what's it all about

Life is strange at times right?

Yesterday my friend across the pond in Ireland sent this my way.

I don't know if he is awesome but he has an awesome friend that takes interesting pictures.  (oh that's not my friend.  who is awesome for sending me this)

Then I took a little electronic trip over to the land of OZ or downunder.  Now, I'm pondering the thought provoking post by Lilly.  Here's part of my comment on that:
Interesting how one word can become a theme for your life. My word would be BALANCE. It goes back to my mom, my engineering background, my observations of ups and downs, and even learning about some philosophies. I think there is even a balance between life and death.
That bunny guy above has balance.

Next islandroar, Maureen roars in with the question of the empty nest and offers this:
Things that seemed destined to go on forever were, in fact, fleeting.
What's it all about?

Maybe this blogger in Africa has some clues.  Well he had some amazing pictures and a funny story.  I guess he can fart like a lion.

Can life be a gas?

I don't know but sometimes a good fleeting fart can lighten the mood and balance out your day.

If youtube works for you - enjoy this version of "What's it all about Alfie".   Cher looks great in this one.

Yes, I couldn't agree with you more - it's all a question of balance ... life is a gas and I'm a bag of hot air ... thanks for the mention in your post lisleman, I appreciate it ...

Cher and I share the same birthday and similar noses.

you are very welcome and thanks for that story - it was a gas and that's a bad pun.

That is a great picture. Not only does he have balance, he has strength... that is HARD jumping like that. And the photographer got it w/o being blurry. Way Way cool.

you write this as if may know the bunny guy. Do you?

The Bunny must have a girlfriend that took the picture and thinks he is awesome.

Life is about missing someone. At least that's what I think.

Cher does look awesome. I enjoyed the singing. It is a little unCher.

Funny photo of the jumping bunny guy.

I liked Cher better pre-chopped and plasticized.

In a somewhat philosophical mood, I think a balanced life would be ideal. The problem is we keep falling off the tightrope, only to get back on and regain our balance. It is a constant and tiring pursuit, just like the bunny.

I like it. The way you tied in the bunny guy was good. thanks

she's a favorite of mine. Sonny and Cher days were good and her performance in Moonstruck was top notch.

You are probably right about the girlfriend. It's sad to be missing someone that was such big part of your life. My experience with that is limited but my parents are gone. I especially missed my mom. But having her memories is a wonderful gift. I've read some of your memories on your blog and I believe they give you peace. Thanks for sharing.

I'm with Maureen on the empty nest. I enjoyed mine for a year. My son just graduated from college and has moved back home until he can find a decent job. My daughter is also home for the summer. I miss my empty nest already!

thanks for sharing - That's seems the opposite of what I thought the empty nest issue was. I agree, an empty nest can be relaxing.

Dave, you have added a new meaning to "doing it my way".

Hi Lisleman, quick query if I may. All the names and avatars on the commentators have gone. Is it me or you?

lisleman said...

do you mean on my blog or yours? My comments look OK at the moment.

dave hambidge said...

On my screen the only avatar name showing on YOUR blog is your last reply to me, above this reply.

dave hambidge said...

then when I entered the above via dizqus they ALL apppeared for a few seconds, then ALL went again...

lisleman said...

I suspect it's the combination of your browser and disqus system. You could report it on their help page. I have experienced the avatars not showing all the time. Sometimes I get just a few. Probably a time-out somewhere. Well it's a good thing we are not doctors discussing a surgery - oh wait you are a doctor.

I last navigated a scalpel into a patient in 1986, a drunken soldier on his third night in the army FFS, who fell and cut his head open; I didn't bother with any anaesthetic he was so pissed...

That picture IS awesome! Balance...difficult to achieve, but is definitely the goal for myself.
