get yo fragments together

She-who-keeps-me-around recently had a birthday. One of her gifts was Mary Schmich’s book, “Even Terrible Things Seem Beautiful To Me Now”. On the back cover Mary Schmich writes,
“For most of us, life is a hugely varied affair. … yet on any given day we think even more about family, food, money, the garden, the weather, that weird little pain that may mean something or nothing.”

Now Mrs. 4444 has not written a book (not that I know of anyway) but she has written many posts. Her blog is a hugely varied affair, I would say.  Her Friday Fragments collections bring together a variety of thoughts and images from many bloggers. I offer you this post to add to your variety.

Family member shared this with me - must be the name Billy

One of our daughters went to a roller derby event this past week. She brought back the program listing the teams. It’s fun just to read the player names. Two that stuck in my head are:
Sara Problem (best customer service name ever)
Sue Perduper

in honor of Easter week

Lisleman likes lyrics (potential blog name?) - Elton John’s song “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” has the words:
“I’d just allow a fragment of your life to wander free”
also
"frozen here on the ladder of my life"

All salesmen should ride bicycles. Then they would pedal while they peddle.

Sittin' here restin' my bones
And these spammers won't leave me alone,
yes Two thousand posts,
I hone
Just to make
this blog my own

Lisleman also likes (should a blogger write in the third person? how about the fourth?) funny ads. Humor adds to the appeal of an ad.

The radio show I listen to was talking about KFC's chicken corsages. That commercial is too funny. I like how the dad is looking on happily, like nothing is strange, and the mom has the questioning look. I wonder if anyone will come up with a vegetarian option?

The expressions on the faces really make the ad. I also noticed the different reaction between the mom and dad. I prefer Popeye's over KFC but have eaten both. Not being a vegetarian, that never crossed my mind. Wait, flowers would be vegetarian - right?
I did read an article about it which said the fine print tells you that you get real flowers and a coupon for KFC. So no chicken has been strapped to any wrist except in making the video.
thanks

That commercial is awesome! Very creative, funny, sweet.
Sue Perduper; that's fun to say.
Thanks for linking up :)

Glad you enjoyed the ad. I'll need to check if Sue Perduper is on FB or G+ yet.
thanks

Roller derby baffles me. I am not keen on sports whose primary goal is hurting people.

Love the pedal and peddle reference. My grandson wants a plane (plain) hamburger. so he can fly.

Flying plain hamburger - funny. Tell him there are two towns close to each other in Illinois named Plano and Sandwich - just a Plano Sandwich.
thanks

I don't know much about the sports. The physical part reminds me of hockey. thanks

Ohhh that's a very strange/funny ad, people must have a lot of fun thinking them up :)

I posted one on my blog earlier, not in the Fragments though, if you like unusual ads take a look http://bit.ly/1lgGpop

Good to know you liked it. Humor (humour) doesn't always make it across the pond as you probably have noticed. I've known some here who just dislike "British" humor. I favorite character of mine is Mr. Bean. I'll check your funny ad, thanks.

Over here we are all watching "The Big Bang Theory"

Is that as popular over there as here?

lisleman said...

Yes it is but not with me. I've lost interest in most sitcoms. I actually don't watch very much TV. So often I'll read a blog post about some show being followed by the blogger and I don't have a clue of what they are talking about. I often don't have a clue about many things or so I am told.

Happy Birthday to the one who keeps you around. That add was brilliant, everyone is talking about it.
Roller Derby is a lot of fun to watch. I love the names the girls use. I would not want to be one of those girls.
Happy Easter!

I pass the greeting along. I've only seen roller derby on TV, long ago. The names are great fun. Thanks and Happy Easter

I am an enormous Elton John fan and you captured my favorite lyric from that song. It always gets my mind rolling over a fragment wandering free. The KFC corsage is just wrong. And that comes from a Southerner who is old enough to remember when it was still called Kentucky Fried Chicken, had white buckets with a picture of the Colonel on the bucket, and they gave kids Colonel-shaped balloons with paper feet.

I also remember when fried was part of their name. A few fragment posts ago I wrote about the Colonel who was a Kentucky Colonel. I don't recall if you saw that post. If you want more fragments here the link

A fragment wandering free - I might use that for a post title. Elton John is a favorite. His Yellow Brick Road album was a favorite of mine. Great lyrics. thanks

I agree that commercial is fffuuunnnyyy. The look on the girl's and her mother's faces when the corsage is coming out of the box...perfect.

Interesting picture of the holiday icons.

As always, great group of fragments.

thanks - the picture came from an art show in Michigan.
