party idea

I learn so much from my blog reading.

-  A recent discovery -
Sun Chips new bag

Recently over at Bearman's Cartoons, Bearman opened my eyes and ears to the new Sun Chips bag. Of course he even drew a cartoon about it. Go over there and humor the funny artist.

This lead to some youtube research. (oh didn't you know I'm a youtube researcher - still waiting on my paycheck from Google)

Then I had to go out and purchase a bag for my own personal research. (any bets on the IRS letting me deduct that off this years taxes?)

Now with that extensive study completed I'm ready to share with you my brilliant party idea. I'm taking a shot in the dark here and I don't have the trademark process started yet but for you special blog followers, I'll let the chips fall where they may.

Sun Chips Crunch Party

  1. Buy some bags of Sun Chips (I tried Peppercorn Ranch - great flavor)
  2. Get someone to record or if you are a pro, you could set-up a camera on a tripod.
  3. Pass out the bags unopened.
  4. Pass out some bowls.
  5. Tell everyone that on your count to open the bags and fill the bowls
  6. After the bags are empty have everyone do a big crunch
  7. Send recording to Frito Lay and ask them for ear plugs

After the hearing returns to your guests ears, they won't stop talking about your party. Maybe not in a good way but hey PR is PR. Just take it anyway you can.

If you have not tried these Sun Chips in the new bag, I know you are curious about what-the-hell I'm talking about so I uploaded a short clip (with sound) of my research.

Hey anyone have some leads into Frito Lay? I want to pitch this to them. Maybe I could get free chips for a party.

Hah, that video is hilarious. You definitely have a film career ahead of you.

And these are environmentally friendly? I am boycotting them. I boycott anything that is earth saving, since I am trying to destroy it.

Don't you think we should get free bags or at least coupons for this promotion?
Yes I did say we because you are part of the ICB team and maybe the team could all be rewarded for a team promotion.
I forgot to mention how i love the way the popping sound slowly dies off. Reminds me of fireworks fading in the summer night.

Frito Lay customer service is very accomodating and I am sure has a sense of humor.

I freaked out when my local store stopped carrying the Doritos Light only to find out that FL stopped making it. They sent me a couple coupons (which I didn't ask for).

Maybe you can bring this up like Tupperware parties where you can get the Sun Chips at cost and then sell them to all your friends.

I have never had peppercorn ranch sun chips but they 'SOUND' good. I have other kinds of sun chips but I have never met a big time movie producer like you. Did you try those awful Wasabi Doritos - those make a great crunching and popping sound in the trash COMPACTOR!!

You called FL customer service when they stop making some chip? You were really into those chips I guess.
You idea is interesting. I have a sister selling Mary Kay. I might run it by her.

I liked the taste. I have had some wasabi stuff but that spice or whatever it is can be overpowering. I had wasabi dried peas I think. You really need to mix them with something else like cheetos. Ah maybe not.

This is the first whole post I have ever read dedicated entirely to Sun Chips. Now I am going to go ahead and give this a try.

Thanks. Somebody had to do it. Actually Bearman's post was focused on just the same thing.
Oh BTW the DISQUS people just made it easy to add the comment system to Blogger (your blog is on that right?) - go check out the ICB page.

I called FL as well when they quit making Ranch Fritos. They brought them back with no bloody cholestrol (which I didn't eat anyway). I mean, come ON. The one chip my moody 13 year old kid self loved...had cholesterol in it (and a parent on a low chol diet...so they were MINE!) and they got rid of them!

I was...upset. No coupons for me, though. I just boycott FL on principle. This bag just strengthens my resolve. (And if you are trying to count...it's been 22 years.)

If there is a cheese flavor I might be willing to try them just because of your very excellent sales job in this post.

When they introduced the new bag, they would send you a coupon for a free bag (any flavor) if you followed them on Face Book. I used my coupon to try the sour cream and onion flavor. They taste good, but that noisy bag honestly drives me crazy.

Hey guy, I fear ya are a few chips short of a bag. Heeehehehe! Sorry, self-control is not one of my many virtues. :o)

Funny post! If ya close your eyes it sounds just like the audience right after the close of The Platters performance in Branson. No, really....try it! Just sayin......

Ya'll have a fabulous weekend hostin' you Sun Chip parties.

God bless

Oh that's good. How did I not think of that one? Maybe the bag noise effected my brain. Branson - now that's a place like no other. Have you posted about Branson?

lisleman said...

It does keep you from sneaking a few at night.

A curious Loon wants to know if you can get vuvuzela flavored ones?

unknownmami said...

I've been known to make some noise with those bags.

Nezzy said...

Nope, I've talked about Branson but never have written a post. Farm Boy and I are goin' next weekend for a long awaited getaway. We were suppose to go in Jan. for an anniversary trip but for heaven's sake we live on the Ponderosa where things happen.....all the time!!!

Enjoy the weekend....God bless :o)

Nah...You need a sister selling Tupperware. Buy the bag and crumble it a bunch and put it in a tupperware container

I had no idea! I don't buy chips as a rule and I avoid that tempting isle in the grocery store, but every so often I do grab a snack bag of sun chips. Had I known that there was an annoyance factor I would have bought a bag ages ago to annoy my husband!

lisleman said...

That is one of the many uses. Another one I had heard of was using the noise to fake a bad cellphone connection.

I should quit focusing on that bag covering your head. I just thought if you were to a Sun Chips bag on your head you would damage your ear drums.

You know, there compost-ability only has value for the few people who compost . Even I only want so many of the bags in my compost bin.

Just to let you know, I had to change URL's. My avatar links to the new site.

Woah. Sounds like a popcorn factory burning down.

Can't help you with the contacts at Frito Lay but I can tell you that the chips are pretty tasty and the bag, while biodegradeable, makes a weirdly crisp sound when touched...

I can't wear one of those bags on my head, they do not go with my wardrobe.
