factual friday fragments

It's a fact that I have posted many Friday Fragments (FF) and I try to introduce the post differently each time.  It's also a fact that conjuring up a new intro is not easy.  I'm rewriting a used one with hopefully a better rhyme.

It's fragments on Friday
they form a fine day
not nice bitchin,
instead be FF fishin
I don't have time
to make it all rhyme
it don’t matter
FF friends will flatter.

Now after this post get over to Mrs. 4444’s place to check out the fragment chatter. Do you get extra points for rhyming in your FF post?  It’s a fact that for months worth of Fridays, Mrs. 4444 has been collecting postings on Friday Fragments. Her blog is an outstanding fragment collector.

Mommy's Idea

Do you scroll to the bottom? I typically do if I’m visiting a new page. Of course I don’t visit web pages with a smartphone since I don’t have or want a smartphone. Probably different with smartphone viewing. You can find interesting stuff on the page bottom. I might take a cue from Unknown Mami and put something interesting at the bottom of my page. She has a slideshow on her bottom. Oh no, that didn’t come out right. Hey pay her a visit and tell her Lisleman has a new idea for her slideshow.

Earlier this week I shared a post about acronyms. One of the commonly used acronyms is RSVP (répondez s'il vous plaît). Many Americans (unfairly IMHO) consider the French rude. How ironic that we use this French derived acronym in the polite request of an invitation.

Following the RSVP thought, what is it with the month of May? The May calendar is packed tighter than a jar of pickles. When you yank those pickles out too fast you are likely to spray pickle juice in your eye, then you can’t read the calendar. (I have issues - but hey these are fragments)

If you browse around like I do, you learn stuff. Blog browsing is much better than facehooking on Facebook. Most posts trigger a thought and one the other day gave me this one to share:
I believe we all get a unique view of the world. Parts of our views overlap with others.  Sometimes not by very much.
Lastly, did you know that NASA takes pictures of the sun from space?  Here's a cool video clip from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory.  Didn't Smash Mouth sing "you might as well be walking on the sun"?

The NASA vido is awesome! I love the colors too. It would make a cool screen saver.

Just show you some pretty colors with a little background music and you completely forget my poem.  Just giving you a hard time.  I'm glad you enjoyed the clip.  If you go over to youtube you can find links to download it for free.
thanks

It's all about the sparkles. They totally distract me from anything!

Love the NASA video - thanks for posting it!  I also think that Mrs. 4444 is a fabulous frag collector!

Wow the video is amazing...thanks for sharing! And yes I find the RSVP funny and I really think the French are rude but so are some New Yorkers and while were at it Jersey people too...I can say they because I've lived in both places for several years and often said wow they are rude! Have wonderful long weekend!

The thing I've noticed about RSVP these days is that no one responds. They just show up or don't. I guess that's why people have started putting Regrets Only  instead of RSVP. The NASA shots are fantastic!

Oh I loved the video too. Did you see the Armstrong interview he just did? Fascinating. you made me laugh, slideshow on her bottom, he he. Have a good weekend and hope the weather is good because its cold here....

lisleman said...

We were just watching a documentary on the Apollo missions last night.  I'll need to search for that Armstrong interview.  Good to hear you enjoyed the post.  The weather here has been better than normal.

The people that don't tell you if they will show either never planned a big event or just don't care about others efforts.  Glad you like the NASA stuff.

Glad you enjoyed the NASA stuff.  I enjoy promoting science.

Rudeness probably doesn't follow location completely.  Culture plays a part but if you don't understand the local culture the visitor might appear rude.  Living in a crowded city can make you rude.  Good to know the NASA video is well received.

Did you know there is a space weather prediction center? Lots of interesting pictures there too.  http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/

thanks - I have seen the space weather (solar storm warnings) sites.  I recall seeing a Mars weather site somewhat but I don't remember where.  Technology is amazing.

If I say I like your poem, do I get to wear the Prefect badge this week?  It's kinda' cool this fragment section, I enjoy your flits to and from such diverse topics as outer space to your May calendar being fuller than a jar of pickles

you should join in on the Friday Fragment post meme/blog game.  I can get rather random at times.

Nice of you to mention my slideshow bottom. I'll tell my husband not to take it the wrong way.

May?  What's in May other than Memorial Day?  And I like that one - a long weekend with no obligations.

lisleman said...

Graduations and Mother's Day can be counted on along with upcoming Memorial Day.  But throw in a birthday or two, christening and/or a wedding and you have filled weekends.  Hey it's different for everyone so don't take it as anything more that a question.
I bet you will be riding the backroads this weekend - be safe.
thanks

Oh please do.  Has he seen it?  -  You might be on to something.  If might have never seen any older James Bond movies but I remember a few that had pictures projected on bodies.  Very artsy.
thanks - you are not only funny but fun to tease too.

That video is awesome!

I like your facebook-triggered thought. It is very true.

Smartphones feel like a lot of work to me. Always being accessible by people, always tethered to the internet. I don't have one either.

lisleman said...

I was impressed by the video but I expect such a positive response to it.   Thanks for the feedback.  Hey we could start a no-smartphone-use-dumbphone club.  We might need to work on the name.  It's great when my view overlaps.

Over the years of blogging, I have learned so much from blogs. They are rich in humor, information, emotions. I think that is the main reason I choose to keep blogging. Reading other blogs is my favorite, much more fun than writing my own posts.

Hey you write good stuff.  I get to learn more about small town rural America.  thanks for sharing.

I hate pickles. May is always full in the US. In Honduras, we jam everything into September.

lisleman said...

I don't like cucumbers which are used to make pickles.   I think September is the best time to vacation because many families need to get kids back to school.  thanks

Kind of ironic that we think the French are rude, and yet most of us ignore requests for RSVPs.

Nice rhyming :)

Off to check UM's bottom out.haha

lisleman said...

Unfortunately rudeness spreads around too much and it seems to be getting worse.
thanks

lisleman said...

thanks - Problem is rude people don't realize the rudeness they receive back is because of their own rudeness.

I loved the poem. I also think it might be, maybe, that the French are rude about rude people.  I don't know. Very cool NASA video.
