my friends

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends....

My friends ??
They are you.  You are them.

You can find a list of blog friends here.

But there's another list that forms the ICB team.  (see the current list)

What's the ICB team?
Just minute, I first need to remind everyone something they should know.
Life is a team sport.

Blogging is no exception and we all help each other.  Sometimes we don't even realize we helped another blogger.  One of the bloggers from those lists, Unknown Mami, recently gave me a post idea (come back in a few days for it).  I remember once back in 2009, leaving a comment over there that became a post for her.  I went looking for it but since she moved off of "blogger" I don't think the post is there anymore.

This helping and sharing is why I started 'I Can't Blog" (ICB) blog.  Here's the intro post about it.

If you don't know already, the odd thing about ICB is it only has ONE post.  The plan is to use the threaded feature of DISQUS to share ideas about blogging.  It's growing slowly and you can already find good info in the comments.  But I wanted to give it more publicity.

Some of you know about Blog Catalog because you are members.  I found it a good way to find other bloggers but I'm not as active on their message boards as I was once.  I submitted ICB to be added to my blog list over there.

Guess what?  They have standards.  After waiting a long time I received this status:
Status: Declined - Not enough content

Well too bad for them.  ICB is going to stay a one post blog.

A genius is never appreciated in his own time. You set your own standards.

I can't remember what post you are referring to that you inspired (I blame it on pregnancy hormones). Remind me what it was about and I'll find it. Everything was supposed to transfer over, but I do know that a few posts got left behind. If you remind me of the topic, I'll find it and transfer it over manually.

thanks - it's no big deal but I was trying to search on "Lisleman" within your blog and didn't see it. Then I went over to your blogger version which flips you over to the new one if you don't stop it first. With some advanced searching I found it on blogger - Sept. 1, 2009. It was about Papi listing some nice things about you.
All that and I say no big deal, but really it's not a big deal. (well you could remind everyone of the nice things your husband said about you)

How dare they?! They wouldn't recognize talent if it up and slapped them in the face(s).

Meh, who needs 'em?

The INTERWEB has standards???? Are you sure - why if I did not know better I would say you were a 'Few Clowns Short of a Circus'. Great job on the ICB post. Who needs 'em, we can promote it on our own! W.C.C.

Indeed ... what would blogging be without friends and comments?

"Status: Declined - Not enough content" - no comment ...

OneStonedCrow said...

... just an afterthought: maybe an ICC section? - I Can't Comment ... for those times when you don't know what to say or what you have to say is lame (like this) but you want to let your blog buddy know you're reading their posts ...

re: disqus comments ... I've found that it doesn't work if I click on the 'Subscribe to all comments by email' in the pop-up box probably because I've already subscribed to 'Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom)' already ...

... might be useful for other friends having the same problem

You don't need them anyway. Just write medium short posts and talk just like you are talking in person to a friend.

Perhaps the I Can't Comment section could be in the form of additional posts...

If you would like to start a "I Can't Comment" blog, I'll support you. I'm not sure how it would work. Short comments are fine and always welcomed, but of course longer ones can be more interesting.

It's hard to describe interface problems with web services. I don't completely understand your comment about DISQUS but I assume you are receiving these comment replies OK.

Do you plan to install DISQUS on your blog?

I think OneStonedCrow should carry out his idea on this because I don't understand how it would work.
Are you saying that if you can't comment you just do a post? Any crazy idea could work - who knows? Unknown Mami makes a regular post from her comments but then she is very able to comment. I'm getting confused.

Nope, not receiving comment replies - when I post a comment as a guest I first get a pop-up box which is pre-filled with my name and mail addy ... also in the box is an option to subscribe to comments for the post by email ... if I check that option I keep getting an error message ... when I un-check it the comment gets posted ...

I'm also unable to use my OpenID to comment ...

lol ... no I don't want to complicate things further so I'll hold-off on installing Disqus ...

Blogcatalog...One platform where most of the people want to get but not to give. Good relatioship needs time to build up. Several people would like to be my friends even if I've never visited their blog. Collectin people for the sake of amount is not my piece of cake. Anymore. When I started and didn't know how play this game I was fooled to follow all kinds of...nonsense.

I've noticed how most of the people are the same as in real life: they like people similar to themselves. Most are not interested about others. Their own life is so much more interesting.
Too many bloggers want to leaders and when they get that status they will always have those who support because they think they gain a small part of that glory and fame...
I could go on but I'm not feeling well yet. I've been two days in bed - terrible flu and still feel weak.
Thanks for your visits and comments. I'll be back when feeling better...

thanks for sharing that thoughtful comment. I agree about some of the people on blogcatalog. What bothered me the most was people wanting to play the click fraud thing with me. Hopefully the few people who follow this blog actually want to read more of my stuff and share most of my views. I certainly don't expect readers or followers to agree with all my views. I do expect a civil level of respect which so far has been very true most of the time. I respect others views but for the most part I don't post controversial items.
All the best - hope you are feeling better soon.

Thank you for reminding me of that post. I forgot about it and it was nice to re-read. Also, I knew a few posts hadn't made it over in the move and it appears most of them were from September of last year, so thanks for helping me find them because I was not about to go looking post by post.
