giving it away free at 30000 ft




Oh what a nasty business! Nasty to managers trying to make a profit. 146 planes just doesn't do it. Maybe you heard, but Connexion is now offering their in-flight internet service FREE until they shut it down (end of 06).

The connexion site has some Q&A's. One interesting answer "...currently no plans to transition the service to another provider..."

It makes me wonder about internet service onboard aircraft. Boeing's approach was an expensive one but anyway you do it it involves FAA certified stuff that's costly. How many Wi-Fi coffee shops could you hookup for the price of an airliner?
