same state different mind

These two photos were taken on a recent trip.  The places are both in the same state.  Miles away from each other on the same river.

An old river town

A pod seat

What's a pod seat?

thanks sadly I think this river town has seen better days.

I could have written a seat in a pod.  Besides the seed type of pod, there is  a detachable or self-contained unit on an aircraft, spacecraft, vehicle, or vessel, having a particular function type of pod.  This "pod" was used to transport people, hence the seats.  Of course, it has nothing to do with I-pods.
thanks for asking

Yeah, I have no idea where they are. I don't get out much. I like the pod chairs.

Thanks -  Living in beautiful SF you don't need to step out very far to see amazing sights.

For those that are wondering about the place locations, here's the answers:
The river town is Hannibal MO which is on the Mississippi river which also goes by the city of St. Louis.  You ride in the pod looking thing to get to the top of the arch.
