fragment folly

Mrs. 4444, the Friday fragment distributor has fragments for your reading enjoyment. You don’t need a coupon or a groupon - just get on her link list over on her blog.

Mommy's Idea

Was that a fad flying by? - I remember the excitement of getting my first blog award years ago.  Now, I would probably decline award offers but I don’t think I’ll be seeing any because blog awards are not fashionable now. I think it was just a passing fad. Are blog awards still going around?

YakTrax ??
A former co-worker recently moved to Wisconsin. I was entertain by his Wisconsin accented comments on FB.
Yer prolly get wet up dere too eh?
wear yer YakTrax today

{>?<}

This joke will show your age. When is the last time you ordered or heard someone ordering a hi-ball?
A giraffe walked into bar says " whats up ?".. A regular looks up says, " I don't know but the hi balls are on you"..

Lisleman’s random news

Police car chase includes Mickey D’s drive thru.

In Coral Springs FL. a 64 yr. old women sped into a McDonalds drive thru when police tried to pull her over. Police ordered her out of her car but she ignored the officer and completed her lunch order and left. After a chase the ended up involving multiple police cars the woman was arrested and charged with eluding arrest along with other charges. Eating fast food while driving was not listed but such be added IMHO. The story posted stated it was unclear if she finished her fast food lunch.

That Florida lady could use help of these researchers -
Researchers at Columbia University engineered mice to make better decisions. Maybe they should give one to that lady.

Not going to the royal wedding? Here have a donut.

Dunkin Donuts royal wedding donut (above) looks sweet but not so royal to me.
“Not much you can do with a donut.” I was reminded by my wife.
Still tuned for next week’s live coverage of the royal laundry day of Prince William and Kate. Having been father-of-the-bride myself, my thoughts are focused on Michael Middleton.

A blog without comments is like dancing with myself. Since I can’t dance please leave a comment. Thanks you saved me some embarrassment.

Yeah, I've noticed the waning of the Blog Awards. I haven't seen them since I've had this blog up and running again.

LOL... love the little jokes. I'm pretty new to blogging communities, pretty much restarted this month with the blogging, so the awards are new to me & they are still out there & going around. I received a few & have yet to pass them on... that's the hard part:-) Stop in & read Fraggin Friday Part Deux

I'm glad those blog awards have fizzled out--they were so time-consuming! I do remember being thrilled to get my first few though (before I realized they weren't REALLY awards. Funny story about the lady stopping at McDonald's.

Stopping by from FF. Have a nice weekend!

Dancing with yourself, huh? Your fragments reminded me that-----here I sit NOT watching the royal wedding. I don't bother with weddings any more, funerals are more permanent. More frequent, too, in my age group. Cheered you right up, I'll bet!

lisleman said...

"funerals are more permanent" - I can't disagree with that but in an effort to positively spin this, how about this - Without life there would be no death. Life continues to cycle and death is just part of the cycle. In the big scheme of things death is not so powerful but if it was we would have stopped the invasion of ants in our home.

thanks - yes the crazy rules that came along with the award were not very rewarding.

Welcome to A Few Clowns Short - someday I hope I can write "many clowns".
I have a blog (blog experiment ?) called I Can't Blog http://blogicant.blogspot.com/
Over there you will find a few threads in the comment section about blogging.
thanks

I do think it was a trend/fad but I hope blogging is here to stay. thanks

I would have thought a royal donut would have purple icing.

lisleman said...

I do like it when a comment matches my thinking. Yes maybe purple icing or even better (IMHO) a union jack design. It probably came down to cost. thanks

You are right about those blog awards, I think. It was probably time. Past time.

I'll tell you what, dancing with myself is still more fun than no comments.

thanks for your comment contribution.

agreed - thanks

Don't have any Dunkin Donuts around here but maybe you ought to offer the ROYAL DONUT blog award. I'm not sure what qualifies but maybe it should have something to do with wearing a ridiculous hat? As for the woman being chased through a drive through I completely understand. Who wants the inconvenience of eating a cold hamburger and a hot shake after the long booking procedure and grilling under the interrogation lights? W.C.C.

lisleman said...

Ok - here's an idea - you win the Royal Donut award but you need to go to your local drive thru (any one will work) and announce your award, then ask them what they will give you for being the award winner. After it's over - share the experience in a post. thanks - we will be waiting.

I remember my first award and it touched me to tears, it was by Maureen of Island Roar, oh how much I've missed her. I believed she found me through you. Bestowing award must continue especially to new bloggers. I think it is an encouragement and a way of building relationships.

The royal wedding donut made me hungry so I will make breakfast now.
I didn't want you to dance by yourself, but then I noticed a whole stack of comments already here so I know you weren't left to your own devices today.

lisleman said...

You can eat too many donuts but you can't get too many comments. Thanks

lisleman said...

You could start your own awards. The initial idea was probably what you said but they soon became a game like thing that asked to spread the award and/or follow other bloggers. They became similar to chain letters or chain/forward emails. I think comments (nice ones - but close to 100% are nice) are awards that offer encouragement. Oh, I don't mean to say I dislike all blog games. This one FF is a great one. So thank you for your encouragement.

What accent?

I stopped getting awards when I instituted a new rule for accepting awards. Works like a charm. http://mrs4444awards.blogspot.com/2009/03/good-shts.html (My favorite is from Zoe's dad)

Now my mouth is watering for a donut...

Thanks for stopping by my blog and deciding to stay for a while! I've never received an award and my blog is so new...maybe you could bestow an honorary one on me just so I don't feel left out...

People never notice their own accents. So do you know what a YakTrax is? Do you have them? I followed your link and that is a tough award policy but a fun one. thanks

lisleman said...

Ok you are now the winner of the Happy 101 award - just browse over to this post and follow the rules. ( I think people got tired of the rules)
