useful and entertaining public art

This is one of those examples of catching the moment. Our host took us over to this park to see this statue and as we approached, this young lady was refreshing herself. It was morning so maybe she just woke up. There was a language barrier but I recall she apologized for being in the way of our picture. She didn't realize she made the picture.

Hey blog readers - please name the city this picture was taken in. No prize really (bragging rights?) but I'll post the winner with a link to their blog (if you have one of course). I guess my family might win but unfortunately they don't read this blog much, so I doubt it.

The picture was taken in 2004.

I got a good response to these other travel pictures so I'm posting this one.

I consider traveling as a means of sharing so here's a sharing idea -

if you have a favorite travel photo please leave a link to it in the comments and I'll post those links too (of course I reserve the right to not link it if I deem it inappropriate material - did you know there's photos on the web that some find inappropriate?)

Share a smile

I am amazed she drank from that fountain!I wouldn't unless dying of thirst! Though it is still just water.....

@glennis you're right about it being just water. I think she was mostly washing her face but maybe drank some too. no guess about location?
thanks for sharing a comment

It looks a bit like my daughter.

I can't help with the location. I'm not sure where she was in 2004.

Bill Lisleman said...

@winton I recall that she didn't speak much English but it's not as if we spent much time with her.

Your comment left me wondering if you are looking for your daughter. Hopefully I'm reading too much into your short comment because most of us can't recall our own trips sometimes.
thanks

This post might generate some comments which would be great.

I would it enjoy this exchange even more if some guesses were made.

Thanks for your concern. You are reading too much into my comment. I know where my daughter is now. It does look a bit like her and I just thought that this could be the kind of thing she might do when backpacking.

My guess is that the location is somewhere in Italy.

Bill Lisleman said...

@winton - thanks that's good to know.
Italy - no but we went to Italy later during that trip - now lets see if anyone reads that hint in the comments.
thanks

I have a guess! (Your clue helped.)
Is it Zagreb, Croatia?

Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

Bill Lisleman said...

@kit - You win! I was starting to think how long I should go before giving another clue.

So did you do some internet research, know of the place, been to Zagreb??

thanks

I did some quick internet research. It was trickier to find than I expected! I have not been to Croatia, though my mom has. I don't think she saw this statue, though. Thanks, that was fun!

That is funny - had to be in Europe somewhere. Great pic Lisleman!

Bill Lisleman said...

@Lilly - Europe somewhere? Is that based on my earlier hint? I have not been downunder in the land of OZ but I suspect you could have a park like that there too.

Thinking about how uptight some Americans are I do wonder if a public statue like this here in the states would cause an outrage.

Hey, sorry, lisleman! Forgot to take pics, and now I'm back.
(Guess I was trying to erase it all from my mind.)
Next time!
