with few fragments in between

If you are new here, then welcome to another Friday Fragment (FF) post. If you have been here before, then thanks so much for the return visit. I should start a frequent Friday fragment affinity program. Earning discounts off my next post could be a draw but I would need to charge for the posts first.

If you like FF posts then be sure to visit Mrs. 4444 blog. She has a whole catalog of FF links to share.

Mommy's Idea

Fragments fresh off my fingertips:

If you’re a blogger, on twitter, G+, or on any social media site then followers have a meaning similar but different than a preacher’s followers. Virtual followers don’t give donations as much as church followers. A blog I follow, "Pearl, Why You Little", has a funny post about missing followers.

FB and G+ have taken many readers off the blog road. Those off-blog-riders will miss her good writing.  Pearl’s blog offer cats, bus rides, Mary, drum beats, bar scenes, I-pod lists, cold Northern views, and just funny stuff.  It's blog theme park with free admission.  Her post about missing followers reminds of a recent post I did on that topic:
You won't see me follow your blog home

Did hear about this new theme park idea? Over in France they are making plans for a Napoleon theme park. Your first thought is probably is how high do you need to be for the rides?

Will they have a water ride called “Waterloo”?

This story started me on a little Napoleon research. Regular readers might recall the Lisleman’s research lab. There was more than one Napoleon. The first one is most famous and was defeated at Waterloo (favorite ABBA song). I found the connection between Napoleon III and Cinco de Mayo interesting. Big N number 3 decided to collect on some unpaid bills from Mexico and invaded. The French army was defeated on May 5. There is speculation that the French planned to establish a base in Mexico and then help the South in our civil war.

I feel like having me some youtube. Are you game?

Being that most of you are probably younger than me, you might know more about the party rock group (I always thought rock was a party so that’s redundant) LMFAO. Anyway this duo release a hit titled “Sexy and I Know It” last year. I found two funny parodies on youtube.

I also thought of other possibilities:
Cranky and I Know It
Sixty and I Know It
Forgetful and I Know it

thanks - I like them. " Senior and I know it " would be a good base for a parody.

Ha, I loved your crack about 'how tall to ride the Napoleon rides". My only contribution for the next big song memorializing lawn art is:

"I'm PLASTERED and I GNOME it"

I'm not normally an Elmo fan, but I loved that video! And of course, having gone it three times, I love the pregnant one, too! Thanks for the laughs tonight!

a little double meaning there since gnomes (the lawn type) are made from a plaster.   thanks

I too am a huge fan of Pearl's site.  Yes, having blogged for six years now, I do notice quite a few of my valued fellow bloggers have defected over to Facebook, which is something I mourn (shrug).

You never fail to make me smile, Bill, I always enjoy my visits here - loved the preggie clip!

Always good to know who you are.

And who other people are, too, for that matter.  There is much to parody in the Senior and I know it subject genre.  I'm looking forward to your take on it.  (Don't leave out the joint pain.  I can't wait for a reason to laugh at it.)

Of course they have to have a ride named Waterloo.  I will be very interested to see if that idea gets off the ground.

Waterloo water ride. HAHA! Creative.

I posted the Elmo song awhile back but have not seen the pregnant one. Very funny!

Have a great weekend!

thanks - I certainly spend much more time on blogs than FB.

Yes knowing yourself is essential but not always easy.  I need to work on the parody.  Please submit any ideas that come to you.  I get joint pain in my fingers which is not so good for typing.
thanks

The article I linked sounds very positive on the idea.  I would not be surprised if they dropped the Waterloo since it was a defeat.

lisleman said...

amusement park hell - that's not good since you paid for that.

thanks

I don't think I've watched that whole movie.  I've just seen parts.

Last night when I first read this post, it was 11pm.  I was on my Kindle Fire.  As so many nights past, I tried to leave a comment with Disqus on the Fire.  I either don't know how to do it or it doesn't work.  It only works if I am on my own Disqus Dashboard page in the Admin section replying to comments on my own blogs.  I have yet to find instructions otherwise.  Do you know any tricks?

I have no clue about the Kindle Fire but I have gotten pretty good responds from the DISQUS support group.  I suggest emailing them or  opening a support ticket.
I bet you forgot what your comment was - huh?

I wonder why I didn't get email notification for your reply.  Lisleman, my blog has a new address and it should be on my profile.  Please check it out and visit me.  Thanks Lisleman.

DISQUS seems to be have some issues.  It doesn't load very quickly on my blog.

If I reply it will become a comment right. Trying this for the first time, we'll see.

I saw a YouTube video about old people reacting to "Sexy and I Know It."  And I also saw a horrible cover/parody called something like "Tithing and I Know It" about giving ten percent to the church before you even pay your rent.

lisleman said...

That's a strange parody idea on tithing.  thanks
