A few days ago, I had an evening meeting on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. I found reasonable evening parking a few blocks away and sun was still shining low in the sky so I snapped a few pictures along my way to the meeting.
The large silver glass building in the last 3 photos is the new Trump tower. Back when it was being built I found an interesting collection of photos taken by a crane operator. Check it out.

PS (does anyone even use “PS” anymore? Like who writes letters much anyway.) I’ve added another youtube clip with my latest mechanical creation. I’m not getting much interest on youtube with it but it’s short - less than 2 minutes. Got a minute plus - click over to my Playing Around page.

love Chicago so much. I passed on a job offer there 23 years ago. I sometimes wonder "what if?" but, who knows? it's still the best radio town in the world.
I so love Chicago, although I've pretty much only been there when it's freezing outside. Those crane photos are great! I do wonder what it would be like to be up there and then I'm glad that I don't have that job. The photo opportunities though seem to be great. I may need to rethink my career goals :)
I'll try to visit that clip! Promise! Loved your photos!
I've never been to Chicago which is hard to believe since I live in Michigan and it's not that long of a drive. I love your pictures! Makes me think I should start planning a road trip.
First time I've heard it called the best radio town. So we have better radio stations? thanks
First time I visited Chicago was 1979. WLUP, WBBM A/F, WLS A/F, WROQ (I think), WXRT, GN, WLOO, WMAQ...just a few of the biggies I remember. Paul Harvey was king of the AM airwaves, the guy @ the LUP was burning the disco records in one of the stadiums (can't remember which one) and on & on.
Offered a sales job @ WIND 10 yrs later but turned it down.

It's sad, but I've only been to Chicago once. I went for a conference last spring and it was a pretty awesome 3 day tour of pizza and beer. I'd really like to go back again, but most of my traveling is to NYC because that's where the family is.
That river is one of the cleanest I've ever seen.
Agreed on not wanting the crane job - the pictures are really neat to look at, but thinking about having to actually take them makes me feel ill.
It has been cleaned up over the years and one day they hope to have fishing in it again. I think better than the river is the lake front. I've been swimming in the lake many times. thanks
So glad you took the time to take these pics. They are great.
PS I'm off to catch up on your other posts.
PPS I've got a newborn on my lap so I may not comment on them all.
thanks for browsing by. Someday you'll be able to tell her that you surfed the internet with her on your lap. Makes me wonder how she will communicate with whatever the internet becomes when she grows up.
all the best
