i put a fragment on you

“I Put A Spell On You” song is a favorite. It’s been covered by many since Screamin’ Jay Hawkins first recorded in 1956.

Well kids it’s Friday Fragment time once again here at the Institute For Better Posting. I and a gaggle of other bloggers will be putting out fragments for your enjoyment. Now please don’t rush over to Mrs. 4444’s blog for the fragment feast until you have looked over my fragments because I want to put a fragment on you. They are candy for your mind.

Frustrationbook is what facebook becomes too often. A recent status update (such a dumb term) I wrote on my FB page:

Facebook
Nothing more than facebook
Trying to forget my
Facebook of status updates
(sung to the tune of the 70’s hit “Feelings”)

Do you think I could rock those dreadlocks? I was searching around for voodoo and found this hairpiece at a costume store.  If I wore that I could really put a fragment on you.

Be careful browsing around the web of this internet because it so easy to go off on a tangent and lose time and that original thought that started your journey. Just this morning I went from reading an opinion about the buggy whip analogy to discovering that hoodoo and voodoo are actually different. Who know?

I thought I should start a regular feature here (I'm so irregular at times but that's TMI) -- Lisleman’s lines from his shower. Here's my first one:
I’m getting older losing my grip, so I’ve added an ‘e’ and now gripe.

My train of thought has left the station, oh well. Here's a parody of "Feelings" I found very funny. Go ahead put a comment on me.

Love the grip to gripe. I have been adding e's this week as well.

Always enjoy your fragments and your musical references. My favorite version of 'Feelings' is Carol Burnett as Eunice : ) http://youtu.be/bvRtHuMm1BQ

oops-didn't realize the whole video would post. I thought just the link would show!

I can relate, I waste so much time searching and not doing the things I need to do!

Grip to Gripe, huh? Gripe is the word for a bad cold or the flu in Honduras. Be careful with that, but of course I like to gripe when I have the gripe.

I've known about gripe for more than forty years. I went to bed once and for three days my husband took care of the baby. It was the gripe, my grandma said.

thanks so much - that's great
Carol Burnett sure knew how to be funny.

NO problem - This is one of the features I like about Disqus. It's easier (not that's a big deal) than clicking over to youtube.
thanks

Yeah I got the institute and research labs both going. Often at the same time! Our hours are irregular an infrequent. We (myself and my imaginary staff) open when the mood strikes me. Please reference the institute anytime.
That video didn't have many views. It's a good parody. One problem with youtube parodies of older songs is much of the youtube audience were not born yet.
thanks

Done wear out the letter 'e'. thanks

I guess some of it is a waste. It's matter of opinion I think. When the opinion is coming from your boss, well that opinion needs to be paid attention. Often you discover new things by searching around. I didn't know of hoodoo before my recent trip on the clicks. I'm not sure what good it is to know of hoodoo but if I find out you'll read about it here.
thanks

lisleman said...

I didn't know that. Is it slang or an actually Spanish word?
thanks

Gripe is a real word for the flu. Pronounced gri pay

lisleman said...

"the gripe" - that's a new for me. The gripe is different from griping and not caused by griping then.
thanks

lisleman said...

thanks As I have said before blogging is educational and you are one of my Spanish tutors.

hoodoo -v- voodoo, and here I was wondering why you were comparing geological rock formations to voodoo. :D
I often get caught in the web and lose track of time, but then I have no concept of time to begin with.
Have a great weekend.

definitely having more of a gripe than a grip here this week too..

lisleman said...

Hoping you have a better week. thanks

Having no concept of time, at times can be useful. That does and doesn't make sense at the same time. Thanks for spending a bit of time here.

I really thought I might be watching a real burglary in the 'Feelings' video until he stole the dog. No one really steals a dog, right? Why steal something that might poop on your carpet?

lisleman said...

Hey I just noticed you added A Few Clowns Short to your followed list on Bloglovin - thanks I did the same for your blog.
Regarding criminals - a quick look at the many arrest stories will show there is an abundance of dumb criminals. I don't think dog theft is much of a problem but I've heard of it. thanks again

I agree that "status update" is a stupid term but then what should it be called? Any ideas? I can't figure out a term that would describe 90 percent of the insignificant status updates on FB.

As for you looking up voo-doo and researching dreadlocks...Should we be calling you Witch Doctor Lisleman?

I totally agree with the time suck that goes along with being on the Internet. I am always going off on tangents.

lisleman said...

Brain fart comes to mind. I was reading this opinion piece on some site and I clicked on a suggested story about lawsuits over internet published reviews (could be future post) and I thought that person doesn't need a lawyer but a good voodoo witch/doctor. After a few tangents on the voodoo I ended up with dreadlocks. However, now I'm thinking with the new Colorado kool-aid, I mean pot law, dreadlocks could be a new trend.
thanks
