short question (but important)

Hey xfoners, did you receive a COBRA form/letter today????

I did. I think it is a mistake. I heard twice and read that the coverage continues for the serverance period. Since the minimum was 8 weeks nobody should be going on COBRA yet.

Of course, I get this just as I am leaving on a short trip (doesn't the billing error always come on Friday) so I am not going be able to check on it until Monday. Maybe if it is a general mistake and you got the same thing you could let us all know. thanks

I received the same letter today and I'm also confused. I thought we had the same number of weeks of paid insurance coverage as weeks of severance. I talked to Rob today about a few other items and told him about the letter. he is also confused. I'm going to call Laura tomorrow to ask what is up. I will post any information that I receive.

Sorry, the last comment was not anonymous, but from me.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I too found it a bit confusing. Since my medical coverage started on the first day of my new job, I basically didn't get into it all that much.

I talked with Laure today(9/7/2006) about the letter. It looks like this letter covers the Flexible Reimbursement Plan (FRP) account you might of had. It talks about the "Health Care Account" and mine talks about the coverage level I had in FRP. If you had a "Depend Care Account" it should be listed also. You can continue your coverage thru COBRA if you would like. Follow the instructions in the letter. If you didn't have a FRP account then you will not get the letter. Medical coverage should continue as outlined in the separation package. If you have any questions you should contact the benefits center.

I have been through it all. Disregard the Cobra letter. It is required by law to be offered to any employee that is let go by a company reguardlees if it is paid for during the severence period. You have coverage thoughout your severence period.

I also have direct deposit and didn't get it, either. I assume it will be part of the severance sum, which I expect to suddenly appear in my account in a week or so.

N.P.

My experience was that VZ payroll will pay your severence towards the end of the month you left Verizon.
