Twas the Fragment before Christmas

Getting a break from their spouse,
bloggers were stirring, grasping their mouse.
The fragments were posted on their blog with care
in hopes that Mrs. 4444 soon would be there.

Well I don’t think you would call Mrs. 4444 a little old driver (I would not) but I bet she probably is so lively and quick. Post some fragments and she will hang them up on her blog.

Both my wife and I were attacked by an unseen microbe this week. She was hit first then a little more than 24 hours later I turned a Whiter Shade of Pale. I could write a vomit post but who wants that?  I’ll skip the light fandango, but I was sprawled across the floor.(maybe I'll add a youtube clip of the song)

(how about words for dividers?)

My MIL is trying to get lucky on the internet. Wait! I mean, she is lucky to get on the internet. It’s all a big confusing pain and her hand-eye coordination doesn’t go well with her laptop touchpad. We suggested a regular mouse and have one she could use but she doesn’t want to even try it. She calls me to check email and then complains about the message a woman wrote her.

Many of you followed my 12 days of Christmas posts. Thank you, it was fun to do. Day eleven had me wondering what to write. I consider day six my best one. The different days’ posts were not connected together but other bloggers strung them together as a bigger story. The song needs a rewrite.

“Twas the night before Christmas” is one of the most parodied poems out there. I did a parody of it years ago about computers and dial-up modems which I have since lost. If any of you have a rewrite of this classic poem please leave a link in the comment section, I would love to read it.

A very classy version of "A Whiter Shade of Pale". Skip to about 1:30 mark to hear the start of singing.

I had something called The Flu and that thing knocked me out big time.  So mad I had the vaccine and STILL ended up with The Flu.

We thank ye for not detailing your vomit into a long post.

I love all the parodies of The Night Before Christmas, one of the only things I was ever able to commit to memory.  It's not that handy to know, compared to Casey at the Bat, or The Raven---but my memory has always been resistant.  Happy Whatever You Celebrate.

Unseen microbes, vomit and "The Night Before Christmas"......you have it all covered here. I hope the microbes have gone away and you are feeling good.
I love your MIL having you check her e-mail and then complaining to you about what someone wrote.

thanks - genius is a little over the top but I'll take it.

When I look at it from her perspective which is difficult she is trying something completely foreign to her so I should respect her effort.
thanks

Different varieties of flu I guess.  These bouts of sickness seem to be rougher as we age too (not that we have aged - of course not)
thanks

It was for my benefit too, I didn't want to remember all of it.  thanks

The Raven - I have not heard that knocking at the door in a long time.  You should do a parody of that one.  thanks

all covered?  Yeah we had to clean up.
e-mail complaining - has me wondering if she likes me reading it so she has someone to complain with.  thanks

Loved your parady on The Night Before Christmas, very witty!  Sorry to hear you were srruk down by the lergy - but at least you've got it out of the way before Christmas, eh?  Hope you and yours have a fun, happy and HEALTHY time of it.

Oh the timing of it was very fortunate with the activities going on.  But is that not like saying well good thing you had your car accident on the way home for work instead of the other way around?
Thanks you have a Happy Christmas too.

This is great, very funny. My MIL does not use a computer, she has only recently begun using her cell phone. So yours is a step ahead.

Glad you are feeling better. Microbes are mean little suckers.

My MIL has a computer but does not use it. In many ways I am very grateful for that. :)

Hope you and your wife are feeling better!
Have a great weekend!

thanks  -  I assume your MIL is not one of your blog followers.

Now that the cellphone usage is prevalent throughout the whole I find it odd that anyone would not be using one.  Now smartphones and texting and all those additional features is another story.  I was helping her the other day clear a text message.
thanks

we are for the most part  -  of course we still have each other to comfort and irritate one another.

I yiyi, that nasty bug is going around.  I'm sorry you and your wife got hit and I hope it didn't last too long.  I'm praying it doesn't pay my husband and I visit.

Cheers, jj

The nasty part was hours long but I found it odd that after that part was more or less settled we both had coughs and running noses.  I would not wish it on anyone.  Hopefully you have safe and pleasant travels over the holidays.
thanks

Funny fragments as always. I think your MIL secretly wants a secretary. Oh no! The microbe attacks. I hope you're feeling better. I have to go back and read your 12 days of Christmas posts. Especially 6. I'm not much of a poetry parody-er. My husband's so good at it. Maybe one day it'll rub off.

He did write a parody of the 12 days of Christmas a few years ago. It's pretty funny, I'll have to post it.

Your first frag reminds me of when The Boy was in Kindergarten, told me he didn't feel well, and I made him go to school anyway. He threw up all over the cafeteria and then wrote a story about it, with a picture... I will have to find it and upload it... the picture is PRICELESS.  Last year I did the same thing to The Girl, except by then, I was teaching at their school... do you know how many different people call you when it's your kid that made the mess and you work there... 4, in five minutes... *SIGH* I take them more seriously now :)

lisleman said...

thanks for sharing that - I bet we all would love to see this vomited the cafeteria picture he drew - I would.  Tough decision about sending kids  that claim they don't feel well.

lisleman said...

I hope to read it soon.  Remind me when you post it.
I don't have the legs of a secretary.  thanks
