July ideas

I think it’s the heat.

It was in July 2010 that “best sexy post ever by lisleman” was posted on a brand new idea of a blog called “I Can’t Blog”.  This secondary back alley blog is still around. It gets no respect.

I can’t blog

I have ideas all year round. For reasons unknown to me, in July they surprise me like the thunderclap of a July storm. In fact I didn’t notice this idea birthing trend until I was looking over my past blog posts. (does this imply that I was idea pregnant the first half of the year?)

My restaurant idea came to me during July. Get your Fat Ass Donuts at Lisleman’s Sitdown Eat This and Like It restaurant. Oh the potential money I could blow in July.

July 2011 rolls in on a heat wave and I post my idea of a pedicure conspiracy. codename tow truck

Also in July 2011, I introduced my meme idea - LLL (Lisleman’s Left-over Laughs).

July of last year put me on a road trip. Don’t know if the rubble of the road rattled my brain a bit too much. After my trip another loopy idea circled my mind. Post an altered picture of Sheryl Crow kissing a picture of Lisleman. The objective of this was to get Sheryl’s attention. Given my luck I probably didn’t answer her call thinking it was a telemarketer.

Off the top of my head, I can’t pin down the reason the bountiful crop of ideas in July. Perhaps there is a rhythmic cycle of thought rocking in my brain. Since I exhibit little to no rhythm in any other parts of my life, I think it’s the heat.

What's your best time for ideas?

get ready

You're alright
You're outta sight

do you know about LLL?

There has been 4 LLL's and we need another one.  I dislike regular schedules.  Most of life doesn't run on a schedule and the LLL game/meme doesn't either.

You'll find more info and links to the past LLL's under the LLL tab below the header above.

Come back Monday (come back everyday if you like) and bring a link with you to join in the sharing of a laugh.  It can be a funny post (there are many out there), funny video, funny picture, funny joke.  Did you noticed the word funny?  Good just remember that and you'll do great.

I can’t blog

So tiddley-dee, tiddley-dum
Look out baby, 'cause here I come.
And I'm bringing you a LAUGH that's true.
So get ready, so get ready.

LLL (would be LMAO but that was taken)

Now playing at your favorite blog - LLL #4.

I can’t blog

My youtube addiction offers a window into the funny thoughts and ideas of many people. My love of parody started with parody songs long ago. Pranks, parody, and music covers thrive in the youtube garden.

I find myself listening to Bob Seger and pondering old age.

“...living to run and running to live”

If you are lucky you get old. Then you quit running against the wind, you just break wind and everyone is running from you. Bob should do remake titled “Breaking Wind”.

Remember his “Night Moves”?

“...Working on the night moves, trying to make front page drive-in news.”

If you are lucky you get old. Then your night moves are just to the bathroom and hopefully you are not running against the wind to get there.

My thought activity lead me to search youtube for Bob Seger.  I discovered a popular movie scene to recreate was the "Old Time Rock and Roll" dance from "Risky Business".

Here's two for you laughing enjoyment (amazing what rock music, a hair brush and a video camera can produce) :

Warning leave the stunts for the professionals -

Remember add your funny post with the link tool when you reach bottom (bottom of this post).

LLL Four - funny fantastic four - What can I say about 4? I don’t know but you might have a thought to share.

LLL number 3

Lisleman’s Left-over Laughs are here again.

It’s the third time but who’s counting.

Now is your chance to share a laugh.

Remember when Coca-Cola sang to us, "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke"?

I know this is a small start but I’d like to give the world a laugh.   Join in with your link below.  I’ll start it off with a link to one of my funny posts.   But before you get to that here’s a joke my wife emailed me recently.

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's License to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.

The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me,' and she processed my Social Security application.

When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office... She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too.' And then the fight started...

Now don’t tell me. I’ve nothing to do.

I laugh about it now

I hope you do too.

(I'm linking this to Mama Kat's writer's workshop.
Her prompt - Last week we covered your Top 10 Life Stories…this week choose one and share all the details.)

A funny little story from my past. It needs some background first.

It’s 1983, Athens Greece and I’m a Lieutenant in the USAF. More importantly, I’m freshly divorced. That sounds like an oxymoron because divorce has nothing fresh about it. This is also my first European trip.

A young blonde attractive female Lieutenant and a Greek restaurant (all them are Greek - Athens right?) fills out the rest of the background.

Now this was not really a “date”. I was visiting the Athens’ Air Force unit on business and she was just hosting but she was kinda hot. Who knows maybe her commanding officer asked her to arrange a dinner. I didn’t care, the idea was more than fine with me.

We get seated at our table and are asked about drinks. I’m more of beer drinker or even whiskey but hey I’m thinking wine would be more appropriate and maybe look more sophisticated. So I order a bottle of wine. Merlot I recall.

Out comes the waiter (did you know these wine stewards are called sommeliers - French sounds classy too) with the bottle. I don’t recall specifying a year because I don’t have a clue about years. I was convinced that she was younger than me and that was about the only age that entered my mind that night.

Then the sommelier offers me the customary taste of the wine. Does anyone ever reject the bottle of wine? What would they do with the opened bottle of wine?

So I take a quick drink (yeah maybe I should have swirled and smelled it first).

Immediately I gagged and a spray of wine went flying out my mouth and nose and onto the table. I don’t know if some of it hits her or not.

never spilled a drop of this one

The sommelier at this point gives me a shocked look and asks if everything is OK.

After catching my breath, I look at him and say, “Oh it’s fine we’ll take it.”

I was probably nervous and maybe a little jet lagged. It was embarrassing for sure. My work at the Athens station was only about a week and she never offered any more dinner suggestions. I wonder if she remembers my wine tasting fiasco.

Serving your country does require sacrifice.

I know you have some funny stories or jokes. I have browsed across many on my blog visits, which is why I started Lisleman’s Left-over Laughs (LLL). LLL number 3 will be the next post. Please stop by and add your link to a funny post.

Lisleman’s Left-over Laughs number 2

Are the numbers 1 and 2 the only ones needed for communication with pre-schoolers ?

Well here is my number 2.

That’s number 2 of my LLL theme series. Hopefully, you will not find it stinky at all.

I have to make it to LLL number 5 so I can do the mambo number 5.

Yes it’s LLL time.

LLL time is the time to share a laugh because laughs love sharing.

I can’t blog

The linky thing at the bottom of this post will be open for about a week. Don’t have a link to share with everyone on this visit - no problem you can add anytime over the next few days.

I will also link to one of my funny posts, but before you get to that listen to this funny story.

Do you find your kids funny? At least some of the time when they are not destroying the furniture or whining, they can be your private comedy act.

Picture this - Buckingham Fountain - hot steamy summer day in Chicago - lots of people enjoying the fountain
(notice the refreshing spray drifting in the breeze)

Years ago when our youngest now-adult daughter was just a toddler we took her to a summer event in Chicago. As we are admiring the refreshing fountain along with of crowd of others, she noticed the spray of water. She couldn’t resist running to the water (I believe she is part turtle?).

Then the next thing really shocked us.

Standing under the spray, she turns to us, lifts her little arms to the sky and yells at the top of her lungs:
Let’s get naked !

We immediately grab her to prevent any shedding of clothes and quickly walked away wondering should we tell the crowd that we are really not those type people.

She always loved taking a shower. I say her mom gave her the phrase “let’s get naked” during the pre-shower preparation.

Lisleman’s Left-over Laughs (on a Sunday)

Do blogs make you laugh?

Not all the time I know. Looking at pedicures can be a downer for me.

I know a funny (soon to-be-famous rumor has it) blogger out on the left coast. Her blog moniker is Unknown Mami. Oh, you came here from her Sundays-In-My-City? Oh OK no problem skip down to the pictures.

If you don’t know of Unknown Mami (most people don’t know the unknown - right?) then you should check out her blog and her SIMC feature.

Unknown Mami

So back to those laughs. You do know they are healthy for you. Stress relief.  Here’s a few funny pictures we (wife, daughter, myself) have taken.  I have enjoyed sharing these on A Few Clowns Short:

Laughs and smiles are great for recycling and sharing, so I’m starting Lisleman’s Left-over Laughs and you are here for the opening (aren’t you special).

A laugh is better when it's shared.

Funny stuff happens all the time. The best comedy is timeless. Don’t even think you need a new post to join LLL. It doesn’t need to be long. Just one joke, funny story is all.

Now if you are like me, you know you posted some funny thing long ago but can’t remember when or what. Good luck searching, it’s the only way I know to find that stuff. However if you do have the link to it, please add it to LLL.

The linky thing will be at the bottom. Just link-up a post of a funny story, picture, youtube clip or joke. You'll be glad you did because sharing a laugh is good thing.

I ask that you just include a link back here (ok if it's an old one you could edit it and add a link). Also if you like you could browse over here and pick up the code for the LLL badge. The linky thing will be up for more than a week.  I don't know when the next LLL will be but I'll post about it a few days beforehand and hope to do them monthly.

Don’t want to edit the old post? No problem, just mention LLL in your next post and put a link to the old funny one in the new post.

Here’s a sample joke I found:

A three-year-old boy was wondering about his testicles while taking a bath. "Mom" he asked, "are these my brains?" "Not yet," she replied.

Youtube if filled with funny stuff and junk too.  Play that funky music white boy.

Ready?

I'm going to be my own first player of the LLL game. I'm making sure this linky thing links - so check out my funny post about a pregnant font.
