fraternity fragment parties

I never even considered joining a fraternity. I never felt part of that crowd but if the movies like Animal House have any truth, they knew how to throw parties. Mrs. 4444’s Friday Fragment (FF) mixer hosted on her blog while virtual and tame in comparison to a toga party, might just have a few wild links.

Mommy's Idea

Blogging attention disorder (hey get your own personalized disorder here)

Just this week I had a where-was-I blog moment. A first time visit to a blog with an engaging guest post is what I can recall. The topic was about turning 40 which is an event too long ago for me to barely remember anymore. The post triggered a lengthy comment full of brilliant wisdom (I’ll be the judge of my own wisdom). I wanted to go back and check for a reply, but just can’t remember enough to find my way there.

Squirrel!   Did you see that?

What a squirrel?

Not just a squirrel.
No that was a gangsta squirrel,
he just flipped me off with his tail.
Why I’ll whip you like
a rag doll in a terrier’s mouth,
you jump any closer.

I took the above MM related picture back in 2011. (the post behind the pic) One of our daughters (one of ones that read this blog) remembered my post and stumbled onto the following pic below. She knew I would like it and shared it with me on FB. Some days you are just going to get wet so stop hiding under Marilyn’s dress.

Just think
about ink
and a link

Has anyone gotten a barcode/QR code tattoo that links to a personal page?

Has the tattoo fad reached an absurd level? From the images I’ve seen on the web people have barcoded themselves. I don’t have any ink but plenty of age spots. I’m a natural sorta guy. Even though SF 49ers lost in the power-delayed exciting superbowl last Sunday. The tatoo artist used by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick became a big winner. It’s been reported there is a 4 month wait to get inked by the artist. I don't think that artist had anything to do with this ink.

PYTHON-A-PALOOZA Had you heard about the python challenge offered last month in the Florida everglades. I was fortunate enough to have visited the everglades a few times. If you didn’t know, this invasive species are overrunning the area. It sounded intriguing and adventurous. Apparently the snakes are difficult to find. Nearly 1,500 hopeful hunters registered but only around 50 snakes have been turned in and the challenge ends Feb. 10.

let me set the tail down so I can get a better shot

I’m still blogging yeah yeah yeah I mangled another oldie but goodie song this past week. Here’s the link if you want to see the whole mess.

Oh no I said too much. I haven’t said enough. (R.E.M)

I think I would have my QR code go to random websites each time.

lisleman said...

Maybe you could have it pull up your browser history.
thanks

Eek! I hate snakes-- they give me the creeps.
But I LOVE that Marilyn photo. What a crack up!

The nice thing about FF - plenty of variety for all. thanks

The whole snake thing is gross. But if they are invasive, I am glad they are getting removed.

I have done that before. Engaged with a blog and then completely forgotten where that was...

Ah, the toga parties of 1961 were the best. I think it took us longer to fasten those sheets demurely than any other part of getting ready. I was a coward; I wore black tights. Fats Domino and the twist...long time ago.

lisleman said...

Maybe not a coward but a smart girl who didn't want that type of exposure. More twist than toga in my background. thanks

lisleman said...

What surprised me and apparently many hunters was how hard they are to find. I suggest we call it link amnesia disorder LAD. Good now I can file for grant money. thanks

Are you trying to KILL ME? I have a huge phobia of snakes and you just sent me to hysterics!

Also, the toga party.........In high school, I partied with some cool people. Every one of their parties were themed and I went to a Toga Party! So much Fun!

lisleman said...

Sorry I don't care much for them either. Think toga party - no snakes.
thanks for sharing your phobia.

I don't have any ink either, and don't plan to. Love both those photos of Marilyn!

Yes! Tattooing has reached a CRAZY level! I'd be so scared to do something that permanent with my body.

Laurie Matherne said...

Can't say how funny that pic is of the people huddled under Marilyn's hithers. My memory bank is permanently scarred.

lisleman said...

