Solar and robots

This looks fun and worth a try. When I get around to making one, I'll post some pictures. Has anyone reading this, tried something like this?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think most robots except for the industrial type (like car or circuit board assembly) are mostly toys or experiments. Of course, one experiment/exploration that has gone very well with a robot has been the exploring of Mars.
