very quick note on comments

I made the switch to a comment system called Disqus (don't you just love names that are made up?) and I really hope everyone likes it.  I talked about doing this two posts ago.
What I like the best about it (even before using it here) is the 'reply to' function.  It's much more interactive.  Also, you can reply to another comment.  This reply function can be found on many of the wordpress type blogs.  I'm going to try it right now so I'm leaving a practice comment to myself.

Alright, so if there's a comment (you do read the other comments right? I do.) that you want to add to or comment on then click the reply below the comment.

so I clicked the reply and now this comment is nested below the other comment.

Is this the one where you have to register and have a password? I did that for someone else's blog and the password is remembered by my home computer, but if I tried to answer from anywhere else I'd be sunk.

thanks for keeping at it. My experience with it (I used it for commenting on other blogs) was after the initial sign-on problem it works very easily.

got it thanks - faster than a messge in a bottle

yes the problem of having so many passwords. They do offer signing in with your facebook account if you have one of those.

yes that's is nice feature too. Of course you can only edit your own comments.

thanks for trying out the comment system - now I need to write a post about something other than comments

I've registered with DISQUS to see if that helps, NO! When I use that login no commenting box appears, just a list of what's been said.

I'm not sure what problem you are having. As you can see your comment is up here now. Maybe you could find some help over at disqus.com. There is two different ways of using it. One way is just for comments. It will keep track of your comments made on blogs with disqus. And the other way it putting it on your blog. I'm using both services.

lisleman, me and DISQUS are incompatible. If I try commenting with the disqus login I created it just shows the list of commenmts already made without any new comment box. I hope this has posted as guest. If enthusiasm returns I shall try again later.

this one shows 'DAVE' as a guest. Maybe an email to disqus could answer your question?

lisleman said...

thanks - looks like an electronic string and a can works - how were the beans?

if it helps Dave at all, I set up my blogs on OpenID and don't tend to have a problem with Disqus and Wordpress, though once every so often I'll need to remind them of the URLs. I have noticed, though, that with Disqus it's bet's to sign in first then comment.

What browser are you using? Sometimes I think it's a browser issue. I've gotten the same complaint on my blog, which uses Disqus to, but when I check it from my end or have Disqus check it we can't find anything wrong. Are you using IE?

no sign in necessary to leave comment - you do need a valid email address

it will ask you to register and offer you to create a password but you can just skip that and comment as a guest.
