It must be getting early, clocks are running late.
I wish more people viewed it that way. We don’t run late. The clocks run late/early. Some of you might recall that line is the first line of the Grateful Dead’s song, “Touch of Grey”.
I’m not a dead head. Often a bed head but not a dead head. I have more than a touch of grey too. I like a few of their songs. That is one of them. “Friend of the Devil” also gets my foot tapping and my mind thinking.
I’ll include a youtube clip of “Touch of Grey” below. I would have thought the title would have been “I Will Get By” since that phrase is repeated in the chorus.
I will get by. I will abide. Hey the dude abides - right?
Last weekend the better half and I attended my 45th high school reunion. This time it also included a tour of the high school.
Just a side thought - I’ve come to realize many schools have been closed over the years. Two of the other high schools in my hometown have closed since I was a teen. My wife’s high school closed-up this year. I guess I’m lucky my school is still there and in use. A familiar landmark when I visit my hometown.
The tour was very interesting. The school expanded a few times with new halls and buildings. The cafeteria was move from one side of the complex to the other. I found the outside more familiar than the inside.
The tour was given by their current principal, a young (relative to our group) energetic lady. At the end of the tour, I asked her, “Do you have a swimming pool now?”
She answers she used to but got rid of it. After seeing the puzzlement on my face, she realizes I was asking about the school. She laughs and tells me that plans to have one at the school failed. Then I turned to her and said, “I really was not trying to invite myself over to your pool.”
The reunion was fun. They handed out a short pop quiz about 1971. I got a few right. Did you know the 26th amendment was ratified that year? (yeah, you don't have a clue what the 26th amendment amended either - I had to look it up) They pointed out that this was the first reunion where all the classmates qualified for social security.
Five years ago at the 40th, I was in a picture with two others (C and M). This year I was talking with C when M came by taking pictures. They liked my suggestion of taking a new picture of the three of us. Now since I don’t like putting pictures of non-family people on the internet, I just cropped my face from the two pictures. Just to add more confusion I added a third face shot from this year. So in the picture below - two are from this year and one is from 5 years ago. I think I have plateaued on my looks.
I will get by.

I will get by.
The shoe is on the hand that fits, there's really nothing much to it
Whistle through your teeth and spit 'cause it's alright
Oh well a touch of grey kinda suits you anyway
And that was all I had to say and it's alright
