fabulous fabricated fricasseed friday fragments

Please visit the fragment hostess Mrs. 4444. Mrs. 4444’s moniker often inspires me to find stuff related to 4444. If you check my past FF posts (click the fragments tag) you’ll find a few 4444 things I’ve discovered.  With 4444 stuck in my mind I went searching on youtube (source of great information) and I found this clip titled (I’ll embed the video at the bottom)
4444 Toothpicks In My Hair, Doing Something Funny For Money For The Charity Red Nose Day.

I get this afternoon newsletter in my email called BizWrap. I got a laugh when I read the following:
Technical glitch hits some AOL e-mail accounts. In other news, there are still some people with AOL e-mail accounts

Stopped in Starbucks this afternoon.

Their Wi-Fi setup is so much easier now and completely free. I remember years ago when Panera Bread came out with free Wi-Fi but other places like Starbucks decided they needed to charge for it. A Few Clowns Short - Dumb. Everytime I’ve used a hotspot I have always purchased something.

Along with my coffee this afternoon I downloaded a free song from Amos Lee. The current offered song shows up on the landing page when you accept the wi-fi connection. This made downloading it very simple. A free song is like extra marshmallows in your cocoa (yes I was drinking coffee but I failed to think of a coffee related example).

As I look around I see about 4 laptops going here in the middle of the week middle of the afternoon. Don’t you agree typing on a laptop looks more serious than gazing at a smartphone?

Is it weird that I dislike it when comment sections require blogger approval? If I comment as a registered person do you really need to moderation my comment? What does seem weird is that I like to see my comment listed. Also when I reread it and find errors I know I’m still human.

New word for the week - comedogenic - sounds funny?

Bumba - god of vomit?
“Whiter Shade of Pale” by Procol Harum is a favorite classic rock song of mine. Brings back memories of nights filled with fun and vomit.

So I just finished this book, “The Grand Design”. I plan to post more about it later. The creation myth of Bumba is mentioned in the book. The short of it is Bumba was an African god that had a hell of bellyache and vomited up the sun. Talk about acid reflex.

This best part of the 4444 clip is the end when he quickly removes the toothpicks.

I know bloggers have to moderate because of nasty comments.

And this just reminds me that I am bitter that we don't have Panera.

I want to comment on so many of your fragments! I never feel like I can trust someone who has an AOL email to be internet savvy. I'm just sure they are going to ask far too many questions. I have a lawyer friend who has an AOL account for his law account. Every time I see him I badger him about it.

I'm a lot like you when it comes to comments - I want to see mine in that list and I also wonder what others have said that haven't been approved yet. I also don't want to have to remember which blogger had the moderated comments and come back to read the comment section later. sigh. Such is the life, huh? :)

nasty comments can just be deleted. Yes someone might noticed it before you delete it but everyone understands.
No Panera Bread? I'll take pictures next time and post them for you.

My sister still has an AOL email. But she can get email on her smartphone - go figure? Blogger really should update their comment system.
thanks

Good to know about the Starbucks Wi Fi

i get what you are saying about the comments, but what if a person has a personal stalker? and there are some comments that bloggers really never want out there. i have to moderate along with all the other safety features, but oh well.

our current duty station has panera across the street from starbucks!! woohoo!! we have been places where there is no panera, panera 20min away... i like me some panera!

I sure wouldn't waste my time putting 4,444 toothpicks in my hair and IF I did, especially wouldn't video it for the whole world to see.

Stopping by from Friday Fragments.

Didn't someone on American Idol sing an Amos Lee song the other night?

lisleman said...

I didn't think of that problem. I have heard of a few bloggers having that problem. Weird people out there. thanks for reminding me.

lisleman said...

don't watch the show but the two Amos Lee songs I have (free) I like.

I moderate comments, but that is because I often write about childhood sexual abuse issues, and some of the comments that I get on those posts are beyond nasty. I think in wordpress you can approve specific people (like regular commenters) to go through automatically each time and only moderate new commenters, but blogger does not have that option.

I'm pretty sure that I do not know a single person who has an AOL account. At least, not since 1997.

lisleman said...

that's understandable. I give you credit for writing about a painful and serious matter like that. thanks

I'm mortified to admit that I still use AOL! It drives my husband crazy and he blames it for any and all viruses that might attack my computer. I agree with you - laptops look more businesslike for sure! Have a great weekend!

I wonder what I look like in Starbucks? I don't have a lap top OR a smart phone! But at least I don't have AOL email!

lisleman said...

that's good - You gave me a thought - go into a fairly crowded Starbucks and have the "you have mail" go off loud effort for people to hear and see their reaction.

Wow! That video was something else! I loved it--laughed out loud all the way through it. I think I would like to meet that guy (but not clean up the mess in his livingroom--It's too bad toothpicks aren't magnetic.) It's been ages since I did the Favorite Friday Fragments thing, and this has inspired me to bring it back! Thanks!

Loved the little cutie in the dryer, too. Reminds me of the time I allegedly put my sister in the dryer and turned it on. yikes. (Wait a second--As I recall, she might have volunteered.)

I still have an AOL account. I like that you can have a master account and can manage children accounts with it. There might be better ways, but it works and it's FREE.

as I mentioned in a reply, my sister still does. She used the control features and probably didn't want to learn a new one. Also, I've been through the email address changing which is a real pain to get everyone alerted. There are many free ones out there. yahoo, gmail to name just two. Hey I had an earthlink one for a long time - remember them? thanks for sharing

P.S. Loved the fancy dividers, too! :)

very glad you enjoyed the video. I'm not much of a clean freak and I was even thinking those toothpicks are creating one hell of a mess. I'd be afraid to sit on the couch after that.
That's a grandson in the dryer but if you look closely you'll see the door is open and he has his foot on it. Did you really turn it on?

Too many F words, friend! I had to turn the sound off the video in order to watch and hurry it along some, but I sometimes think I am just an old fuddy duddy as I did not get it. It was kinda cool to watch the guy shake his head vigorously to toss the toothpicks around the house in wild abandon so someone could pick them all up for him.

Oh so funny!!
The book sounds interesting in a weird sort of way.
I am so blind therefor I certainly think typing on a laptop is MUCH more serious...but I do want a smart phone...

lisleman said...

thanks - The book is about physics and the theory of everything. It just had about one page about the vomit god myth. I found it a very well written and interesting but then I enjoy physics.

lisleman said...

It would be better if he shorten it but I guess if I had done something that stupid I would want to share the whole thing. It was so stupid it was funny to me. thanks
