short walk along Chicago River

A few days ago, I had an evening meeting on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. I found reasonable evening parking a few blocks away and sun was still shining low in the sky so I snapped a few pictures along my way to the meeting.

The large silver glass building in the last 3 photos is the new Trump tower. Back when it was being built I found an interesting collection of photos taken by a crane operator. Check it out.

PS (does anyone even use “PS” anymore? Like who writes letters much anyway.) I’ve added another youtube clip with my latest mechanical creation. I’m not getting much interest on youtube with it but it’s short - less than 2 minutes. Got a minute plus - click over to my Playing Around page.

chicago from the top

+++ update +++ I'm linking this to Unknown Mami's Sunday in my City because this links to a month of Sundays of Chicago pictures. I didn't take them but they were taken from a very unique location - a crane on top of a skyscraper - how cool is that?

click the link to the slide below - it's worth it.

Have you ever looked up at one those cranes used to build tall structures like skyscrapers, and wondered what it would be like to be in one??

Have you ever wondered what working on skyscraper would be like?

Do you look up much?

Well with things looking down in so many directions lately maybe we should all start looking up more.

Anyway, back to the picture. I got one of those forwarded emails from a friend and thought ok probably some goofy maybe fake pictures. Well I was very surprised to find some AMAZING photos.

This crane operator, Ken Derry, has been working on the Trump tower in Chicago. For the readers that don't know, it's located on the Chicago river next to the historical Wrigley building. It's a beautiful location at the ground level and even better up on top.

My only disappointment was that these pictures can't be downloaded without paying. There is a nice slide show built into
the site so take a look - you'll enjoy it.
