which-a-call-it Lisleman

Note: you may want to play the clip included at the bottom while you read/sing my version.

I am a blogger not a mountie and I post a good quip
Searchin' in the net for another viral clip
I hear you singin' on youtube, you sound better though wine

I know I need a small vacation, or I’ll be going insane
And if it snows that stretch down south I won't shovel, too much strain
And I post it more than tweet it, and I browse around all time

I’ve never met Jimmy Webb but his songs bring back fond memories. One of his very different than this one is stranger and longer. (see my post on his MacArthur Park song).

photo transmogrification

This is the first time I've ever used the word, transmogrification.  Hopefully, I got it right.

I have fun modifying photos.  Most often the photos are ones I have taken.  I have also combined parts of my photos with other photos.  Often it's just the addition of words and a little cropping.

For your enjoyment here are a few examples:

Just a few photos for the link-up  Unknown Mami's blog.

from the hammock

I’m trying something new and cool (if the weather stays this way). My first post from my hammock via the power of wi-fi and laptops.

The smartphone twitter world of today is filled with acronyms. Many of the ones I learn to use over the years came from the military (ASAP, AWOL). I suspect social media and texting will generate even more. Tell me what you think of my play on acronyms and please share your own versions in the comment section. (oh I did these before dinner)

not a super bowl ad

Great Super Bowl tonight. I like a close finish. I've posted about how social media has influenced the release of the ads this year more than ever.

However, did you notice the word "not" in the post title?  This short post is about an "ad" I created for my A Few Clowns Short blog.  If you take time to watch it (2 min.) please let me know what you think.  I consider some of my other youtube clips to be better.

Oh did you know I had a few more youtube clips.  You can find most of them here.

This past week, Barbara over at Long Hollow posted a question/answer on the topic of "electrifying emotions".  Being an electrical engineer my training kicked off ideas about real electricity in addition to invigorated inspiration.

My answer contains both electricity and creativity.  I like to create odd "toys" from pieces out of the recycle bin.  Combine an old CD player motor, plastic lids and a very fresh batteries and you get junk in motion.  LED lights from old cellphones add to the display.  Here's one such creation:

Oh if I still have your attention, I occasionally post my blogging thoughts over on I Can't Blog (It's the eye ball blog)

dumb and dumber go boating

Just a quick post about a funny/stupid/strange youtube clip I stumbled on.

I have never been to this beach.  In fact, I had to replay the video to pickup where this fun in the sun took place.

It takes place in Grand Bend Canada (being just over the border don't assume dumb and dumber are Canadian but it does seem that they may have grown up in the back woods wilderness) which is on Lake Huron.  Apparently they have never heard of a boat ramp or why people use them.

I thought oh maybe there are no boat ramps nearby.  Well just a few minutes (maybe they don't know about internet searching) of searching and I found a few marinas with boat ramps.  Clicking around I even found a web cam of one of the boat ramps (you'll never see these idiots on that web cam).

This clip is long.  About 9-10 minutes.  But the action starts right away and plot thickens quickly.  I suggest you stick around for the tractors to show up.  They are really the stars of the show.

Also if you start to go numb in the brain while watching, fast forward to the end part which has a good view of the first SUV that started the whole thing.

Confused?  Just watch the clip.

I started a blog

which started the whole world facebook joining
...

Oh wait, stop. I should try that again.

I started a blog which started the whole world replying
But I didn’t see oh no, that the blog hooked me, oh no

I started to write which started the whole world reading
Oh, if I’d only seen oh no, that the blog hooked me

I looked at you tube, planning a ride down the Danube
And I fell out of bed, dropping like lead from words that I spread

til I finally died which started the backed up work flowing
Oh if I’d only seen oh no, that the blog was all about me.

Did you sing along? Maybe I can ruin another one.

And it's me you need to show.  How deep is your comment?

Crystal balls and

other things I don’t have.

There are many types of balls to bounce, throw, and roll. Even better than your mother’s meatballs or my aunt’s rum balls are the crystal ones that provide predictions. I don’t have one.

Hold that thought.

