People give their gadgets personal names.
Good story in the Chicago Tribune today (also LA Times - same company) about this gadget naming.
The fun part was Irvin Gordon’s reason for getting a GPS device. He drives much more than most of us and he knows his way around. The reason for his GPS - from the article -
...Still, six years ago, he went out and bought himself a TomTom, not so much because he required navigational assistance but because he missed having someone to argue with.
"I argue with her all the time. A lot of times I know better than she does what's the best route," boasts Gordon, 70, a retired science teacher from Long Island, N.Y., who started driving 100,000 miles a year after his divorce in 1996, just because he could. His GPS reminds him of his ex-wife...
I’ve been known to turn off the voice on GPS devices. If possible I rather have a passenger read the GPS to me. I have never named a GPS gadget.
What’s the name of your favorite gadget?

Excellent question. I think my TMobile MyTouch is awesome. And inappropriate.
YOu know if you move up to a truck, you could get paid for all that driving.
My KitchenAid is named Mixie. My husband named his Droid GPS Barbara.
I don't name my gadgets but I name my plants.
DUCKY is my pink, rubber, waterproof, personal massager.
good point. He could have at least delivery something like flowers or drugs.
do you know Barbara?
Not Jolly Green Giant - or - Sweet Peas - or - Baby Carrot - right?
that is borderline more-information-than-I-want-to-know
I don't name mine either, but I should because I like that idea. :)
I'm pretty gadget-less, so I don't have to name them! Good thing because I'm terrible with names.
I've never named one either though I find them quite helpful when in an unfamiliar area. I still get lost but can always find a Kentucky Fried Chicken even if it is 500 miles away! W.C.C.
Maybe KFC should offer an app for finding the nearest store. thanks for stopping by.
Hey there, Congrats on your FF award. High Five.
And congrats on knowing jeopardy answers.... I watch all the time and am usually stumped.
Have a great weekend, jj
thanks - you should write about Watson.
I guess I'm odd--I don't give names to innanimate objects.
I think the opposite is odd. Naming an inanimate object shows that you are probably getting too personal with it.
