Only one of the photos in today's post was taken by me. Since the other photos are old you'll be able to figure it out.
The October issue of National Geographic features the Power of Photography story. We love our subscription to National Geographic. The only problem really is getting rid of the magazines. They are so good it is hard to throw them out. We even checked to see if our library would take them. They didn't want them.
On the last page they have been showing an old photographic from their archives. I noticed in the description of the October issue photo this blog mentioned, NatGeoFound.tumblr.com - this is where the old photos posted here are linked from.

"By wresting a precious particle of the world from time and space and holding it absolutely still, a great photograph can explode the totality of our world, such that we never see it quite the same again." from the article by Robert Draper

Cool photos! I love National Geographic, maybe you could check with a nearby elementary school. I use to bring in old issues for my kids to use the photo's to tie together geography, sociology and art in a single project.
Maybe a hospital/clinic waiting room would take the Old National Geographics?
Other interesting things in the tourist picture were the flatiron buildings, the "skywalk" and the woman on a cellphone.
Fabulous shots!
thanks

Your comment sent me looking up flatiron type of buildings - wedge shaped - the one with the clock showing is the Wrigley building.
I love old photographs. Interesting that it's hard to get rid of good magazines such as National Geographic. I agree that it seems wasteful to throw them away.
We did throw a few boxes away. But they build up quickly. thanks
Very cool photos! I love National Geographic, too, and have the same problem of wanting to keep them all!
check out that site but be warned that you might be there awhile.
thanks
