quick midwest travel weekend

We just got back from a fun quick trip within the Midwest.  I'll be posting more pictures from this small city we visited.  I had never been there before and thought it might be more of a sleepy little town.  No, it's certainly a city, having a population in the hundreds of thousands.  Their population more than doubled this past weekend.

As I sort through the pictures, I'll try to add my opinion and wild speculation for your enjoyment.  For example, the creator of this apron was probably a den mother.  Don't you think?

mom's a trooper

I promise you more pictures this week.  But first, please make a guess of what Midwest city I visited.  I'll answer the guesses and provide additional clues in the comment section.

I have no idea whatsoever but glad you had a great weekend away. I look forward to hearing where it was you went and seeing some pictures.

Madison or Peoria. The former because Wisconson didn't cross my mind. Peoria because I wonder if it's as interesting as its name.

Very interesting art.

wrong state - need to go on the other side of the lake

I assume you mean the two towns found Wisconsin and Illinois. No, wrong state. But I think, Madison might be about the same size. I've been to Peoria but can't say I found it that interesting. "if it plays in Peoria" is a phrase with some history but I don't think Peoria is an accurate predictor for shows or products.

I have no idea what city it could be because I know hardly anything about the midwest! But that top photo intrigues me, and I love that apron! Aren't those Girl Scout sashes, though, with the little stars under the 626?

Yes those look like Girl Scout sashes connected to an apron. So you don't call a Girl Scout group a "den"? I guess not. So it just called a "troop"? My mistake. The top one is a piece of art suspended across the city street. It was hard to tell from my angle but I think the man is holding on with one hand. I'll be post more pics soon. No one has come back with the right state yet. hint read my replies.

I am not guessing because I have no idea and am perfectly fine waiting until you tell me. Nope, I'm not doin' it.

I thought I might be post the other pictures later tonight but now it doesn't look likely. If you want to search it, look up artprize.
thanks
