World (link). Probably the biggest reason alcoholic drinks were preferred over water back then was the lack of clean sanitary water. This of course is why it makes sense to bring an ample supply of beer on any fishing trip into the wilderness.

In ancient Babylon, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead (fermented honey beverage) he could drink for a month after the wedding. Because their calendar was lunar or moon-based, this period of free mead was called the "honey month," or what we now call the "honeymoon."

While I was in Ireland I tried some mead at a medieval castle. It tasted awful.  Give me an ancient beer anytime.

a good stout

While Days of Our Lives pass As The World Turns, I wonder about The Young and The Restless. All My Children are grown adults now but occasionally they do seem to be restless. Of course, we only have One Life to Live so we must pay attention.

I’m developing my skill of wild speculation. Hair - I believe my hair has become racist. The white hair appears to be driving my dark brown hair out of the neighborhood.

Ok, sure this hair-brained idea is far fetched. If you need to go far to fetch something doesn’t that make the thing and fetching more valuable?

Well regardless, I do believe I’m becoming a curmudgeon (note - remember to practice the pronunciation - don’t want to be a dumb curmudgeon). I found this insightful guide to curmudgeonship. Also, don't you think that curmudgeons often present quite a sight?

It’s your thing.
Do what you want to do now.
It’s your comment.
Write what you want to write.

hazy fragments

I'm sure most of you are totally finished with this hazy shade of winter. Bring on the spring!

I can't do anything about winter or spring, but I can bring on the fragments.

And look around you, the leaves are brown now,
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter.
Hang on to your fragments, my friend.
That's an easy thing to say but if your fragments should pass away,
simply pretend, that you can post them again.
(Mrs. 4444 has been collecting them every week so there is always next week.)

big display but no color, music, or video

Killer apps - what exactly do they kill? Oh wait wait don’t tell me, time.

Bought my wife a mood ring (sorta nostalgic). I don’t think it works. When she is in a good mood it turns green but when she is a bad mood it leaves a red mark on my face.

the funny hatasaurs
Wow the internet was strange the other week. Madonna took a spill in a show and broke twitter, 2 llamas got loose in Arizona and the chase was better than OJ Simpson in a Bronco, Facebook and twitter went nuts over the color of a dress.

My old laptop (Macbook pro) doesn’t wake up very well anymore. Either a frozen screen or the WiFi drops. A reboot typically works out the problem. Since I am a seasoned veteran of the internet (old fart) and can recall the sound of a good dial-up connection it’s only a minor annoyance.  I can relate.

Had a strange dream the other night. This lion crashes through a window and devours a piano player. I don’t remember what song he was playing. So added to my morning ritual was the puzzle of why a pianist-eating lion invaded my dream. Then I remembered, I watched a nature documentary on lions before bed.

Funny, I've been there and you've been here And we ain't had no time to drink that beer
Points for the song title with those lyrics.

still looking for the right piece

Eating taters with tots is much better than eating tater tots. Better tater than never. Any of you remember when I wrote about Isabelle Tolling and Holly Moses? (a link to remind you)

I might try to expand on that story. I’m curious to learn what readers think of my attempts to be witty. I’m not sure how this muse thing should work (in other words it’s Greek to me?). Calliope was a muse but I’m not amused and often feel used. Well amuse me and leave a comment.

Oh for those readers that need a lyrics hint or just want to listen to a good oldie - take a listen:

flashing fragments

Fragments flash like sun rays filtered by the spinning windmill of memory.

Fooled you? Thought I might compose some articulation of my mental images? Nah.

It’s time for Friday Fragments. The renown fragment flasher, Mrs. 4444 offers her blog as a collection site of your fragments.

I often find great words blowin' in the blogs, so check out the other contributors at her site.

fancy flashing pants

I remember when flashing involved a strange-sense-of-humor guy being chased at a sporting event and not menopausal women.

Do you enjoy funny birthday cards? I do. Compared to the more sentimental ones, I prefer funny. Often funny doesn’t even need words. A funny or inside-joke picture can generate a laugh.

from the cover a recent B-day card

As I was writing this post my Lisleman Llama alert went off (note - develop loose llama alert app). Llamas on the loose in Arizona!! I recall the big news story a year or so ago about their law that allowed Arizona law enforcement to ask anyone for documentation. Do you think these two llamas had their documents in order? They certainly are avoiding arrest. Nothing like a good llama chase and lassoing llamas.

What do you think? Criminal llamas?

