Lisleman:First off, my hips never had the motions expressed by Shakira. Secondly, how embarrassing having to tell the doctor that I was shaking my hips like a moneymaker when I collapsed in pain. (would be an interesting post though)
My question - Could I learn Spanish by watching Shakira on youtube?
Unknown Mami:
No but you could learn to shake your hips like a moneymaker.
I picked up a few words already.
Como se llama - does not mean anything about the llamas of Peru.
Baila en la calle de noche - except I can’t dance worth a damn.
Is this idea loca?
Would it require tequila?

Perhaps Shakira should start teaching Spanish on the side.
My 13 year old granddaughter has Spanish on her agenda this year. Both of us can confirm Como se llama is not about llamas. Esta bien.
Como se llama...is that "What is your name?" I learned mucho poco espaniol en escuela. En universitidad yo escuchar mi maestro. Ella hablar mucho espanol. I didn't understand a word she said.
It would be tough to have her as a teacher. Too much of a distraction but it would be fun. thanks
Thanks for confirm that - thinking the wooly animals really changes the conversation.
Yes but if she speaks mostly Spanish you must be having a hard time in school. The google translator works ok.
I think you're the only one who pretends to watch her to learn something. :)
Shakira: el infierno en las ruedas y los talones!
It's tough but you do what you gotta do to learn.
thanks
Well I don't know if you used the translator but I needed it. Hell on heels - good one. thanks
I love this song by the way. I just love that she does both spanish and english versions. So as we watched this video, my husband and I talked about how no one can resist Shakira, men, women, gay or straight, you can't help but stare. At the end of the video when she and the group were in the water, my husband said "And then the piranhas came...And stared at her."
Some guys act like piranhas. I didn't know that her appeal was that far reaching. thanks
I drank tequila last weekend and believe me it does want to make you shake your hips lol. Shame I don't look and sound like Shakira though. Or speak Spanish for that matter although my daughter was trying to teach me some. She went to Columbia this year and had learnt Spanish before she left. she loves the language and I love Margaritas - does that count?
Margaritas are great but I like just on the rocks not frozen. Also, a good rum drink I found in Puerto Rico was the mojito.
Hey thanks for catching up on so many posts over here.
