traditions new ones everyday

A tradition needs a beginning right? I'm not sure how long a tradition needs to be practiced before you are allowed to describe it as a tradition. The internet with it's socializing speed, brings us instant pinterest traditions and facebook arguments about them (at times I think it should be renamed arguebook). Many of you have joined in the recent tradition of Elf on the Shelf. I was introduced to him by our grandkids just a few years ago.  I'll go on record as pro Elf on the Shelf.

Just the other day on arguebook as I scrolled around trying to avoid confrontation I spotted this fun picture from one of my daughters:

Talk about, "Finding out who is naughty or nice!" That elf has story line for hooking up with Barbie that is sure to work. Now I know it being stereotypical, but I suspect the Barbie with the pink hair probably leans to the naughty side. This combination makes sense to me since Barbie is very traditional after all these years.

Did you know the Elf on the Shelf company was started by 3 women? Interest business success story - here's a link.

hahaha ... arguebook! I love it! One has to admit it can be the hot bed of contention. Hmmm, I have to say the way the Elf is hanging on to Barbie I have to wonder if she is not the one hiding a naughty streak. :D
Great success story!
Merry Christmas!

I tend to be pro- Elf on a Shelf as well. I think it's a cute little addition to the holiday but as I don't have young children at home, my opinion doesn't amount to much. Our grandsons think the Elf is pretty fun.

Yes, the Elf looks like he is a bit of a flirt with the Barbies but I guess he has to work fast..he gets sent packing back to the North Pole tomorrow.

I think it is a fun story but apparently (from a newspaper article) some parents try to push its ability to control their children too far.
thanks

When I was a kid we had a set of elves much like that who sat on the shelves. But the thing of them turning up everywhere in photos - almost inescapable these days.

What I read about the ladies who started this company was that it was a family tradition for them. Thanks for sharing. I wonder how wide spread the tradition was.

With all those Barbies I don't think the Elf will be left on the shelf for long

Love the photo. People sure get creative with their Elf naughtiness; it seems adults like him as much as kids respect him :) btw, Happy New Year!

thanks - I think most adults have fun playing along with the elf story. Good fun if it doesn't get too crazy.