UPDATE: Both llamas have been brought into custody.

fragments are tax free

Many fragments might have frozen this week. I heard from one weather report that this arctic cold mass came from Russia. What, a new twist to a cold war?

Being further north than me, I suspect Mrs. 4444 dealt with even colder days than us. As long as the cold winter weather doesn’t kill your power or internet connection, I suggest you browse over to her blog. Maybe her fragments might need warming.

It was nice being able to watch some entertaining TV this week. The SNL-40 event last Sunday was great. I first watched SNL back when I was in USAF. Back in the mid 70’s I pulled shift duty for a communication center. Most night shifts were slow (no wars breaking out) so we had a TV running to be sure we stayed awake. I really enjoy the SNL humor, especially parodies of commercials.

Then on Monday night there was the tribute to Stevie Wonder. One of the newer performers (new to me anyway) is Gary Clark Jr.  A very talented guitar player. So many great Stevie Wonder songs performed in that tribute.

Today we have the benefit of youtube for watching many of these performances. Any follower of this blog probably knows I’m a big youtube watcher. Jimmy Fallon tells a good (slightly long) story about the SNL 40 night and its afterparty - here’s the clip link.

Ah sometimes I grow so tired.
But I know I’ve got one thing I got to do. Taxes.
Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To file my taxes.

I must tell myself to keep calm and ramble on.

One thing much better than taxes is buttermilk pancakes with my wife's homemade blueberry sauce.

I collected those clip art images from a google docs add-on called Openclipart. (If you use google docs you just need to open “Get add-ons” under the “Add-ons” menu. I found going to the site openclipart.org works good too.)

Saint Friday Fragment

It could happen. You have a good fragment of a thought and it falls into the digital cracks of the internet. Well if you like poking around the nooks and crannies of the web then browse over to Mrs. 4444’s blog around the end of the week. You discover plenty of links to fragments of thought.

not my thinking cap

BTW - what exactly is a cranny? Do grannies have more crannies?

“wear your heart on your sleeve” - I recently learned this phrase comes from the time of Saint Valentine. (from the Smithsonian site)

In the Middle Ages, Emperor Claudius II (he executed the priest Valentine on Feb. 14) believed unattached men made better soldiers and like all good emperors he needed a vast supply of soldiers.  So he declared marriage illegal.  As a concession, he encouraged temporary coupling (modern term hookups?).  Once a year, during a Roman festival honoring Juno, men drew names (very romantic of those Romans) to determine who would be their lady friend for the coming year.  Once established, the man would wear her name on his sleeve for the rest of the festival.

I say wear your heart on your blog.

the belfie - have you heard? Hint, it rhymes with selfie. At first, I thought belly pictures and I certainly have plenty of belly to show. No I was wrong, it’s the backside. Actually there is a product (currently sold out?) that holds your smartphone and can be bent to capture your great behind. I’m not sure cameras on sticks holds much promise for our future.  What do I know?  I just know I'm constantly amazed by what sells.

Now squirrels giving up on the bird feeders, that’s a picture worth sharing.  Enjoy my squirrely.

Hi ho hi ho -  hi oh ouch, even these lego guys have smoother moves than me.

Not so deep thoughts:
I do believe positive thinking works much better than negative thinking. However, you do need to connect both the negative and positive to get your battery charged. Just saying, I have no idea if it means anything.

I cut through a strawberry field once. It was a bit like a strawberry shortcut.

Don’t leave me this way, don’t let me down, leave a comment instead.

line up your fragments

Hey kids it's time for Friday Fragments.  If FF continues into the future (I hope it does Mrs. 4444 is now on number 339) it will need to become an app.  Every time I turn around I see a big app.  Big apps all around us these days.

BTW, did you know that Mrs. 4444's blog has an archive of the FF posts with links back to all of them?

Well your apps might be expanding but toilet paper is shrinking.  Who knew?  According to this article, a square was 4.5 by 4.5 inches.  I measured a sheet and found it's not square anymore.  Only 4 inches wide.  I thought I might write more about it but need more throne sitting contemplation for that.

This week, I used a term in a post that I don’t hear much anymore, ding-a-ling. I have no research knowledge but I suspect body part slang probably changes quicker than most. When did “junk” get its new body part meaning? Does this mean you could add an ‘s’ to drawer and get a completely different meaning for junk drawers? If someone emails a picture of their junk is that a new type of junk mail? I don’t even want to complete my next thought - junk food.  Let's move on.

