on the fifth day

Finally a wearable gift and one that you could pawn later on if the relationship goes bad.

The five ring image of the Olympics pops into my head when thinking of five rings. I can’t recall ever watching an Olympic sport using rings.

Five golden rings is more bling than I desire. But my Sonic the Hedgehog video playing does not cut it with only 5 golden rings. On the fifth day of Christmas I sucked and only scored five golden rings.

I know diddly squat about opera but have you ever heard of the Ring opera?  Actually four (five would fit better) operas by Wagner.  The “Ride Of the Valkyries” has been a favorite since the 1979 “Apocalypse Now” movie.

“I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

Amazing how five golden rings can lead to napalm in the morning. It’s the beauty and power of the internet.

I've never heard of the Ring Opera, but then we do not have any operas here.  You are getting really good at this.

Are you doing some kind of post riff on the "12 Days of Xmas"?  I only opened this post which means, if I'm too lazy after commenting, I won't go back to see.

Have I told you, judging from your profile photo and borrowing from Warren Zevon, your "hair is perfect"?

thanks - I have the one song I mentioned but didn't actually know it was part of a bigger set of operas.  Blogging is so educational.

Did you go to any of the games?  I went to Korea once and visited the stadium where the Olympics had been held previously.
thanks

I am not cultured enough to do operas.

I'm not either.  I thought Phantom of Opera was an opera - it was good but it's a musical.

No too expensive, my hubby volunteered and he saw a lot . We did a lot of the activities surrounding it though .

Hi Lisleman, I have to take a short break from blogging.  And so I won't be able to be here on the 6th day.  I thought I will still visit you until the 12th but I felt it would be a better break if it was a proper break.

I am cheering you on till the 12th.  Hope to see you soon.

Just catching up with the 12 days of Christmas post. I always liked the bird ones, but I thought of them more in terms of visiting my yard, since I don't eat bird of any sort.  Rings would be okay, too.

Only you the great 'Lisleman' could link 5 rings and Napalm into a Christmas blog. W.C.C.

do you play charades often?  If not you would be good at it.
thanks

have a good break.  Don't worry the posts will still be here.

wait doesn't everyone's mind wander like that?

While researching about this song I found some history on the song and it's meaning.  The "calling" birds are really "colly" birds which is a name for blackbirds.  The "rings" originally meant pheasants since they have colorful rings on their necks they were called rings.  Of course most everyone today thinks of the finger-wearing type.

thanks I'm very proud of that achievement.
