fly me to the fragment

Are your fragments coalesced yet? I start collecting mine days before Friday and by Thursday I’m ready to dump them on you. Don’t worry they don’t stain. You probably know what I’m talking about but if you don’t and you happened to stumble over here for the first time please take a look and then direct yourself to the Friday Fragment collector, Mrs. 4444.

It snowed today. Now it is January 12 so this typically would be not be anything worth reporting for a Chicagoland winter. But for some reason which I’m NOT complaining about, winter has been postponed this year.  No shoveling, no complaints.  So far, it’s not much but enough to shovel.

our grand-dog - I think she likes snow

Do you know much about black holes? I have read a number of physic books so I understand the concept. There is astronomical evidence that a big one exists at the center of our galaxy.

One of the characteristics of a black hole is the crossing of the point of no return (fancy name is event horizon). Have you ever experience the event of not realizing the time spent following links on the internet? I think there might be black holes on the internet, so be careful.

This pinterest site shows signs of being a potential black hole internet site. I had heard of it not too long ago and thought it’s just of lots of fashion, hair styles, home decorating and shopping stuff up there. I could care less.

Then FF collector, Mrs. 4444, mentioned it on her FF post and I respect her suggestions so I took a deeper look at it. I was surprised about the variety of things that users collect up there. You can find hunting, sports, beer, and even junk robots. I joined. I don’t have too much yet but take a look:

Follow Me on Pinterest

As we age and our focus dulls, often our conversations turn into word guessing games. Have you had this happen yet?  Don't worry there is still time.  The guessing game can provide comic relief in some situations.

(during the middle of a possible conversation with a sibling)
“Oh what was it I was going to say It was somewhere we were and I was laughing about something.”

“That’s pretty vague. How would I know but here’s a few clues from our conversation so far: teens, parties, the beach, seagulls, sunscreen...”

“No that doesn’t help. Oh darn, it was a good story too.”

“Well maybe it will come you later.”

“Oh, oh, now I remember. Remember the time you dropped your ice cream cone on the back seat and then tried to lick it off?”

“No not really.”

Awww...your grandpup is cute! I don't know why, but I didn't realize we live so close to each other.  So bummed to see that snow passing by without leaving a snow day.

I have that memory issue all the time, especially when I'm in motion. It helps to go back where I was when I first had the thought.haha

Almost got sucked into that Pinterest black hole, clicking on your link! Glad you're having fun with it.

Thanks for playing FF this week; I hooked you up!

heehee.. I find myself having the huessing game conversation ALL the time ;) LOL

Pinterest... I am TOTALLY addicted. (you'll see when you see my Fragment post). It's a sickness ;)

so close ?  you're in Wisconsin that's like a different country ;)
Do I understand correctly - this motion talking memory thing - you need to move back to where you were to remember the thought?
That's like the lady who was always thinking of the here-after.  Every time she entered a room she would ask "what am I here after?".

Funny that I got linked up twice on FF.

I'll be over to see you post about this.  Just remember to laugh WITH the person during those guessing games.
thanks

I have named these memory lapses Proper Noun Amnesia.  I lose more names and place names now!  I can talk to Saint Bev for 15 minutes and not one bit of information is exchanged!  Frustrating stuff!

What a cute dog, who is clearly enjoying the snow.  That conversation is funny, my husband and I have conversations like that all the time.

I have been avoiding the Pinterest blackhole for a time now. I always join these things much later than others. I just started tweeting so Pinterest may have to wait, but I have seen some interesting things from it on various blogs.

PInterest? It's possibly I have already cycled, peaked, and now falling out of the black hole. Nice for awhile. Enjoy while you can.

I recently joined Pinterest too. There is everything on there.

that's a good whatchacallit name.  Sometimes when I sit down it comes to me so you know what that means.
thanks

thanks - the dog is very gentle with kids too.  I skipped twitter.  I believe pinterest is all about pictures.

lisleman said...

Been there done that already?  I think that happens to some bloggers with blogging.  thanks

she is a nice dog but I'm glad she doesn't live with us.  I just don't want another dog.  She visited around Christmas and was great with the little kids.  I was surprised there was plenty of "manly" stuff up there.
thanks

yes quite a variety - I just checked out your page.  All this connectivity is changing the whole - maybe we all need to bags for our heads.
thanks

she has a funny face even without the snow

LOL -- our dog looks like that when she comes in also!  She adores snow and rolls in it with great abandon!  And I've discovered that Pinterest is a black hole for me too :-)

That's an awesome funny shot of your grandpup!  And you have been lucky ... no snow until yesterday!  I'm hoping we can go through the whole winter with none.  Keeping fingers crossed!

lisleman said...

thanks - snow on my face just seems too cold for me.  I've spent time on Pinterest but so far not too much.  Blog reading is still better.

lisleman said...

Now if we can get the cold and snowing to end early.  I don't mind rain so we can get the water we need.  thanks

Pinterest really has turned into a black hole for me.  I've now tried to focus on pinning new items, but damn if there's some really great stuff already up.  Ugh!

I love pinterest.  But, it totally is a black hole.  I love it for pinning recipes/craft ideas I find online because I used to try saving them in my email or reader and they'd get lost.

lisleman said...

I think food blogs are getting lots of traffic from pinterest since the pins are just pictures of the food.  So far it's not much of a black hole for me but there are more pictures up there than I have time to see.
thanks

lisleman said...

Maybe I'm reading too much into your comment but are you involved in a "pinning" contest?  Are we counting pin points?  I've been out-pinned but I'm ok with that.
thanks

Sounds good to me!

That's really funny, Bill. Yes, that's exactly how it works. (It's a drag when it happens while I'm driving.)

The dog is adorable!  Somebody just turned winter on here in Philadelphia. It is frigid.  I'm hoping for some snow because my husband has a snow plow!

thanks - I've often wondered about businesses that depend on weather.  They have the added risk of weather.
