friday fragment spectrums

I’m reading a book. (what you only thought I read blogs and newspapers?) The book is titled “Spectrums” by David Blatner. It examines the universe by comparing the spectrum or range of values of distance, sound, heat, etc.

You will find a spectrum of fragments at Mrs. 4444’s blog on Fridays.

Once Mrs. 4444 gave me the finger. Actually it was her finger logic via a few comments. Today’s FF post offers you Mrs. 4444’s logic for ranking the importance of your fingers. Seriously where on the spectrum of fragments would you place info like that?

Mommy's Idea

Here at the Institute for Better Postings (I should have used that as a blog name), I started noticing a drop off in blog visits. Taking the lighten-it-up approach, I reported my finding in a post on my rarely seen blog, “I Can’t Blog”. I was pleasantly surprised that a few readers did read it and shared their comment. A few comments confirmed my findings that there is a general loss of the blog linky feeling within the online world. Who knows maybe my post brought back that blog linky feeling for a few.

I found this picture from a favorite creative person, Terry Border, (Bent Objects) to be very informative. Really who knew?

I’ve never step foot in Ikea but I’ve been to Hooters. I thought about studying at Hooters once but could not figure out how to sell the idea to my wife.  (oh studying the wings of course)

I’ve mentioned Ikea in a post or two before. Do you search your own blog? I search my blog when I remember writing about a topic but can’t remember when or what exactly I wrote. I can only imagine how difficult finding a piece of past prose was for writers back before computers and word processing. I found my Ikea fragment of a thought back in a FF post written last year.

The reason I included this a shareable fragment today was not the Ikea fragment but the comment/reply exchange I had with Mrs. 4444. You could browse back to that post, but I’ve copied the essence of the exchange for you:

Mrs. 4444 - “...(good commenting words)...... I am definitely feeling my age this week--I was trying to muscle-open a jar of garlic when I heard and felt a "pop" in my fingertip; I've been wearing a finger brace ever since....”
Lisleman - “Ouch - hope your finger is feeling better.... (blah, blah, blah)....”
Mrs. 4444 - “Thanks. It's better but will need more healing time. At least it wasn't a super important finger.”
Lisleman (note, I found this ranking of fingers odd and funny - how about you?) - “wow I never thought of ranking my fingers.”
Mrs. 4444 - “Come on...You know what "the" finger is; that one's pretty important for driving, and of course the thumb isn't a finger so doesn't count. A teacher has to have a pointer finger for shaking at kids, and how could I drink my tea without a pinky? That leaves the ring finger, and although mine holds an important object, that object could easily be on any finger, so that's the least-important finger.”
Lisleman - “IMHO - this explanation is worthy of a post. I would have thought pinky but of course would have never thought about it in the first place. thanks”
Mrs. 4444 - “Sounds right up your alley, Bill. Go ahead.haha :)”
Lisleman - “Ok but I thought you would since it was your explanation. Oh and your finger.”

never been to ikea but I have to Hooters. We grabbed some wings there a couple of weeks ago. It was actually my idea. And the girls there? NEVER look as good as the ones on the Hooters posters. Just saying....

The lack of blog connection seem to happen right around the same time twitter became super popular. I think there just isn't enough time for everything. At least not in my world. :D

I went to Ikea once, with my daughter. I had the choice of staying in the car or going in. Staying with my book would have been the better choice. Oh, well.

If you never have to go to Ikea, don't!

thanks for the advice/warning ;)

One time I did stay in the car. It was quick because my wife was just meeting her brother there or something like that. thanks

I have not been in a Hooters for a few years. I was not impressed with the food. It was ok. You are right that time is limited. I think most of the blog decline is due to smartphones. thanks for taking some time here.

I've never thought of ranking my fingers, but I agree with her explanation! I always wondered how Raisinettes were made... hehehe

Hope this detail info doesn't ruin your Raisinette eating enjoyment. thanks

good one - your ranked fingers. I never expected stories of lost fingers being shared on this post. thanks for sharing.

I guess I don't what I'm missing. No, I do know, money spent on things I don't need. thanks

I lost the use of my right pinky in 1985. It is still attached to my hand for decorative purposes. The other three are all important to me.

hahaha, love that ranking.

I as most people I suspect, take things like moving all our fingers for granted. As I age I've noticed two fingers starting to get less movement in the joints nearest the tips. My curiosity has me thinking of more questions for you but there is no other reason for me to ask. thanks for sharing.

thanks - I find it very silly.

Yes, on occasion I do look back at my blog. It's a great way to remember stories of the past. I also like seeing how my boys have grown.
I will not step foot into a Hooters. But then again, I don't like wings. LOL

Really no Hooters visits? What if you had a coupon? I think their wings are ok but if you don't like wings I understand.
I just took a closer look at your blog page. Both the archive and tag/labels help going back to older posts but a search gadget on your side list would help even more. Blogger offers one.
thanks
