I learned a another new word today, breweriana. I'm going to try my luck on e-bay again. I found this old classic beer can opener in my drawer and thought I might get a few bucks for it. If you are interested here's the e-bay auction link.
As I was working through the auction set-up process I was offered the breweriana category. This type of beer related merchandise fits the category well.
I remember Schlitz back when I was underage with undeveloped beer taste. I'm not real sure where I picked up the little push button beer can opener. Maybe my dad had it but I'm not sure. It could of came from a friend. You push a small button on top and a can opener "blade" pops out of the bottom. It can be yours for a price.
I don't think e-bay auction are as popular as they once were. I even agreed to try selling an odd shaped rock once for my nephew. It didn't sell.
I have sold a few things but not for awhile. Hey even if you are not interested please pass it along to any beer drinker you know.

Maybe Blondie's hit would be getting the attention one-hit-wonder Tommy Tutone's 867-5309 hit is getting if she put a real phone number in the song. Note to songwriters, put catchy phone numbers in the songs about calling.
Back in 2007 the song was in the news because two plumbers were in court fighting over it.
NOW (Feb. 2009) - some DJ guy around New York is going to make a bundle auctioning the number and his business on ebay. BTW - it's the number not the business that is worth so much. Take a look at the video below.

Some quick thinking person wrote the number on a piece of paper and put that up for auction on ebay. I found that while I was looking for actual phone number auction. So for a piece of paper with 8675309 written on it with a sharpie pen - he's looking to get OVER $100 !!
One more interesting note - over on Tommy's website his bio mentions that his day time job is software engineer.

This strange combination has something in common - both are up for auction soon. The above pictures were taken from Alexander Autographs , an auction house in Stamford CT.
I found the story of the toolbox interesting. It belong to Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak. Here's how this other Apple employee obtained the toolbox.
After seeing Steve Wozniak's box laying around for some time, I asked him about it, and he said he had no interest in it. I asked him if I could have it, and he said 'yes'...".
So if you think a co-worker will be famous someday ask him/her for some old stuff of theirs. This toolbox might go for $5000.
Tomorrow, Jan. 24, 2008 - the FCC starts to auction off a big piece of spectrum. The auction is expected to bring in BILLIONS. The move to digital TV is allowing this spectrum to be reassigned. The big players like Verizon are signed-up to play.
This time Google is a big player. They were able to convince the FCC to leave one piece set-up for "open" devices. The open type of set-up will allow more new wireless applications to be created. Don't expect any new services soon, this auction will be going on for months and the spectrum is not available until next year.
Open wireless is similar to the current Wi-Fi set-up. With the many different devices comes the problem of interference. While I was writing this over a home Wi-Fi, I was reminded of interference. The connection dropped because I believe our cordless phone rang. I have had the Wi-Fi go down often when the cordless phone is in use.
