regular fragment gig

I’m back. I just like that phrase, I didn’t go anywhere.  But of course on the metaphysical level we are always on a journey to somewhere. Let’s get metaphysical, metaphysical. I want to get metaphysical.

Meta or not, over the past few years (decades in internet years) bloggers have created and shared the fragments of their minds over at Mrs. 4444’s blog. The number of Friday Fragment episodes is approaching 300.

My uncle Clay Lisleman

Here's something that’s never been said -- "Come hip shake with me baby. I just got a replacement."

If this retirement gig doesn't work out I might be forced into modeling. Do you consider retirement a gig since gigs are typically short? Often a gig might be a few hours. But then there are regular gigs. At my age any modeling gig would be certainly be short and not regular. There's a demand for old droopy men that still have a head of hair - right?

Where’s the beyond section at Bed Bath and Beyond? It would be fun to go in the store and ask. Let me know what they tell you.

Growing up, all my buddies had nicknames that we used within our group. The nicknames changed occasionally. For awhile I was called Wild Bill. Two of the guys were Moose and Mole. In my last post I had fun using names to protect the guilty in my story.

I am a traveler of both time and space,
...
Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear
(Jimmy Page and Robert Plant)

Once again Led Zepplin lyrics remind me:
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired,
But I know I've got one thing I got to do, Ramble on,
And now's the time, the time is now

Beyond the metaphysical is the pataphysical. Amazingly that's a real discipline and not something the Beatles invented.

Ok your comment had me looking up pataphysical. One short definition says, "...intended as a parody of the methods and theories of modern science and often expressed in nonsensical language." Now I really enjoy parodies. I've written a bit of nonsensical language on my blog. thanks

Perfect hairstyle if I was still living in the 70's.
I might be wrong but I think they are daffodils surrounded by bluebells.
thanks

Hey I bet you got a bit of exercise from it. Even if it was only mental exercise, exercise is good.
thanks

A singing comment, how nice! It could be worst, they could be the real slimy worms.

I wish a short a wonderful modeling gig stint. Perhaps you could do some pro bono work to get started. Head on over to Macy's try on some clothes and do a runway walk down the department.

How about a run away out of the store? Probably would draw media attention too. Will you be willing to bail me out?
thanks

You had to throw the creepy clown in there...
I agree the third hair style is the one.
My favorite Phillies player walks out to Kashmir. Love it!
I wish weekends were a time I would learn to say no to out of the house work. I love the in the house gig I have...

A baseball player who walks out to bat with Kashmir playing? That would add excitement to the game. Someone had a great idea with that one.
thanks

Bed, Bath and Beyond seem to beyond my reach. They've been closing up around here. Love your talking photo. Hate the creepy clown. The hair in the second photo goes with the big bow tie. Clownish. :-)

I heard about some closings but didn't notice any around here. The pic was made a few years ago. The daffodils looked so out of place in the sea of blue. I don't care for any type of bow tie.
thanks

I think Beyond includes all the kitchen items.

And gig is just a job for a specified time, but not necessarily a brief time.

lisleman said...

Well the kitchen is typically beyond me so maybe this makes sense. thanks

I hadn't thought of retirement as a "gig". I have been thinking retirement as the lack of a gig.

Bed, Bath and Beyond...I guess Beyond is so they can put anything else they want in the store and be covered. Some of the larger Bed, Bath, and Beyonds now have drug store aisles in them. Makeup, toiletries, paper goods etc. Then they bought World Market in 2012 and are revamping their stores to include "import" merchandise as well.
