another time another fragment

When I started this blog (that story is covered on the “short background” page) I didn’t even know about memes or blog games. I certainly had no idea I would come to enjoy Friday Fragments as a favorite post to write and share.

Please check out other fragments over at Mrs. 4444’s blog.

If you upload many pictures on G+ you may have been surprised by google’s enhancements to some of them. I discovered they have seasonal themed enhancements too (snow, sparkling lights). Here’s a two enhancements G+ recently offered me.

google added sparkles

(assuming almost all readers of this blog are English speaking) Do you ever listen to Christmas music in another language? The Latin masses of my youth (I’m very glad they dropped the Latin and turned the priest around) come to mine when I listen to “Gloria in Excelsis Deo”. To think, at one time I thought it was about a girl named Gloria.

I also enjoy that Christmas song best done with an acoustic guitar. I translated it’s Spanish words of which I know very few, into the English words I hear.

fleece never a knot
fleece never a knot
fleece never a knot
poor sparrows annoy police a lot

I just noticed that last year about this time I got hooked on sharing pictures from my pinterest page using their embed function.  It worked great back when it worked. It’s frustrating to notice that those posts now are missing all the embedded pinterest pictures. I don’t know why pinterest changed that embed function but it sure ruined a few of my old posts.

I wonder what girls named Gloria thought when they first heard this:

Fleece never a knot? That's a good one. Fleece never a knot to you and yours.

Hahaha, I can see the Gloria song, absolutely. I don't know any other language enough to listen to Christmas carols in them. I wish I knew what Feliz Navidad actually said...I would love to know. I have no idea what Pinterest is up to. I was never very good at that. It would probably take a lot to redo those posts :-(

I am seriously considering joining Mrs.4444's meme after the first of the year. I like the idea of compiling "little thoughts" without having to write an entire post around a singular idea.

I loved the video. Beautiful!!!

thanks - it's fun and of course open to anyone. You could mention my blog to her if you join. Never hurts to earn points with a teacher.
Merry Christmas

Yes the pinterest change is just annoying but not a big deal. My only Spanish qualification is having visited a number of Spanish countries and watching Shakira. My guess is Feliz Navidad is festive celebration of the Nativity. I believe "feliz" is used with birthday greetings too. As for the rest of the song I would need to look it up on the internet.
thanks and Merry Christmas

That's one of my favorite Christmas songs. But seriously, you didn't know the words to Feliz Navidad? I, too, get so irritated when i visit an old post and see that the link or code has broken to something. Ugh.

Feliz Navidad literally means Happy Birthtime. The rest of the song speaks of hopes for a prosperous new year.

lisleman said...

Thank you - I thought one of the Spanish speaking reader might notice my reply. Isn't Feliz something else said for Happy Birthday?

lisleman said...

Ok I knew it was about wishing people a Merry/Happy Christmas but I didn't know the whole translation. Broken links on a blog - that should be made into a new country song.
Merry Christmas

I've always loved hearing the songs in Latin songs. We used to sing the English versions, though, of Nunc Dimitis and Magnificat at Evensong Epsicopal Church when I was in college.

I do think choir songs go well with the holidays. thanks

Okay, I am definitely going to upload some photos to Google+. Those enhancements are totally cool. Fun post, btw. Love the My Little Pony photo! Have a wonderful holiday and thanks for dropping by my blog earlier!

Our daughter sitting on Santa in that pic now has a little daughter who wonders about Santa. Those enhancements are cool but so far (hope it changes) the user doesn't get to control the enhancement.
thanks
Merry Christmas

Pretty cool enhancements! I had to laugh at the 'poor sparrow annoy police' phrase.

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas filled with love, laughter and priceless memories!

lisleman said...

Oh but the police are not laughing. Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and yours too.

That gif makes me dizzy! I really like the sparkly photos; Google made my Christmas tree look amazing! Posts with empty photo spots give me a stomach ache...

lisleman said...

To summarize - I think you are about to puke. Ha.
I didn't get dizzy but I see your point. Yeah broken links/photos/youtube clips are like the digital blog version of a dirty floor.
thanks
