if i were a fragment

I would love Fridays because fragments get noticed on Fridays. Go see Mrs. 4444's blog to learn more about Friday Fragments (FF).

Mommy's Idea

Two fragments that popped into my head recently:
At what point should you start cooking and eating your nest egg?
Antique Shows - where people appreciate age.

I avoid politics on this blog for many reasons. But I’m wondering what you think of the “battleground state” focus that’s used by both sides. I’m glad not to be in a battleground state since political noise is much louder in those states. What is your opinion of national campaigns focusing on just a few states? I either didn’t notice it years ago or it wasn’t the common approach back then. I’m not asking which side you favor just your take on the battleground idea.

Here’s a shot at another Lisleman saying:
Quick success appeals to those who have not experienced enough quick failure.

Isn’t that a cool piece of artwork? I found the picture while browsing around. It’s not photoshopped. The place is in New Zealand so I guess plenty of cows and sheep get to see it. I don’t think I’ve ever had a reader/follower from there yet. If you happen to know anything about this place please let me know. Here’s a link where you can see more angles of it.

hmmm this divider is not great

I got this email with a collection of funny cat and dog pictures. I’ve never had one and never plan to own a cat, but I liked this one:

I watched our youngest granddaughter this week (will be one in Nov.). I discovered her enjoyment of feeding her dog from the high chair was stronger than her own appetite. It’s fun to watch as they figure out something. It’s also good that I’m not responsible for cleaning the floor.

Hehe Bill - I'll avoid politics on your blog too ...

here's what I know about New Zealand: they have an awesome rugby team called the All Blacks and before each game they do a war dance called the Haka which scares the crap out of their opponents ... search 'All Blacks Haka' on youtube ...

I can't WAIT to have grandchildren. Unfortunately, my sons can. They are not ready for marriage let alone kids. I'll be so old by the time a new little one comes into my life. sigh.

Cats are as wonderful as dogs. They are so beautiful and smart and funny and sweet. I love cats. The recession has hit cats hard. Less people are adopting cats & dogs but less adopting cats by a huge margin. So sad.

The good thing I'll assume is your sons are responsibility enough to wait until they are ready to be a father. It should be a big step. Are there nephews or nieces with little ones?
I did not know that about dog vs. cat adoptions. Based on little knowledge, I think cats would be easier to care for.

Thanks - war dance before rugby - rugby appears to be pushing shoving war game itself. I can't imagine a war dance before a baseball game but performing one would make many of the games more fun.

They've been hearing the phrase "wear a condom" since they hit puberty. I STILL remind them.

Haha where plenty of cows and sheep get to see it.

You mean there are states without vile political trash ads consuming a quarter of each broadcast hour.

lisleman said...

I believe every state gets a few but I believe most states don't have the volume that say Ohio or Florida do. We dropped cable TV and are watching less TV overall so the ads don't get noticed much by me. I really hate the robo-calls.

You have discovered my vast knowledge of New Zealand. I know it's far from Chicago. south of the equator, and surrounded by water too. Oh and they might have Kiwi birds that are used to make shoe polish.

Hehe funny. My friends Hanneke and Joop are in New Zealand. You can add that to your sea of knowledge :)

I will vouch about the all blacks. My boss is from new Zealand and he still talks about them. He hasn't lived there for 40 years.

I'm happy to say we don't get many political presidential ads. Nobody cares about our state because it votes the same way every time and I don't see that ever changing.

I've never had a cat, either, but that picture is pretty funny! Our dog is an excellent vacuum for all the food my 4 children drop from the table. In fact, when we go visit someone's house who doesn't have a dog, I'm always amazed at what messy eaters my kids are when I look at the floor! The dog saves me from that realization at home.

Never cook and eat the nest egg. Sit on it, or cruise on it, or live on it.

Given the average lifespan and average size of nest egg, 69 seems to be the age most investment people are pointing too.

Oh it's a great service. Let me know if you need some proofreading.
thanks

I don't have a clue as to how they determine their predictions. If it is based on polling then that does say much because we often change our minds. I won't say that things never change. I think it's much the opposite. thanks for answering my question and sharing.

lisleman said...

Yes, another reason kids love dogs. The problem with some dogs is they start begging at the table. It better if you let them in to clean after you eat. thanks

lisleman said...

cruise on it - I should suggest a nest egg cruise to cruise line. Now "live on it" sounds like you are eating it. It's all for the birds anyway.
thanks

I didn't expect a specific answer. I thought the answer was "it depends". Now that I think about it that might be the way that senior-related product was named.
thanks

I'm not in favor of battlegrounds period.

I knew you were a flower child inside. You probably have flowers inside that bag and smell good too. thanks for answering the q and sharing.

I don't like any of the political fighting and think most people have their minds made up way before now so see no point in it at all. I do live in a battleground state so i know how bad it gets. I just stop watching and don't answer the phone when it isn't someone I know on caller id!

lisleman said...

Many people have their minds set before the campaigns even start but I do think many decide closer to the election. I believe most are moderate. I agree about the fighting and mudslinging. Also, do they realize they turn people off to the whole process?
thanks for answering the q

You really need a couple cats--they are SO fun and great companions!

Thank you, thank you! HTML is not that scary. I do not live in a battle ground state either and am so tired of the election already. I cannot imagine living in Iowa or Colorado.

lisleman said...

see you just increased your blogging level. I agree about the ads. I don't like ads much anyway. I enjoy funny ads but political advertising doesn't do funny.

Thanks but no thanks - they like most everything can have personalities. My brother has one that acts more like a dog.