Older guys like me associate the tattoos with drunken sailors so there's no appeal.

lisleman said...

I agree about it being so permanent. I would look even more of a clown if my 70's fashions were permanent. Long term thinking is probably not a big skill of tattoo buyers.

treinke said...

Why would anyone want to be barcoded with a tattoo? In case of emergency perhaps? Or maybe to easily identify their body after its been buried without id?

lisleman said...

Yeah I would love to hear the conversations going on under there. George stop looking up at her panties, you're embarrassing me!

lisleman said...

I guess just to be different. Maybe if you were identical twins. The weird things people do never stops. thanks

jodaley said...

I feel certain someone out there is barcoded. I love the MM photo with everyone under her dress!

lisleman said...

thanks for dropping a comment off here. Now that I've wasted a bit of time thinking about this, I would think it would be very hard to do a good barcode on skin.

Like that squirrel's attitude!

lisleman said...

thanks - It's funny how we add ideas to common things we see.

I am sure if you thought your comment was full of brilliant wisdom...it was. On a few occasions, I too, have come across a blog that I enjoyed and then been unable to find my way back. Aggravating.

Love the picture of MM in the rain. I did a post about that statue quite awhile ago. It was funny that while I was doing my research nearly all the pictures had men under neath it looking up her skirt.

Those snakes....EWWWW **shudder***

lisleman said...

Did you happen to click over to my post about the statue? I will check out your post on it. The snake picture is getting a predictable reaction.
thanks

I think I'll pass on becoming a python wrangler...thanks, but no thanks!

lisleman said...

thanks for dropping off a comment. I would pass on python wrangler too but being the camera man might be ok. The everglades is a wonderful different place to see.

I feel really hesitant about the whole tattoo a barcode or QR code on the arm deal. I wonder if that is how the mark of the beast (from Revelation) will be administered.

Yikes!

lisleman said...

I had never thought of that connection. Seems like too much bother when a much simpler mark would work. As you can read in my replies tattoos have no appeal for me.

thanks

When I forgot what blog I was on that I wanted to go back to days later, I checked the history on my web browser and was able to find it that way. Did you try that?

lisleman said...

thanks that might of worked if I kept my history. I don't. I like to start fresh but I know google keeps a history. I'll take a look there thanks.

I have definitely exlerienced the spacing out about how to get back to a blog thing. If you used Disqus to comment, that would be a great way to retrace your steps.
Loved the rainy Marilyn photo!
Party on! (Excellentt.)

Peggy Cameron said...

Lots of variety in this post Bill!

I repinned your Marilyn photo in the rain, I thought that was a great photo.
And now I have just pinned Elton John's Candle in the wind....excellent video.
Whenever possible I subscribe to comments on posts I comment so I don't have to remember where I have been on the blogosphere.

Your squirrel verse made in chuckle.

lisleman said...

The subscribing to comments would solve that problem but I rather just read the comments I want to at the blog than have more email to sort through. The Disqus (when it's working - that's an issue lately) system works well when the other blogs also use Disqus. Overall it's not a big deal. I'm glad you pinned the picture and when back to check the earlier post.
thanks

Looking at that squirrel lounging on the railing like he owns the place makes me want to scream "Get off my lawn!" at him. A squirrel once teased one of my cats by eating a bagel on top of our a/c window unit. Oh, boy, my cat was pissed!

Bar code tattoos? I've seen them but thought they were people just trying to be clever. I didn't realize they actually worked.

Now if they made that python challenge into a python blog challenge, I might sign up!

lisleman said...

python blog challenge ?? how would that work?
Your cat and squirrel - funny.

Bee said...

Well, I didn't exactly think it all the way through! It just sounded cool. lol

lisleman said...

yes it does sound sorta cool. Pythons, jaguars, tigers, sharks and few others do bring up adventurous connotations. Often I feel more like a sloth or snail challenge.
