February fragments fluke

I mean fluke as in stroke of luck not part of a whale tail. Writing and posting your thought fragments can bring a bit of serendipity to your world. Please browse through the collection of Friday fragments offered by the most serendipitous blogger I know, Mrs. 4444.

Mommy's Idea

Jeremiah was bull frog, was a good friend of mine.

Back in the day when I mistakenly thought Boone’s Farm wine was actually good wine there were times talking to a bull frog didn’t seem strange at all to me. (how many of you have talked to a cat or dog?)

Next Novice Pope - I was surprised by the Pope giving his two week notice. No matter who becomes the next Pope. You won’t be able to ask him “Hey, who died and made you Pope?”.

Did you happen to see the BBC report about the lightning strike the day the pontiff made the announcement? Within hours of the announcement St Peter's Basilica was struck by a bolt of lightning. Was that a fluke?

I want a new smell. Winter just doesn’t offer many great smells with exception of a few weeks of Christmas trees. If I could add botanicals scents to my blog what ones would you like?
  • rainforest
  • spiced apple
  • mango
  • sandalwood
  • jasmine
  • freesia (have no clue what smell this is)

It’s better that blog readers are not smelling my blog  because sitting here all I’m smelling is sweat-dried slippers with hint of mint.

In the what-do-I-know-but-I’ll-tell-you-anyway category (do you categorize your opinions?), I think fathering a baby at age 67 is dumb. To me it seems like you are only going to be a biological sperm donor dad and not the emotionally supporting dad a kid deserves. It’s tiring just being a grandpa in my 50’s. I enjoyed his movies and comedy and hope to see more but I will not be looking for any inspiring life examples from Steve Martin, a new dad at 67.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve enjoyed a good corn dog. Thinking of a long time since, here’s a song I’ve not heard spinning in long time.

Spiced apple, but I wouldn't be able to smell it, too stopped up. You know it's winter with a house full of kids when momma gets a cold. I really do like spiced apple though.

So, you had me thinking about Jeremiah and CCR and Three Dog Night, and thinking about wood smoke, and then you choked me with Danke Schoen. Oh well. Woodsmoke is still nice.

I talk to my cats every day. One of them is sitting on my lap as I type this. I would like to smell mango on your blog, and yeah, it was totally freaky that lightning struck St. Peter's. Also, being a parent at 67 is...well, I don't get it. I wouldn't have the energy to parent an infant now, and I'm in my 40s.

I hope you get better and your kids learn that you really really like spiced apple. thanks

Wood smoke - as in smell or is it a song I can't remember. I do like Smoke Gets In Your Eyes - the song not the smoke. Danke

We agree. I don't get it either and actually think it's sad for the child.
Mango huh? I've enjoy mango juice drinks and smoothies. thanks.

I hope blogs never become scented. That would be a total bummer for me.

I would choose the spiced apple smell. Of course we talk to our cats and dog everyday. Doesn't everyone talk to their pets? I bet they do. A dad at 67 is too nuts.

lisleman said...

why is that? thanks

Talking to pets is one of the benefits of having them. Glad to find another person agreeing with me on the age for fatherhood. thanks

You can jazz up your winter aroma (doesn't that sound better than smell?) ambiance by putting some cloves, cinnamon, and orange peels in a pan of water left to simmer on your stove.

Just sayin' - - it would be A LOT better than old slippers.

Flukes are what Southerners used to call certain parasitic worms, especially those that bothered dogs and cats. I know a town somewhere in central Louisiana called Fluker. I never felt compelled to stop and inquire about the town or the name. Didn't seem inviting, you know?

Aroma - that's like Italian for smell right? Thanks. That's what wrong with my computer location - lack of ambiance. Well that and my slippers.

You are a wealth of information. I hadn't hear that Steve Martin was a new daddy and OMG I didn't know he was 67. He seems younger than that. At any rate, I agree that 67 is too old to start with an infant. A person can only live so long which leaves a young person losing a parent.

I also didn't see the article about the lightening strike. Spooky...is that a good sign or a bad sign?

I am scent adverse. I don't wear perfume and do my best to buy unscented products (which is very hard) because many artificial scents give me a headache.

I've heard Steve Martin is kind of a jerk, so maybe he wouldn't be that involved anyway?

I don't think there was a time when I thought boones was good

thanks

Yes Fluker and the Flukers that live there don't sound very appealing. funny town names thanks

I know he did a movie called the Jerk but didn't know he acted like one. I read a bit about his life and there didn't seem to be any jerky things written down. Of course even jerks would not necessary include "I'm a jerk" in their story. thanks

lisleman said...

Really maybe you are too much younger or just always had better taste than me. Basically it was cheap and being sweet went down OK. Other than a joke I would never buy it again. thanks

I'm going with Spiced Apple too...

Wayne Newton...Can't get over how BLACK that guy's hair is; isn't he like 80 now/ Gotta give the guy props, though; someone is going to his shows. He probably looks forward (on some level) to his fan base generation dying off; he'll finally be able to put the bottle down (the dye bottle).haha.

I vote for sandalwood.

I never understood a single word he said! (Jeremiah)
Thanks for linking up!

lisleman said...

Good pick - thanks

lisleman said...

Yeah the dye bottle. I was glad when the gray/white started showing up on the sides. I never believed in hair dye. Hey did you hear about the woman who thought she might be arrested for using "Just For Men" hair products?

Sorry to say I just heard Danke Schoen the other day. I think it's a Minnesota requirement of some sort.

And we are together on the whole fathering-at-67 thing. While we all, in some way or another, have children as ego boosts/extensions of ourselves, to produce one in your declining years (health, faculties) just seems confusing...

A Minnesota requirement - funny. I never thought of children as an ego boost but I guess it might be for others. Confusing - I think of it more as selfish. thanks
