ramble with a rumble

Feeling lucky?

I was working on a post about luck and being lucky. As luck would have it, I got bored, didn't win the lottery, and wrote this post instead.

Clarifying - that’s a shampoo thing right? I’m not trying to clarify anything here. In fact my thoughts will probably just increase the general confusion.

colorful mind expansion

Amazing how one letter difference between words alters the meaning so dramatically. Consider the phrase, “seen in public”. Now drop the ‘l’. Unless you are a flasher do you want to be seen in pubic? Pubic should not be public in my opinion.

Could it be winter cabin fever? Sure many have felt the desire to get out, escape, after being cooped up too long. But a fever? So the next time I have a fever I should book a vacation? If everyone did that world epidemics would be even more common. Get rest, drink more fluids, have some soup.

Thinking of escape (really I’m writing this from home not prison and my fever has dropped) did you know they are bringing back the “X Files”? I recall enjoying that show in past. (of course it might be just an implanted memory that didn’t really happen) The truth is out there but that doesn’t mean we get to know what it is.

I really don’t believe in extraterrestrial aliens (hmm another implanted thought). However, after hearing some of the 2016 campaign clowns I’m changing my view.

If you are looking for me, I’ll be down in Lisleman’s Few Clowns Short Basement Corner of Fame designing a UFO sensor.

no chicken wings

Ever been to the Grand Canyon?

Have you seen the PBS series "The National Parks: America's Best Idea"?

I am fortunate to answer yes to both questions (I did write the questions). I would like to go back to the Grand Canyon. It is hard to describe. Maybe I don't know enough words meaning BIG. All Americans should have it in their travel plans.

I wish I could share a photo from our trip there but it was before the digital camera and I have not scanned those pictures yet. (side note - I don't think blogs would have become popular before the digital camera)

For those who have been there (others look up some pics), imagine what it would be like to fly over it with a jet pack wing? A what?

I understand there is only one of them. I posted about this Swiss inventor zooming over the English Channel before.

Recently, he strapped on his jet powered wing, hopped on a helicopter and dropped himself over the Grand Canyon. (side note - he had an easier time getting permission from a Native American tribe than the FAA)

Reminds me of the Jetsons, Rocketman, James Bond, etc. (not chicken man)

The real thing

Hey for an extra A-Few-Clowns-Short point - What was Mrs. Jetson's first name?

failed to make favorite list

Last post, I joined in a favorite song game/challenge. I listed a few songs that popped up in my head and competed for the favorite title, then I picked one. You should play along and share your favorite too.

There is no doubt that music forms a very key part of human development. We communicate through music. We can stir emotions in others with it. This might be why I found some readers deciding that they could not pick one favorite song.

I must say there are some songs that sound good but for certain reasons could never be a favorite of mine. Some them would even be on my change-the-station list. Do you have a list like that? Dislike it so much that you need to change the station.

For example (please suggest ones on your list):
  • “Ben” - lovely musical quality but it’s about a rat. That is just too stupid.  (some of you were not born when this was a hit so I'll include a youtube clip below)
  • “Helter Skelter” - totally ruined by Charles Manson and his misappropriation of it.
  • “The Fool On The Hill” - too realistic for me
  • “I’m Too Sexy” - too unrealistic for me
  • “Wedding Bell Blues” - bad memories (don’t ask I don’t want to talk about it)

Hey players fire up those brain cells - more “A-Few-Clowns-Short” points are available for you to earn. (see this post if you really want to learn more about those points but honestly I would not bother clicking)

Try to answer me this:
1. Name the song writer (who died much too young) of that Fifth Dimension hit listed above.
2. If the song writer had a picnic with the Fifth Dimension what type of picnic would it be?

time at the hotel california

I don’t want to mislead you or string you along.

I would not want to give the wrong impression (have you ever tried doing impressions - not easy). My last post had a pop quiz question at the end. Why is a sudden unexpected quiz in school called a “pop” quiz? It has nothing to do with soft drinks or pop stars unless you are taking a class at PepsiCo or Disney.

Oh what was I getting to?

Oh yeah, that quiz and the resulting points. Hopefully, the readers scoring points got their reply messages and know they have points (you don’t expect me to keep track). Now if you read this blog and don’t comment how are you ever going to make anything of yourself? Really. You will only get points if you play along and in blogland playing along means commenting.

What, do you live in a barn?

Don’t leave the comment section open.

Pay attention. This is not important.

I’m not promising anymore quizzes with points but I think I might be able to do a few more, if you’re good. Here’s the problem.

What you don’t want to hear my problems? Why on earth are you reading blogs if you don’t want to hear problems?

Ok the problem - I don’t know what value to give the points I have awarded. Maybe they are like those stars I got in grade school. I never got to cash those in. Well I don’t remember cashing them in.

More like all the 100’s of thousands of points I got playing Pac Man during the early 80’s. I can still hear the sound of those little ghosts going down. So what should I do with the points. Actually I know what to do - give them away. The bigger question what can you do with the points. Start an exchange market with them. Trade them.

All I have come up with so far is the name. “A-Few-Clowns-Short” points.

I’m not making any commitment here (how many times has some guy said that?) but here’s another musical quiz question for points.

Oh just a note - I could hid the comments by turning on moderation but since this is really for you own satisfaction (yeah I can’t get no either) I’m not going to bother. So if you don’t want to be surprised by the answers that maybe in the comments, think of the answer before going through the comment section. You know, it’s like the quiz in a newspaper or magazine where the answers are printed upside down or on another page.

1) What was the last year the hotel California served wine?
2) According to the madman, you could check out at anytime but what can you never do?
