wishin and

Holiday wishes?
Is it the 'everyone-is-getting-one' toy stuck in your head from that last commercial?
Many decades ago (before the invention of the video game) I wanted a minibike so bad.  Even a go-kart would do.  Didn't happen.  Maybe it was a good thing after all because who knows I might have escalated to motorcycles, joined the Hell Angels and ? - whatever.

Holiday wishes?
We all have some but those wishes do change as we grow old.  More practical, thoughtful and less likely to poke your eye out is what our wishes become.  Our adult wishes are important but probably not as much fun as our kid wishes.

As adults I wonder if we are wishin or bitchin.

That wish for a big vacation, big flatscreen, is it really just a bitch about cabin fever or keeping up with neighbors?

This year I wish for more smiles on the faces I see and more smiles in the voices I hear.  (oh maybe more comments)

But there's always something to wish for and/or bitch for.  Just try to keep the wishin and bitchin apart.

Great picture of me...too bad Santa is so serious, he doesn't look too jolly!

I remember the days where smiling was contagious. I miss those days.
My wishes are for the bills to be paid. My kids are experiencing a "what's really important?" lesson this year since I quit my job in October and my Hubby's been self-employed for a year and a half now.
Great post!

@allison - who knows he might be smiling under that beard. Also it could have been a long day for the poor elf.
@green-eyed momster - It's still contagious most of the time. A good lesson will be worth more than anything you could buy. All the best to you and your family.

The Hell's Angels hey?

I dunno, the older I get the more I realize that the wheel has turned, which is why this is what I want for Christmas:

... so why can't you get that minibike after all? ... it's never too late to join the HA ...

H'mm. I just sent you a post where I say that the Santas are looking a little funky here in NYC this year. Maybe I only remember them all looking like Jolly Old Elves in the past.
Anyway, your blog always makes me smile. Happy Hollidays.

@onestonedcrow - those HA guys had to start somewhere. Also, the 'Easy Rider' was a big hit during my teens. Thanks for that link - very funny and educational - I didn't know there was Star Wars Christmas album. The minibike - there are plenty of other fun things I can think of spending my money today.
@Pat F. - thanks I'll be checking it out. I've only spent a few hours walking around in NYC and while interesting I don't have a big desire to return.

I'm wishin' for less bitchin'. I smile easily, but I cry easily too.

@unknown mami - that is a good combination wish.
