she's leaving town

She will be gone next week.

They are not saying where she is going.

I took a few pictures of her last summer.  Great body, nice legs, pretty face.  At 26 feet, she towered over the place.  Here's a video clip I made of my pictures:

The front page of the Chicago Tribune had her picture and story about her time in the city.

An excerpt for that article:

"No matter what opinions people had about Mega-Marilyn as a work of art, it was rare to have a sculpture that could attract a crowd at any hour of the day or night," he said. "Even passing by late at night, I never saw her standing alone. And when someone tagged her leg with graffiti, there were actual expressions (of) outrage and indignation. There were definitely unusual forces at work in the way she was received by the public."
I would guess she is going another big city. She always struck me as a city girl. Would you want her coming to your city or one near you? (she very quiet)

Thanks.  I had no idea this piece of art existed.  I could see her on Public Square in Cleveland.  Give Occupy Cleveland a run for their money.

That is so AWESOME!  I love her.  Always loved Miss Monroe anyway.  How could you not?  I kept the the front page story in the LA TIMES about her death for years.  It finally disintegrated.  I can still see the photo they used in my mind. It was a half close up.  She wore a blouse with large roses, I think she had a fur pill box hat, she had her trademark eye makeup,  her lips fully rouged and she was luminous.  I think I was 10.

I think Cleveland could handle her.

Sounds like you were a big fan.  She does have an interesting and sad story.

Oh my!  I just saw her last Sunday!  She didn't say anything to me about leaving!  She is gorgeous and you have captured some great emotions with your pictures! Thanks for sharing!

She never uttered a word and I touched her leg.

Nope, not particularly.  She always struck me as a tragic figure but not a terribly admirable one.

 thanks for the honest opinion.

PS. I just loved the sign you posted on my blog. And no, I would not use it as it may encourage my neighbour. But guess what? I now can't start my mower, do you think its karma for talking about him? Ha ha.

I remember when that went up and was in Chicago last summer to see it.  Wonder where they will put it now?

I would like her to come here to my little town, but you are probably right, she will be in a big city, able to be available to more people and more fans.

There's much to see in Chicago.  The last mayor (new one has been in office less than a year) started a campaign to cleanup the city and many streets do look very nice now.  Click on my "Chicago" tag other posts.  I'm not in the city everyday but a few of our kids live in the city so that and the entertainment draws us there often.

Good that you saw it.  Who knows, would you like it to come to a city near you?

You would be the talk of the town and whole county if you put her up in your yard.
thanks

Marilyn Monroe has always fascinated me. She is a gorgeous woman with class and style.  James Dean holds a special place in my heart too.  As a teenager I collected all sorts of things about him.  Both Marilyn and James lives ended way too soon.

Elton John had it right - a candle in the wind.

I would love to host Marilyn here in Wisconsin. Not sure she'd get as much attention here (in Green Bay), but I'm sure she'd be appreciated.

I started to write a dumb GB Packers comment but on second thought your idea of hosting a statue deserves better.  thanks