(A big shiny ball)

Please enjoy Lisleman’s blogger predictions that I just pulled out of my …

  • Mrs. 4444 (who will be keeping the same number of 4s) will get some fame for sighting Big-Foot up in Wisconsin. It will turn out to be a fragment of her imagination and a slight embarrassment when she later discovers it was the hairy neighbor down the road.
  • Unknown Mami, who commented once that she is a useless psychic, will be offering designer Head Bags for those that want to avoid the paparazzi and recycle paper bags.
  • OneStonedCrow will crack some rock while working on his house. A rare gem will be found in the stone. (if this does come true be sure to remember who told you. If it doesn’t and you smash a finger or toe don’t blame me. You should know better than listening to advice from a blog title “A Few Clowns Short”.)
  • Jillsy Girl will NOT change her blog title again next year. She will take a picture of a bird and create yet another blog game.
  • Blogitse will help more Americans learn that the port Casablanca really does exist and where it is.
  • Savannah will spread her southern sweetness hundreds of times during 2011 with her sugar greetings and comments.
  • Bearman will reply “I was just drawn this way.”
  • Technobabe will philosophize on life and readers will be impressed. She will be named the top blogger of ---- (fill in the name of her small town).
  • JJ of The Fifty Factor will hold a pool party and share pictures. Wine will flow. Dancers will swing. But the pool will remain fixed and in place.
  • Kristin-the-goat will discover new youtube clips to cry over. I will not understand why.

Note, I follow more blogs than the ones I subjected to my predictions. I ran out of predictions and besides if I kept going I would only get in deeper trouble and you might get tired of reading. Please share you own predictions in the comments.

Oh, still holding that thought? Ok go ahead and share it with us down in the comment section.

Happy New Year - have a ball, just don’t drop it.

how much for that tan

Getting sunburned might cost you more than pain.

Don't know if John Boehner has been told yet, but he might indebted to a Spanish woman who declared ownership of the sun.

The Time.com article quotes her as saying:
"There was no snag. I backed my claim legally. I am not stupid. I know the law," she said. "I did it but anyone else could have done it. It simply occurred to me first."
Ok maybe what she said lost something in the translation.  Really, you can just get up one day and decide you own the sun.  What are you some type of sun goddess?

Another example of "a few clowns short of circus", if you ask me.

Oh, just in case anyone starts a trend with this.  I hereby claim ownership of the black hole located at the center of our galaxy and will be sending out invoices for orbiting travel time once I figure out the rate.

I guess Sheryl Crow had the right idea when she told us to soak up the sun while it's still free.  Also people, lighten up already.

wet your depend funny

Ok I don't wear them yet but if I did I would have been wetting my depend over this parody ad:

(sorry but the video player will probably play a little ad before the fake ad - confusing eh?)

Wife and I were cracking up watching this on SNL this Saturday.

I really wish they would run this all day Thanksgiving.

(disclaimer - Depend is a registered trademark of Kimberly-Clark. I have received no depends, toilet papers, tissues, or other compensation from them for this non-endorsement)

fake ass

Recently I received one of the best text messages ever from my daughter.

"to answer ur question about how much a fake ass costs ... They’re $4.99"

Let me give you a little hindsight into this.  We were looking at some Halloween costumes and saw the clever pun-related "moon man" costume.  I wondered out loud, "what's a fake ass go for?".  Now I know.

I wanted to post this before the holiday fun was over because I don't want to make an ass of myself in November.  It's OK to do that on Halloween.

Of course when you get the answer to one question, it often generates more.  How many size options?  Are there ones with money coming out - as in "money coming out the wazoo"?  (which was one of my favorite superbowl ads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oftjwYmlfoA  )

Oh I didn't buy one yet.  I'll wait for the two for one sale.

not paid to think

Just a quick post. I got a laugh from this. This short clip shows that reporters are not paid to think. Looks like the kid was OK.

I have some ideas of what they should do to the reporter. Any suggestions?

a forward email I liked

Recycled email or the forward email

Lately I have not gotten too many forwards and that's great.  But once in awhile one comes by that is surprisingly enjoyable.  Often they are like that old story your uncle tells every year.  Yes I've heard/seen this already, stop filling my inbox.  I believe there are some people who forward just about everything they get.

I plucked this one out of the list and consider it a better one.  Sorry if you have seen it (maybe you would like check out some other links in the sidebar).

a few clowns in the news

Do you shake or tilt your head after hearing or reading a story about some dumb thing?

I just think a-few-clowns-short-of-a-circus example.

Here's a few stories that exemplify the meaning of  a-few-clowns-short-of-a-circus.

