Blog Tag Games

Let the blog games continue.

TechnoBabe's Adventures has tagged me in a blog tag game.  Like anything I'm sure there are different opinions of these blog games.  They are a little silly but I believe people do need to lighten up more and it's a good way to learn about other blogs.

The game is simple.  Tell the readers 7 items about yourself and tag some other bloggers.  Here's my entry in the game.

  1. While in Catholic grade school, the thought of becoming a priest lingered in my mind for a short time.  After noticing some cute girls on the playground the thought faded away.
  2. My mother was an immigrant from Slovenia.  She arrived as a child.  My wife and I were fortunate a few years ago to visit her village and see her birth house.
  3. I believe random chance plays a bigger role in our lives than people want to believe.  I just finished a good book on this subject, "The Drunkard's Walk" by Leonard Mlodinow.
  4. Discussing politics can be engaging face-to-face but not in-your-face.  After September 11, I became a news junkie and paid more attention to politics but that was not the first big terrorist attack in the US that I noticed.  The Oklahoma City bombing event is just as disturbing.  I've been to the site a few times.
  5. I listen to the lyrics of songs.  I thought everyone did but found out that many don't.
  6. I rediscovered during the last 10 years the Electric Blues which has a strong home presence in Chicago.  Like many kids of the sixties I failed to realize that the British rock stars of the time where influenced by Chicago Blues artists.
  7. I enjoy reading Chicago Tribune columnist Mary Schmich who wrote:
"...Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth."

To continue the game, I need to tag some other bloggers.  I enjoy many blogs, so picking ones to tag is difficult.  Please take a look at my blogroll for favorite blogs.

Since I want to learn more about other cultures, I going to tag 4 bloggers from outside the US.

Thinking about tags, I hope you know that the post tags are very useful in finding related posts on a blog.  So click on the memory tag and browse through my posts related to memories.

thanks and thanks for putting my blog on your tag list. No big deal and I know sometimes people don't keep their blogroll up-to-date, but I noticed my blog and one other in your tag list are not in your blogroll. It would be great to on your blogroll. thanks again

I think I'm blessed to be tagged! I will have to find 7 nonlibellous and yet interesting things to say about myself; may take a few hours/days etc...

Neat list, lisleman. I liked the trip to Slovenia the best--it allowed you to visit part of your roots.

"Discussing politics can be engaging face-to-face but not in-your-face."- I like that very much.

Even though I come here often, it is still very nice to learn more about you.

I've never quite understood why people often don't listen to song lyrics.

I don't know if anyone ever truly understands another person completely even if you live with them. Yes in-your-face type of discussions never work.
thanks for dropping a comment.

Howzit lisleman ... great catching up on your posts again and thanks for continuing to visit my blog - I love your treatment of the "snakes in transit" pic, thanks for using it ...

mmm ... offhand I can't think of seven interesting things to say about myself but I'll give it some thought ...

I can say something about your sister being left behind at a gas station though - my daughter and I were on the road and I needed to 'go' badly so at the next town we pulled into the gas station, I jumped out of the car, charged into the toilet cubicle, locked the door and sat down on the throne ... a minute later I heard womens' voices outside the door and realized my mistake - I was in the Ladies Toilet ... I sat quiet as a mouse until I thought the coast was clear then rushed out again - to find my daughter sitting in the car laughing her head off ... probably one of my most embarrassing moments ...

ps like the new look of your blog ... and I'm glad you discovered girls before the priesthood ...

thanks - that's a great story

That book is intriguing. I blogged about an experience this week that seemed far from coincidence.

lisleman said...

did you read it?
I think I know what event you are referring to, having read some of your posts. Your accident and avoiding an accident post I imagine has you wondering. Who knows but chance things do happen and sometimes we are in the wrong place at the wrong time or get lucky with the opposite combination.
I was thinking of blogging more about the book but figured there wouldn't be much interest.

No, I haven't read it. What I meant was that your description of it intrigues me. It just sounds interesting to me. Blog away! :)
