follow the fragmented road on friday

I’m off to read the wizard, the wonderful wizard of FF.

Grab your little dog (stuff animal will do), kick your scarecrow and snap at your local lion, it’s time to read FF posts, kids!

The FF wizard doesn’t live in Kansas anymore (don’t know if she ever did) but she probably knows a few good witches. I do know she has a little dog (don’t know about her ruby slippers).  Also it’s green around her place until it turns brown then white. After fighting the flying monkeys here, click your heels and go see Mrs. 4444 the FF wizard.

My Oz theme today came about because of a bad dream. Well ok, I did have a weird dream. Awhile ago a favorite post of mine (do you have favorites?) was messed up when I had to switch the site where I stored the pictures (do you mend your broken links?). The pictures in that old post were from Oz park in Chicago. So I thought why not use those missing pictures (I recovered them) as fragment dividers today.  I just know you'll like my idea.

Oyster crackers - Do you ever wonder about that name? Probably not. I do. I enjoy eating them in my soap or chili. Does anyone eat oysters with oyster crackers?

Just another observation - do you think there is a connection between “The Walking Dead” zombie show having a record number of viewers while our government was suffering a shutdown?

I think low-key is the missing key to having a relaxing time. Low key can save you money too. Maybe the best key was the roller skate type and they don’t make those anymore.

I'm still too young to be singing the blues. Goodbye yellow brick road. Oh I've finally decided my future lies beyond the yellow brick road. However, you can keep any of the horny back toads I happen to find.

I like oyster crackers with soup, but not with oysters. I do like oysters too, just not with oyster crackers. Skate keys! I remember those! I loved my roller skates, and we used to wear the key around our neck hanging from a piece of regular old string. Probably a law against that now. I loved the pics...I've been to Chicago, but never to Oz Park. Enjoy your weekend!

I LOVE the statue photos! How fun. If I ever make it back to Chicago I'll have to check it out. I actually have wondered about the name for oyster crackers. We use them for soup too but nothing else.

I have never had oyster crackers...

really? I don't consider them very special. They taste like saltines to me. thanks

Good to hear of another person wondering about the names of things. It's a nice park with plenty of equipment and stuff for kids to climb on too. thanks

Confusing oyster crackers - don't you think? Oz park is a nice neighbor park but not a big tourist stop so I imagine few visitors ever stop there. I don't think there are any skates sold today that need a key. Roller blades took over the skate market. thanks

I love oysters. I can't recall ever eating oyster crackers. No matter, as I will continue to eat oysters with or without approved crackers.

Yours is the second comment saying they have never had oyster crackers. Now I'm wondering how widespread they are. They are just tiny crackers that have a strange name. I actually don't think the name has much to do with eating oysters. thanks

I have seen them, but never ate them. I think they came in little packets at restaurants, presumably to eat with soup. I guess they look like little oysters.

After you left your comment I did a little searching. The origin of the name is not certain but it could be - their use in oyster chowder or their shape and size.
We buy them all the time.

Love the Oz pix - especially the ruby red shoes.

I first had oyster crackers in oyster stew and just assumed they were first created for oyster stew and thus the name. But what do I know??

I love the Oz theme of your post. How whimsical to have an Oz Park in your city! I've had oyster crackers. I like them with clam chowder. That's not such an odd piece of trivia about the Walking Dead audience increasing during our government shutdown. All our congressman sitting there getting a paycheck while doing nothing productive for us (their bosses, supposedly) are like the sitting dead, so...makes sense.

I think you are right about the oyster cracker name but then it could be the shape of the cracker. Do you have red shoes? thanks

A congress of zombies - you might be on to something. The OZ writer (name doesn't come to mind at the moment) has a connection to Chicago. thanks

I never met a cracker I didn't like! Great pictures...I have never been but looks like a fun park to visit! Happy Sunday!

Oz Park, in Illinois. We have several Oz Museums here in Kansas but I didn't realize there were parks elsewhere. That shouldn't of surprised me as Baum moved to Chicago from S. Dakota.

I loved those old metal skates with a key when I was a kid.

As far as oyster crackers...I never cared for them. If I were to have crackers I wouldn't want them floating in my soup.

I've been told by She-who-knows that I have a little soup with my crackers. Soup always needs crackers. I'm impress with your knowledge of Mr. Baum. Heck I couldn't even recall his name. From my visit to the park I did know he had a connection with Chicago.

I'm the same way with crackers. I did meet a stale cracker once that was unpleasant. thanks

Nope; no ruby slippers, and I've never lived in Kansas, but I do like oyster crackers with my chili. Love the photos! I hate it when old posts lose their links! grrr

There are all types of maintenance in our world and blog maintenance is one that doesn't get much notice. I know I have broken links and fix a few once in awhile. The reason for these broken picture links was a good one. I had stored those pictures on a domain name I obtained because I once had this biz idea (never short on ideas just the harder phase of implementing) that was short lived. So I took advantage of the free photo album that was offered with the domain name. Out the blue came a request to buy the domain name. A little cha ching later and I had sold my first domain name. This set of photos were on that old photo album.

Maybe you should get some ruby slippers. You already have the little dog. thanks
