fragment forecast

The weather is always changing but this past week the weather has been a roller coaster with multiple loops. We had highs of 50+ on Monday and 60+ on Tuesday. Thursday the chill was lucky to reach 12.

Sudden shifts in temperature may or may not have any effect on the amount of thought fragments collecting in our minds. Unlike surprising weather you can count on Mrs.4444’s blog to have a collection of Friday Fragment posts for your reading pleasure.

Mommy's Idea

Writing up the fragments that have floated through my mind is easier when I remember to write them down as the days pass. Didn’t do that this past week.

Most everyone including myself think of robots as machines that move. The annoying robo-callers don’t move but they get me to slam the phone down often. Trying to control movement and understanding the movement of other objects is not an easy task. Humans and many other animals have developed skills that are difficult for a chunk of machinery to imitate.

Do you think congress could be replaced by robots?

goll-ly surprise surprise surprise
Jim Nabors, famous for his Gomer Pyle role, married his long time partner Stan. The happy couple took advantage of the recent change in marriage law in the state of Washington. I was surprised but not shocked. A big difference in age (18 years) is more news worthy.  Of course, age differences in couples have been going on for a long time.

This blog has been having issues with comments lately. It started with a bombardment of spam comments this month. Blogger appeared to be catching them but I decided to disable anonymous comments. After that I found legitimate (are there illegitimate comments?) comments in blogger but not showing up in the Disqus comment system. I contacted Disqus and I’m trying to get the setting right. Please email me (see contact me page) if you have any trouble leaving a comment.

Have you taken Lisleman’s first quasi-survey yet? It’s very short (5 questions) since you know we are a few clowns short here. Here’s the survey link.

The robots would have to be programmed by someone and I'm afraid Congress would still not work.

I recently incorporated Disqus into my Blogger blog, and it said that you have to make sure your comments are set to Anyone. Have the spam comments appeared on Disqus?

The strange thing is I had little problems over 2 years using it. Then I notice this auto generated spam flood which did not (best I could tell) show up in the comment section. I thought changing a few settings would be a good idea. Not so. Disqus offers you a blacklist which is good protection against spam. Disqus works well keeping the spam out. I just feel the need to mess with settings. Oh what's that button do?

Me too. Especially since the first time I tried installing it, it didn't work. Then I had to go messing around with stuff. It's working now, but all of my imported pre-Disqus comments are out of order and not threaded. Oh, well.

good point but big money control them now. Maybe we could have the robots operated by twitter. It would be a mess. Is there such a thing as a better mess?

lisleman said...

Yes my old ones are like that too. No big deal since they are older ones anyway.

Ok, good to know. So it's not just me, then.

Every time I hear someone say 'surprise' I hear Gomer say it three times.

Hi just visiting from Friday Fragments. Have a great weekend.

If we replace Congress with robots and they are still divided into a two party system, do they look exactly like Rockem Sockem Robots. I bet they do.

I was on Firefox and your Disqus is still MIA, I am on Chrome and your blog is looking pppeeerrrrfeeeccct.

I took the survey. I assume you are never late for dinner.

"would you like to take a survey?" I'll take it. So Nabors is a cradle robber, eh?

Keetha Broyles said...

I think robots might indeed do a better job in congress than the bozos that are currently there.

WHO SAID THAT!?!

lisleman said...

He did a funny character didn't he? I suspect you probably have heard his wondrous singing voice. thanks

lisleman said...

thanks have a great weekend too

That's for checking it out with both browsers. Have you check if Firefox has a new version and/or the updates on the plug-ins? If you use Chrome the most then of course don't bother. I'm using Firefox but it's the Mac version.
Yes rockem sockem robots in the red and blue colors - perfect.

Very good assumption. Thanks for taking the survey. I know readers are busy and often do not follow links offered. I don't always follow links. I hope you enjoyed the survey. Did it feel too much like a quiz?

lisleman said...

If you click on the "survey link" in the post it will take you to the post with the survey. Yeah Nabors went for a much younger guy. Now they are both old but from the article I learned they have been together many years. I guess the relationship worked.
thanks

appropriate clothes - how could that be? You're expecting so you are expanding daily. Thanks for browsing by and checking out my earlier posts. Hey any chance you'll do another music related challenge? Those were fun.

I have the most recent upgrade of Firefox....but...guess what??? Disqus is back showing on on the Firefox browser. (at least for now...keep your fingers crossed)

I didn't mind it at all. Didn't feel like a quiz.

We've had wacky weather too. 75 on Tuesday and Wednesday andi ts 18 degrees this morning. It just should not be this cold in the south! Speaking of 18...18 year age difference... and I thought I was doing so well with Lawn Boy being 3 years older than me... maybe I should have held out for someone older?! :-)

lisleman said...

Wow don't ask me about relationship questions. I'm clueless but I can always reach in a pull out an opinion. Difference in years are more important when you are 20 or younger. 3 years between 16 and 19 can be a big difference but 3 years between 36 and 39 no big deal. IMHO you should avoid a difference of more than 10. - I might just launch Lisleman's Love Advice blog soon. thanks

"Do you think congress could be replaced by robots?" they aren't already?

lisleman said...

yes sort of. I've heard they spend most of their day seeking donations so they can win the next election. Real robots would not need to be paid and we could open up the very nice Capitol building as a tourist site. Oh the benefits, no sex scandals, no boondoggles, no digging up trash on each other, ... It would be different. thanks

As a kid, I always knew there was something "funny" about Jim Nabors. It didn't bother me, though; he was awesome.

Off to take your survey! :)

lisleman said...

I thought he played a funny goofy character so this was a surprise to me.
thanks

Mrs4444 said...

Maybe I should have said "different." I knew there was something unique about him but couldn't put my finger on it and didn't need to :)

I'm not very sensitive to the usage of PC terms. Being a teacher you probably need to worry about words and phrases more than I.
