fall fragments might freeze

But don’t cover your fragments up. I’m a little early on this Friday fragment post since I will doing guard guardian duty for a few grandkids the next few days. Be sure to check the fragments offered at the fragment hostess,  Mrs. 4444’s place.

Mommy's Idea

Pumpkin spice smell reminds of pumpkin pie that my mom would make from scratch with the pumpkin guts left after carving. Scents are well known for producing memories which reminds me I should shower.

Our youngest daughter really got into carving one year. She did multiple pumpkins and bought a set of tools. I suspect she will be too busy this year since she started grad school. Here’s one pic below and a link to an older post.

Thinking of Halloween, (happens when I wake up and scare myself in the mirror) do you think the cycle of scary movies has run their course? In my opinion it peaked with “Halloween” in 1978. You just can’t kill that Michael Myers dude. When I first saw the movie I didn’t even think zombie. The bogeyman had been in my imagination long before this movie. That movie really heightened the scare level of a bogeyman (is there a bogeywoman? I mean we all have had a bad date or two right?)

I can remember TV without remotes. You actually had to walk up to the TV set and twist a knob. Our flat screen has hidden (black on black - what ergonomic designer had that brain crash of an idea?) buttons on the side. Do any of you go up to the TV to change a channel if you can’t find the remote?

Breaking Disney news (breaking as in breaking open some brew) - Disney offers beer. “tomorrowland” might need to be renamed “day-after-land”. Wow that wild ride threw me to the ground.

One last puzzling question that’s not on anyone’s mind before you browse away. Will the day come that you’ll hear rap music during music-on-hold periods?

visually speaking, i love pumpkins. the taste? not so much.

Interesting - I like the color and the taste. Their size and thick skin offers a good carving platform but I guess watermelons would be about the same for carving but you don't see to many carved watermelons.

I love that scary pumpkin. Be happy during guard -ian duty. Consider a move to a country like Honduras where large semi-automatic weapons are standard fare for guards.

thanks - I don't need any weapons but I should pack some Tylenol.

Good heavens I hope not, I can't stand rap. And I can't do scary movies either. My mind is way too active and then of course I can't sleep for days thinking that who knows what's going to jump at me from every nook and cranny in the house.

I am just not that talented with carving pumpkins. I like to scoop the goop out and then toast the seeds, that's my favorite part!

Not sure about rap itself but I've heard musak versions of rap songs... that is freaky!

I too remember those pre-remote (or as I call it "clicker") days.

Now, I don't even know if it's POSSIBLE to change the channel right on my flat screen TV.

I ALSO remember that you had to wait like half an hour for the picture to come on the black screen. Remember that? It started with a white dot of light in the center and eventually grew into a picture.

You had to "warm" the tv up before watching it.

Freddy Kruger scared me the most. Infact I didn't watch scary movies for years! Recently I watched the same movie and laughed at how bad it seems now compared to the scary movies from the generation.
Love the pumpkin carving! We used to have a family pumpkin decorating contest. Not sure why we don't do it anymore. Your daughter inspired me to start that tradition again.

Halloween movies and Friday the 13th movies scarred me so much...but so did Steven King movies...Children of the Corn...I live rurally and every time I drive by a corn field I think of that movie!! Yikes! Love the pumpkin! My hubby and daughter have mad craving skills too!

I don't change the channels, since I don't have get television, but I do go up and adjust the volume manually on the tv when I'm watching a movie.

I heard the theme song for the X-Files in the grocery store the other day. I thought that was an odd choice.

lisleman said...

so you would rather get up and adjust the volume than use the remote? Our DVDs typically play at a lower volume than the TV channels so adjustments are often.

found the shower picture on the web years ago.

Those movies are not for everyone. thanks

lisleman said...

good to know I shared a laugh thanks

lisleman said...

that is strange why bother to make those versions?

lisleman said...

The effect of the movie depends on your situation at the time. Thanks any inspiration is good hear about.

those movies are not for everyone. I don't care for rap much but I've heard a few OK ones. I can't remember any names though. pumpkins seeds are good.

I can't make the volume buttons on the DVD player (which I use for both DVDs and Netflix) remote work on the TV, and I only want one remote lying around. I only adjust the volume if there is something going on in the background like the ashing machine running. I may have to adjust the volume on the set once a week, so it's not a big deal.

Yes you do, ha ha. I use Random.org to select the winner and you won. Made me laugh because you thought you never would. Anyway I am just glad it went to you who reads my blog a lot rather than someon who just comes in to do the giveaways. Kay from Musings won the Dirty Dancing one so was happy about that too. The company that is giving it away are legitimate and I am sure will only use your address details carefully. i will give you their details too so you know who will be sending you the CD.
