so cold I see my fragments

Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow! (Frank Zappa)

Mrs. 4444 lives in a land suitable for huskies. Her treadmill-running dogs are not huskies but they probably make yellow snow. Hot or cold you can find your type of fragment over at her Friday Fragments collection.

Mommy's Idea

Recently someone’s blog post about being a morning person gave me an idea of using time zones to my advantage (if your blog post was the one please remind me). Use some other time zone when you tell people what time you woke-up. Located in the central time zone and using Pacific time allows me to appear as a morning person. 5 AM HAST (Hawaiian time) sounds early but allows sleeping until 9 AM when my bed is in the CST zone.

It feels a little wrong to complain about the cold wintry weather because we have had so little of it this winter. We had a good cold spell this week.

Non bloggers probably would not understand and possibly not believe anyone learns anything through blogging. I have. Hopefully once upon a time, a reader learned something here. This past week I learned the term “duckface”.

Here’s another term you might not know (unless you are a UK reader). Just my minor effort to help educate the masses (sounds better than the “few readers” scrolling by). Over in the UK they don’t care for fly-tipping. They want citizens to report fly-tipping if they see it. I know you might see cow-tipping here but I understand that’s done at night. Fly-tipping is different. Probably occurs in broad daylight, we just call it something else.

It would be nice to see a stray tropical drink on the weather map. Didn’t Frank Sinatra sing it so true? “I’ve got you under my gin”

Fly-tipping? Is that something like our garbage bulk day? I wonder why they call it 'fly-tipping'. Did someone tip over the garbage and all the flies scatter? LOL

I hadn't heard of fly tipping so I naturally had to go over to Google to find out exactly what is was.

So yes...I did learn something new from your blog today. Funny name...fly tipping. At least when Americans say cow tipping were are really talking about tipping over cows.

You are just now hearing about duckface? It's a fad I would love to see end as quickly as possible.

Yes I admit I did not know of duckface. Now my grandkids would quickly tell you I enjoy making duck noises but not duckfaces. The facial expression of course has been around since pictures were taken. I think there might be a "duckface" pic of Farrah Fawcett. I'm guessing duckface became popular because of facebook which maybe should be renamed duckface. I agree it's a dumb look but there are dumb people so it probably goes well together.
thanks

It is related to garbage but not tipping in the sense of falling. I gather "tipping" can mean throwing something out the car window and it's done "on-the-fly". Hey it's a British thing. While I enjoy their humor (humour) I don't always get their slang. I could say WTS for "what the shag" but I'm not sure they do.
thanks

hit the link but it doesn't define fly tipping. so, what is it?

The picture of the garbage pile should give you a big clue. It's littering, illegal dumping. At first I thought the "fly" part was from the attraction of flies to garbage as in "flies on sh--". I guess it comes from "on-the-fly".
thanks for asking

Yes Mr. Google is good with answers. A friend of the fly tipping opponent? Who might that be?
thanks

I had no idea what fly-tipping was, I followed your link and still didn't know so I googled. I guess we just call that "drive-by dumping" over here.

Your winter photo is a wonderful example of sastrugi. I always LOVE it when I can use that word. Know what sastrugi are? Maybe YOU'LL need to google.

those stiletto fins are da bomb.

thanks - I took a look. SO many duckface pictures and so many bad ones.

Honduras is renowned for fly-tipping. People eat out of fly-tipping areas. They shop there, and they live there. It's really quite interesting.

My nieces make the duck faces I hate it....never see a normal picture with preteens or teens without that face! I'm not sure what fly tipping is so I need to check it out....okay i just read some comments...interesting! Stay warm and have a great weekend!

LOL the duckface picture is so funny and it's so acceptable to do. I had to google fly-tipping. I wish I could find a video of last night's episode of Watch what Happens LIve, they played a game where the star of Spartacus had to use in a sentence Australian slang words and the other guest had to guess what it was. They have some crazy slang in Australia. Yay! Nevermind, I found it. Check it out. http://video.tvguide.com/Watch+What+Happens+Live/Spartacuss/18135251?autoplay=true&partnerid=OVG

Brilliant intro, Bill--Very impressive, and I can relate! Thankfully, too, we got 3" of snow today (to cover up all the ugly yellow spots out there).

I clicked on the link but still don't know what fly-tipping is. Recycling?? Littering? Maybe I should go to bed...Thanks for linking up! :)

Waste collection is one infrastructure system that we take for granted. I think it makes a big difference in health and how people act.
thanks

High heels and tight shoes that smash your feet is one of the worst trends women go for. Yes you might need to pick the Japan time zone.
thanks

thanks for the link - good slang words and phrases for nasty stuff. If I ever visit down-under I'll be sure to use "nork" carefully.

That duck face cracked me up!! And I think that's a great idea to use a different time zone when relaying what time we woke up.

sounds like a duck and takes duck face pictures - must be a facebook dating kid. So what time zone will you be using?
thanks

Does "happy teacher" produce "upset parent" in this case?