Lindsay Lohan slaps baby with lawsuit
(that's the way I would write the headline)

Is she being the baby in this or what?
The e-trade commercial which is really going to benefit from this used the phrase "that milkaholic Lindsay".  She claims it refers to her - oh cmon.  The baby is way way cuter than that Lindsay lawsuit Lohan.
Very dumb lawsuit that should be thrown out.
Lindsay and her law team = a few clowns short

Next -
Puppet cleavage banned from advertising posters

First off - WTF - what's puppet cleavage?
I guess you know it when you see it.  Apparently, a conservative approach is taken in Colorado Springs.  Poster ads for "Avenue Q" off broadway show had too much fuzzy cleavage showing.
This has me wondering - would you use a hand puppet to grope puppet cleavage?
Also, Lindsay lawsuit Lohan could sue the puppet for cleavage resembling her.

Next -
Laboratory in North Yorkshire invents meat crisps

(for the Brit slang challenged - crisps = chips)
Does the world need bags of meat crisps?
Maybe everyone will be munching their meat crisps while watching puppet cleavage dancing. If these meat crisps become anything like the WOW chip - watch out.  I don't know how to tie Lindsay into this one. IMHO Lindsay is about as useful as a meat crisp.

Google launches boomer phone

Google (which hosts this blogger service) launched a new phone this week.

It's going to be huge.

Because it is huge.

I think it is targeted at the boomer generation which by now is needing more and more large print for reading.

As you can clearly see this smartphone will be easy to read but -
how many little old ladies would be able to carry it?
Maybe it's for the group still driving those big SUVs.

(thanks to Digital Daily for alerting me to this story and the photo)

not a cat person - good thing

Animals can be funny and I've posted a picture or two myself.
But this LOL cats thing - is it really that popular?
Good thing I much prefer dogs.  I don't have to get hooked on this web trend and then I noticed there's the same type of site for dogs.  Now which one gets more visitors?

A quick check at Alexa (page ranking site) shows the cats having a huge lead.  The lolcats.com site comes in at a rank of 52,406 and the laughoutloaddogs.com comes in at a rank 312,942.
Do you think dogs deserve better?

Good heavy metal parody on LOL cats - Enjoy

forward - foe or friend

Most times I just don't care much for those forwarded emails.  I believe there are some people who forward just about everything they get.  I wonder if they bother to even read some of them.  Also, it amazes me (often doesn't take much for that) how an email I saw months ago shows up again from someone who thinks they are passing along 'new interesting funny' stuff.

Do you have the same inbox problem?

However, there are some funny ones flying around out there.  I find the funny odd photos the best.  Most of them are faked I believe, but a good fake can still be funny.

Here's a few pictures I've been forwarded over the past few weeks.  Sorry if they have passed through your inbox already.  (hey I didn't forwarded them anyway)

yoga pose -  This one came as a PDF attachment.  It compares yoga poses with pictures of public drunks (I assume).  This one - Plow Pose reduces backache and can help you get to sleep.

Irish politics involving the EU

New boater learns about a boat launch

OCD at the microwave - This one cracked me up. Could anyone really be worried about "leftover time on the microwave"???
(oh I just noticed that the words are difficult to read - what you getting old like me?   so it's a note asking co-workers to "clear any unused time off" because it drives the OCD people crazy!)

So OK, I don't mind some of the "forwards".  I guess I can sort them out.

Hey Joe, What's Up

sheet music

Yesterday, I was noticing Games People Play on the internet and particularly on The Message boards that involve songs on their Ipods. So I Came Up Smilin' with this Idea to write a post using song titles.

It's Not Unusual or difficult to find The Stranger titles varying from a Willie And The Hand Jive to a Rocky Raccoon.

After Searching I noticed many More song titles with just One word titles than I realized. So having individual words available to select from such as Yellow to Clocks (same band too) allows You to write first and then find the titles. If you want to Take It Easy, you could use that approach.

You could make it more difficult and Take It to the Limit by selecting from just an Old Fashioned Love Song list.

Or limit the selection to just Your Song titles or a specific Time period.

Then some titles are complete sentences. I think these are much more fun to use in a conversation.

Now, You Really Got Me.

You're So Vain.

You Can't Always Get What You Want.

But, You Can Leave Your Hat On.

Walk Like An Egyptian.

Don't Think Twice, It's All Right.

Tell Her About It

Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey.

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

Get Back, Eli's Coming so don't be The Fool On The Hill and bring Something like Joy To The World.

Don't Let Me Down.

We've Only Just Begun.

Now, I'm So Tired. So let me know your opinion.

Maybe, I Started a Joke. Your opinion is important Because, You May Be Right.

Don't Pass Me By
.

Good Night
.

It's Still Rock And Roll To Me
