facebook friday

Free flowing fragments from the far side in formation on this blog.

If you like FF posts then be sure to visit Mrs. 4444's  blog. She has a whole catalog of FF links to share. That’s a share unlike the Facebook shares being offered in Facebook’s IPO frenzy.

Mommy's Idea

The big news in Chicago this weekend is NATO. A whole section of downtown will be in a security lock-down. There are now 28 member states in NATO. While in USAF I had a trip (TDY - temporary duty assignment) to visit 3 NATO countries, Greece, Turkey, and Italy. I posted a story about my Greek visit involving wine and a young Lieutenant. Ankara Turkey (important place to watch the Soviets from back then) felt like a step back in time when I was there in 1983.

Pleasant weather to sit on the deck, drink beer and blog. I once thought about a beer blog. Like many my beer drinking started before I was legally allowed. Now looking back I realize it wasn’t so much beer as just cheap liquor. Boone’s Farm wine, Stroh’s, Milwaukee’s Best and a few others that were cheap. Now I realize they were mostly tasteless too. Good beer comes in a bottle or on tap.  It is best enjoyed from a glass (same reason as wine).

What are the odds? Teen buys a stolen ID and uses it at a bar only to discover that it belonged to the bar’s bouncer. He was charged with theft and illegal use of another person's ID. I can hear now - “Your honor, I was only trying to return it to its owner.”

At the start of the month I posted about Marilyn leaving Chicago. I wonder if any NATO people were hoping to see her. The statue’s new city will be Palm Springs, CA. She will have plenty of sunshine down there. I found a picture of her falling to pieces when they told her to leave.

Wow if Marilyn's pose was famous before, your picture of her falling to pieces should make all of the tabloids!!!  Have a great weekend.  W.C.C.

It is strange to see her in pieces.

I prefer my beer in the bottle than in a glass.

I can't stand beer in a can! But when I was a teen you drink it anyway you can get it...remember those Micky wide mouth beer...nasty!
Cool picture of Marilyn moving....hope she like sunny California! Have a wonderful weekend!

It depends what you are doing at the time but the aroma from the beer adds to the flavor of it.  Just like wine does.  You should buy some flavorful beer and try the difference.
thanks

Yes I agree. Also young drinkers often try to drink it as fast as they can which doesn't offer them any taste and it can be dangerous.  Completely different reason for drinking it.  Have a great weekend too.

I hate beer. And it is very popular here. When you are young you will stomach any of it I agree. Sounds like you had some interesting travels. I always wanted to visit Turkey. Poor Marilyn she looks like half the woman she was. Have a great weekend. You must be getting good weather to be blogging al fresco.

Reading this while enjoying a Blue Moon Ale. I read about the kid with the stolen ID. Great story, isn't it?

ID story - I hope the kid learned a lesson that he will be able to tell his grandkids some day.

I didn't know Marilyn was leaving Chicago! I guess the way she's dressed, that's more appropriate. Just did a quick catch-up of your last few posts. Totally agree with you on the comment moderation and good point on Facebook and G+.

Yes she was not dressed for the cold weather but the Windy City did blow her dress up quite a bit.  Thanks for doing a catch-up on the other posts.  all the best