In other random news - passersby join in to save the local beer delivery schedule from falling behind.

football fragments less than super

The big game is almost here.  It seems the superbowl gets more super every year.  Not that the game itself is getting better.  There has a been many years when the game wasn't a close match and slightly boring.  There is really two competitions - football and ads.

This blog has some international readers and I'm curious what they think of our hyped-up superbowl game.  Please leave comments below.

I don't suspect there will be a superbowl of Friday Fragment posts.  Mrs. 4444's blog would be the place.  I'm please FF posting is not competitive.  I like relaxed posting for the fun of posting.

an ad from a superbowl long ago

Are you serving deflated balls at your superbowl party? This NFL Patriots ball controversy - All I know during my career I hated working with guys that had over-inflated balls. They were typically full of hot air and BS too.

Here’s a funny play on the deflated balls I found on youtube:

How big is heaven? Plenty of room to move around and check out new people and places? I hope so. Perhaps it would be best if she-who-owns-our-calendar and I don’t both end up there at the same time. We could use a little break. Our modest home has been our home over our whole marriage. Now I spend more time within its walls than ever. The cold of winter makes it more confining than the rest of the year. Business travel use to offer breaks occasionally during the year. I’m sure whoever arrives in heaven first will greet the second one with “what the $#&% are you doing here already?”.

I've hit a recent low on new ideas.  While pondering I recalled that it has been over a year (fall of 2013) since my last gadget video clip.  Well let me know if I have dropped even lower.  My first 2015 clip:

Regular readers know I love trying my hand on a parody. I don’t typically mess with recent hits but I might.

does a friday fragment you

At the end of most any week you will find me posting fragments for Mrs. 4444 blog's collection of Friday Fragments. I did it again.

very honest student

I forget where I saw the above picture of a science fair poster. It gave me a good laugh and I downloaded it.  I think I found it on FB.  The chart should show the vertical and horizontal scales but I suspect the shape of the curve is correct.  The yelling and crying would go up exponentially as the due date nears.

I often remember odd things about bloggers I follow.  Does anyone recall that Lisleman was a science fair judge two plus years ago?  Here's that post.

when the men on the chessboard

My caller ID shows I got a call from “FINAL NOTICE”. I’ve found that final notices are not very often final. I would not be surprised if “FINAL NOTICE” calls again. If they do call, I might answer and give them my name as C. F. Eyecare.

get up and tell you where to go

To all my smart app friends I feel bad that your neck is strained from looking at your app so much. texting pain in neck report

and you just had some kind of mushroom

I enjoy grilled mushrooms on steak or a good burger.
Did my post get your mind is moving? Ooooh, go ask Alice I think she will know.

Oh don’t go chasing rabbits. Consider this your FINAL NOTICE.

fragments of a story

Thanks for reading my post. Would you like fragments with that?

I admit I got hooked on this Friday Fragment posting idea years ago. Mrs. 4444’s blog host a collection of FF postings. The idea is very simple with few rules.

Unlike the possibility of being a few fries short of a happy meal, you can’t be a few fragments short of a FF post. There is no minimum number of fragments. I don’t think I’ve ever posted with just one fragment but occasionally like today I post less than a handful. If by some lucky star (share a lucky star there are so many) you haven’t read one of my FF posts before, there are many here just click this link.

haven't yet read a scary FF post

I went missing from our connected world the other evening for 4 hours. I knew where I was, at my brother’s house. The problem was I left my phone in the car. Due to a long story of circumstances and one daughter’s failed attempts to reach me, it escalated into a neighbor needing to come into our house to check for me. She did discover my car was gone after which the ad hoc posse thought of checking with my brother.

We share house keys with a few neighbors. How about you?

are ice heads common in the North?

Someone out there is always pushing for a change. Often the change is a good thing but this one I just read about is certainly odd. Minnesota wants to leave the Midwest. Most Americans don’t spend much time thinking about our geographical regions. Well maybe a long Minnesota winter will cause you to do that. What do people think about sitting in an icehouse in the middle of a frozen lake?

The regions are typically broken out as; the Northeast, the South, the West and the Midwest. I would add Northwest and Texas (is Texas the South or Southwest or just Texas?). Anyway did you notice “the North” is not commonly used (unless you still consider yourself a Confederate). Minnesota wants to claim the region name, the North.

My old printer that died in last week (mentioned in last week's FF post) is now in fragments. I will try to find a use (not necessarily practical, maybe just silly) for its motors.  The plastics were recycled.

Well if you give a fragment, then check out the FF collection:
