live from blogland it’s Friday Fragments

I still remember when SNL was really good and hilarious. Now it’s rare that they offer a good skit (IMHO). Comedy probably changes faster than, ah, hmm - tires on an Indy 500 car.

Blogs can be lively but they are not live. Someday the FF bloggers should gather around and go live in a big chat room. I remember the old AOL chat room feature that was a big hit years ago. This idea got me wondering if FB had this and it seems you need to accept some other FB app to do it. If anyone is interested in this idea, I think the better way to go than FB would be google chat/talk.

I took a quick look back at my blog posts of about one year ago. I’m not sure why but you don’t always need a reason. I found this picture of an odd job - snake transporter.

from Onestonedcrow

Maybe you heard about the Aflac duck voiceover story but that’s not the only ducky news out there.

Police looking to quack the case of 2,500 stolen rubber ducks

Don’t you love it when a story is just begging for a funny headline?

In Yorkville IL. (which is near Plano and Sandwich) there was no time for playing duck, duck, goose. There was crime on the streets and ducks missing. Thieves had taken 2,500 innocent rubber duckies. I learned of the crime back in March and hoped to find an update telling of the duck thieves being brought to justice or at least being run out of town. I suspect the rubber duck community might never know because this article indicates a juveniles gone bad situation and therefore their names might not be released.

From up north comes this interesting legal finding:

Canadian, Paddi Anne Moore was pulled over by a police officer last spring and asked to blow into a breathalyzer. She failed to blow into it. Police charged her with refusing to give a breath sample.

Later in the court of justice, her charges were thrown out by the judge. Her defense - Botox. Having received Botox injections she could not pucker her lips.

Mrs. 4444 gets her ducks in row every Friday and offers FF. There plenty of Friday Fragments to share, you don’t need your ducky or blow into anything, just click her badge/button below.

Lisleman, how to I register with disqus, so that when I leave comment, my name or picture becomes a link to my blog. Like when I click on your name, it will take me to your blog but not my name or Kristina P., in this example.

She couldn't do the test because of Botox?? That is so crazy.

I heard about Twitter chat which could be a possibility. Interesting idea.

Stopping by from FF.

I completely agree about SNL. The writing is dismal. It feels like it's written by and for 17 year old boys. While I'm not above a hearty belly laugh over toilet humor that seems to be the only thing they do, and not so well at that. They have missed some really fabulous current events to put into their skits. Seth Mayers is the only thing worth watching any more.

I miss the old SNLs. That was one of my favorite childhood memories, staying up late on Saturdays to watch the Dana Carvey/Mike Meyers/Chris Farley casts. We loved Wayne's World, Church Chat, and Weekend Update. Actually, I guess there wasn't much about the old ones that we didn't love.

You are right. SNL was much better back in the day. The original cast was the best.

Botox injections? Reminds me of the woman acquitted for slapping a police officer on a traffic stop. Her defense? PMS. The female judge bought it.

Those are pretty good stories! Even more so because they're true. I enjoyed reading this!

I remember those days of chat rooms. Many hours wasted.

lisleman said...

Yes time on blogs is so much better.

lisleman said...

thanks please check out my other posts.

lisleman said...

PMS defense - that type of thinking could be used against women for a reason for denying them leadership positions. So does that lady get to slap an police officer once a month then?

lisleman said...

agree - as I said they still have a few goods but not as many.

lisleman said...

The target audience is certainly a younger one than me. Seth Mayers is good but I really enjoy Kristen Wiig - her check out lady cracks me up.
thanks

lisleman said...

thanks but I'm not on twitter but maybe you don't need to be? The google chat allows other IM types. There are other chat room services but honestly I don't think people care from them much anymore. I never thought of twitter as a chat room replacement but you may be right.

lisleman said...

I guess her lips were too stiff. I wonder how she ate. thanks

lisleman said...

Yes that's good feature but I believe you need to join DISQUS which is free. Even if you join DISQUS you do not need to apply it to your blog. They would like you to run it on your blog but I believe they have members who don't even have a blog. After you join all the comments/replies you make on a DISQUS comment section will be stored for you but you do need to remember to sign in.

i have never understood the attraction to something that makes your face look like a mask.

not only that but it is a deadly poison. People do crazy things. thanks

Hmmm - live chat in a giant blogger chatroom? Would I get to be the teenager or the dirty ol' geezer offering them candy? W.C.C.

lisleman said...

maybe both - eat your own candy?
thanks

The other day I visited you from my son's computer and I guest that is why disqus did not recognise me. Now I am back on my computer, it recognised me. I did not get your response to my earlier email since I did not log-in but I did look for a log-in sign but could not find. I'll continue working and getting myself more familiar with disqus.

oceangirl415 said...

Lisleman, I have installed DISQUS. But somehow my name does not lit up as link. And if the commenters do not register, they are unable to receive my response to my comments. Unlike INTENSEDEBATE, it would make you register. Could you please when you get the chance, visit me. Also you mentioned a referenced post on how to install and operate DISQUS, could you tell me the link again.

lisleman said...

Your blog appears to be working fine. Maybe you have noticed this before - I always sign-in to DISQUS before I start a comment or reply. It seems to work better that way. Computers can be setup in so many different ways. Depending on your settings you may automatically login to some things and not others. I often forget to log into DISQUS. Also, at the top of the comment section is DISQUS tab/button - it has a pull down menu that will take you to your leader - no I mean dashboard. I commented on your blog about visitors not needing to register just give their email address. But registering is better.
here's that post link -

I haven't seen SNL in years. The early seasons were/are classics, with so many people who went on to much bigger things. I guess I'm just too old for it now. Brought to you by the Bass-omatic.

lisleman said...

Don't drink anything coming from the bass-omatic. thanks for the memory

I can't imagine letting someone inject poison into my face.

Sure, blame it on the Botox. You know on the weekends I hire myself out as an entertainer for kid's parties. I call myself "Botox the Clown". It's a great gig. I don't do much just sit around and look expressionless. I certainly don't blow up balloons because Botox can not pucker.

lisleman said...

Botox the Clown - that's good - I'm trying to come up with a good side-kick to complete the act.

Kelley said...

Can't type well as I am absolutely distraught that rubber duckies were ever stolen. Waaaa!!!

lisleman said...

Yes some thieves show no compassion for wonderful things. thanks

lisleman said...

I was thinking the second part of the act could be pole dancing.

unknownmami said...

No silly, it's free botox injections for everyone. In order to prevent wrinkles, you need to start young.
