float a fragment friday

Have you ever experienced a heighten awareness of things? For example you just bought a car and then start noticing every car of the same model on the road. A few posts ago, I wrote about daylight saving time and alien abductions. Now I noticed a report that Sammy Hager of Van Halen says he was abducted by aliens.

Do you have an awareness of Fridays? I heard once that Thursday is the new Friday. How dumb is that?

Well, over in my part of blogland (are we owners or renters in blogland?) Friday means Mrs. 4444 host Friday Fragments. Check out FF by clicking the button/badge at the bottom.

Elizabeth Taylor died this week.  She certainly was the definition of Hollywood celebrity.  Here’s a tidbit about her.  She outlived outlived one of her obituary writers.  I doubt I’ll ever have an obituary writer do a piece on me, but that’s one part of celebrity life that I could care less about.

“We're all clueless about the age we are until we've passed it.”

That quote came from a column by Mary Schmich in the Chicago Tribune.  You might recall I have mentioned her name before.  I only know her from her columns.  She has replied to an email or two in the past.  Of course, she is up on FB.  She uses her FB page to get ideas and opinions from “fans”.

Facebook is really showing up all over.  I just finished my taxes with turbotax and the completion screen offered a FB button so that I could “brag” about finishing my taxes.  I don’t need no FB button, I’ll just brag on my blog - I finished my taxes.

Here’s a times-are-a-changing story -  A mother sues pre-school over the lessons given to her 4 year old.  She claims her 4 year old will not get into an Ivy League school now.  Four years old and mom has given up on you - poor little girl.

Here’s a quote from the story:
"Indeed, the school proved not to be a school at all, but just one big playroom," the suit says.

Oh my a playroom, lady the kid is ONLY 4.  All I can say is these people live in some other world than me and I would not even want to visit it.

Sammy has all the cool stuff happen to him. I saw him on Celebrity Ghost Stories too.

'are we owners or renters in blogland?' - we're probably just squatters ...

I agree lisleman - some people live in a world that I wouldn't want to visit either ... the sad thing is that it wouldn't be surprising if she actually wins her lawsuit ...

Sounds like that preschooler's mother is one crazy lady. Reminds me of the book I read recently: "Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother."

Stopping by from FF.

ghosts, aliens, - maybe I could sell him a seance.

squatter - didn't think of that option - that's a good one.

I have seen that she was being interviewed by everyone. I didn't watch much but got the idea that she was demanding. The whole tiger thing has me thinking of the Charlie Sheen nut.

I know your relief Man. Compiling taxes here on the Ponderosa is a nightmare to say the least!!! I thought we were hung out to dry this year and were goin' to owe huge amounts of moola to the IRS. Much to my surprise we're gettin' a refund!! Woohoo...maybe Farm Boy is correct in assumin' it helps to by things with VIN numbers!!! (one of his favorite pastimes!)

When I comes to age I don't even like to think of it a numbers 'cause I don't feel old!!! :o)

Another great week of fragments!

God bless ya and have a fantastic Friday!!!

Buying vehicles helped get you a refund? Whatever works. You should post some pictures of his collection. I'm sure he would enjoy the audience. Your skill at creating phrases would also add fun to the descriptions of the cars.
all the best and have a great weekend.

"I'm a verbal diarrhoea spewing squatter in the blogosphere!" Try saying that fast after a few ethanolic libations.

Hmm I've never put the "ic" on ethanol but after too many ethanolic libations I can't see so well. thanks

Crazy story: I bought a Ford Freestyle in 2007. Before seeing it in the lot, I'd never seen one before and instantly fell in love with it. We were lucky enough to get financed... Now, there are 2 other RED ones {just like mine} and at least 5 more of various colors running around town... In fact one lady {my old English teacher} went out of town to get a car "that no one else in town would have" right about the time I got mine...

It is quite strange and sad to think that a parent has given up on a four year old. Doesn't sound like she's up for home schooling, does it?

lisleman said...

thanks for sharing - Yes that does seem weird.

lisleman said...

good to hear - thanks

lisleman said...

OMG - home schooling from that lady? OK I really don't have ANY knowledge of these people but just using stereotyping which doesn't work, I've concluded that the mother is an egoistical princess with a pea brain. Now I hope her lawyers don't read blogs.

That is crazy that the mother is outraged over preschool or any grade for that matter! I'm not happy with how my son's Kindergarten teacher teaches, but we just make sure we teach him at home because we know what his learning style is and what it takes him to learn. I wouldn't be mad about it, and you're right it's only a 4-year-old! lol

Oh and congratulations on getting your taxes done!

lisleman said...

thanks - maybe having too money ruins your thinking abilities.

LIFE should be a big playroom when you are 4.

Well then, happy day after Friday. I hope Saturdays never become the new Sundays as weekends go by too fast as it is.

Your fragments are too, don't have equally interesting comments to match but I'll try.

There is a show called Ancient Aliens and there are theories that aliens are who had impregnate our homo sapien grandmothers and teach us how to build buildings such as the pyramids.

My son was amazed to learn that Elizabeth Taylor was the girl in Lassie.

We don't do obituaries.

Fb is everywhere. Have you seen the movie the Social Network? I have not, but interested.

I am not counting on anybody to teach my children anything. They'll learn what they'll learn.

Is she the one that paid the $19,000 tuition for preschool?

Lance said...

yeah, we did our taxes online a couple of months ago and saw that facebooj button. It creeped me out, bad.

Thanks for my blog comment. I really like what you're doing here.

Lance

lisleman said...

Lance thanks - I enjoyed finding your blog.

lisleman said...

Yes I believe so but that tuition was not a news item. Sad that we have such a gap between super rich and normal families that a preschool tuition of $19,000 is not a big deal to some families.

Kristin_The_Goat said...

Those facebook share buttons are just everywhere - it doesn't surprise me at all they were on your tax place. Sheesh. --- The kid is only four! That's just crazy talk.

lisleman said...

Ancient Aliens - I don't believe it.
Lassie - I'm not that familiar with the movie but I watched the TV many times as a kid.
Obituaries are not part of the culture/religion?
Social Network - good movie but I didn't think it deserved any Oscars.
