Funny?
Terry Border posted a very funny and interesting one today. The title of it is "His Dream Job". I started to place the picture into my post but then stopped. Two reasons for stopping:
- Someday I know, I'll be scrolling through my blog looking for a post with my grandkids and I don't want to scroll past that picture with them.
- I suspect a few readers come here from work and while it's an artsy picture it still could be classified a nude so I don't want to surprise anyone.
But wait, there's more!
Terry Border has gotten into running his own contests and the above mention post has a contest associated with it. Have you ever heard of a "Tom Swifty"?
I had not. His contest asked for "Tom Swifty" entries related to the photo. A "Tom Swifty" is a pun written in particular style that was used in the Tom Swift series of books. Here's a few examples I copied from wikipedia:
"I unclogged the drain with a vacuum cleaner," said Tom succinctly."I might as well be dead," Tom croaked."Hurry up and get to the back of the ship," Tom said sternly.
Bent Objects are photos of 3 dimensional puns. Here's another post that includes a short promotional clip about his book.

"better call the water works" tom said tearfully.
good one - have you heard of this pun style before? thanks
Oh this would be a treasured read for someone who love to play with words!!!
Thanks for the heads~up man...I'm gonna check out this book!
God bless ya and have a magnificent week! :o)
thanks - I don't have any of his books but I have followed him on the web for a years now. (sounds like stalking but it's not) Let me know if you like the book. I believe it is pictures of his variety of works.
Very funny and creative! I love 'Dream Job'. lol But I don't blame you for not posting it here.
thanks for clicking over there and taking a look. The photo gave me a good laugh.
HA - I love those puns. You should make up your own but feature your little
crazy machines instead of that guy's stick figure sculptures!! W.C.C.
thanks - I don't know if my crazy machines fit any particular story or idea.
Good picture, very funny. And interesting blog. I don't find it shocking, but I know you can't assume anything on the internet, and I am sure you were right to caution readers who might come from cultures where this is unacceptable. I'll read more of the blog. I don't think I could do the captions AT ALL, my mind just doesn't work like that!
thanks for sharing a comment. Yes the different cultures and just attitudes makes it difficult to determine what is funny or acceptable.
