floating fragments

As you float into Friday, don’t sink, try to think, of fragments of course.  If you haven't been, don't forget to check Mrs. 4444’s place for the fragment chatter.

Mommy's Idea

If you are a FF generator and/or reader do you have a favorite FF post? Like all posts some are better than others. Here’s a link to a home grown favorite -

Do all bloggers feel like they need to wave their arms to get some attention?

Thinking of little kids, do you remember when you could fit in small places?  There can be advantages to being small.  Our youngest granddaughter paid a visit this past week.  I am curious to see next time if she remembers where we store the toys.

I should train her with a wrench she is the right size for fixing sink drains

Puzzling - My wife was working the newspaper crossword puzzle the other day.  There was a science/math related clue so she asked me.  I had my laptop running so I doubled checked my answer on wikipedia (got it right).  The surprise result from the internet search was crosswords research sites matching the phrase used in the clue.  For any crossword puzzlers reading this - do you use the crossword puzzle sites for answers?
(it's still Friday update - maybe the above fragment prompted Joanne to post her crossword puzzle competition story - I don't know but like to think so.  Doesn't matter because her story is a wonderful one - here's the link Cup on the Bus blog)

Every four years in US the swingers come out in the swing states. Both sides are invited to a party, but apparently they don't party together.

What do swing states become after the election?

My aunt completed the daily crossword in one go. In ink. During breakfast. My mother could not bear the thought. She spent time and had books to reference and my sister to ask, but could still be working it out at supper. Or, worse yet, sneaking a peek at the answer the next day.

Oh my gosh, that table took me back. We had one just like it when I was a kid. Next to a sofa with gold and green striped velvet upholstery.

Yes, your granddaughter will remember where the toys are! :)

There is a picture of me on the bottom of a tea cart at my grandmother's house that the pic of that gorgeous little girl reminded me of (except she's much cuter ... I was kind of a grouchy child and never smiled lol)

You aunt had the knack for them. I think you develop a sense of how the clues are worded and of course you need a vast vocabulary and good spelling. I don't spell well. thanks for sharing

The table came from my MIL so the time period makes sense. thanks

Probably but I need to remember not to take them out and see if goes to the table.

Didn't we all climb into spaces and places were only small people could go? Well hopefully I brought back a fun memory for you. thanks.

Wow I could not even get a FOOT inside that cabinet that your daughter sits in!!! She would be great for fixing stuff under cabinets. My Dad at 77 years of age still works crosswords and only uses PEN. His real claim to fame is that he has done over 200 Cryptograms which is fine but probably no big deal right ? - the thing is that he does not write down anything and just breaks the code only in his head, then writes down the answer and numbers it - Amazing! I have a husband who does the crossword in pen and a sister-in-law who does cryptograms in her head. I have neither skill, and work better in the morning than after the evening paper arrives. But working at doing them is better for my brain than ignoring them---I hope.

I love when kids crawl into things. It is cute.

lisleman said...

Yes it reminds me of how much smaller they are.

lisleman said...

Sure but it might be awhile

"They" say it helps improve your brain but "they" say lots of things. I do Sudoku puzzles but I think blogging simulates my ideas more. thanks

You are right. Cookies too. Swing state - oh you must be sick of the ad bombardment. thanks

The little guy has his own man-cave - I'm jealousy.

That is amazing cryptogram juggling. I wonder if many people number and save (I assume) completed puzzles.

I have almost an exact picture of me at my grandparents house doing the same thing. Is that a grandparent thing, hiding the toys in furniture just so they can get a cute picture?

That cartoon cracked me up, that's exactly how I feel on a regular basis. I think we had that exact furniture piece that your granddaughter is hiding in. I wish I could go back to those days where I was small enough to find something to hide inside!!

lisleman said...

Oh maybe you are on to something. There's not as many toys so this cabinet was handy. thanks

Wanting to hide out? I think we all have that feeling at times. thanks
