No Friday Fragments from Samoa

Mrs. 4444 collects fragments for Friday consumption but it is good thing she does NOT live in Samoa. My first fragment explains why I know this.

Mommy's Idea

If I could turn back time - I’d look a lot younger.

Did you hear about the island nation of Samoa time zone decision? They changed their minds about which time zone to live in. They are not turning it back but pushing it forward by a whole day. They will skip Friday this week. They will go from Thursday right into Saturday. If they would have consulted me I would have strongly suggested skipping Monday.

One interesting outcomes besides not having Friday Fragments is the fact no one will be born or die on Dec. 30, 2011 there because the day never existed. I hope this day change does mess-up their Girl Scout cookie exports.

Quick pop quiz - what group burned down the house, asked to be taken to the river, but ended up on the road to nowhere?

what is that growing OUT OF MY EAR?

LISLE - Recently while shaving Lisleman discovered a hair more than an inch long growing from the edge of his ear. He quickly yanked it out and he is reported to be doing fine. However he blew his chances in next year's hairy ears contest at the Moose Lodge.

I can’t seem to wrap my noodle around the following which I am sure you have come across too. Why do younger (below 40) people rush around in a bigger hurry than older (over 60) people?

Certainly the younger ones have more time in their future than the older ones so logically it is the older ones that should be in a rush. Don’t the older ones want to get it all in before the plug is pulled? But since we are a very automobile society maybe it’s better to not have the older ones speeding around in their Buicks. I’m thinking of moving to Samoa.

Moving to Samoa got me thinking of becoming an immigrant. Did any of the Vikings from Minnesota (land of ice and snow) ever invade a warmer place?  Nevermind - watch this.

Hehe so funny Lisleman (luckily I did not mention the wrong name), your Friday Fragments are awesome.  For a moment I thought the below 40 go after the above 60, and wondered what happen to the 40 to 60? I can't wait to go read about Samoa, wonder what made them do that.

thanks - you are an awesome follower and commenter.  God only knows who or what they are rushing around to get or find.  I wish I had acquaintances in Samoa because it would be fun to call them and describe the great day they missed.

That's very interesting about Samoa. I would have thought they should have skipped Monday instead too. what are they thinking?

:-)  Ya goof.

Minnesotans regularly invade Florida.

Younger people can't help but rush -- too many hormones.  Makes 'em nuts.  :-)

No December 30 in Samoa this year?  Weird.

I'm not as concerned about people being in a big hurry as I am wondering what everyone is talking about on their cell phones.  Why does it seem that everyone in every store is yakking away on their phone while they shop?  I've even seen people with their phone to their ear while they do their banking or order their food in restaurants.  I think it's rude.

Great FF. Funny that I also thought about Friday Fragments when I heard what they are doing in Samoa.
I love what pearlvz said about the Minnesotans invading Florida.

My husband just told me about Samoa's decision.  Wish we would decide to do away with Daylight Savings Time!  Why would they skip Friday?  Monday would've been my first choice!
Visiting from Mrs. 4444!

You win - you are the only one to remember to answer the question.  Such a focused mind.  thanks and Happy New Year.

You know the FF is a big thing for our blog community so it doesn't surprise me that the news gave you the same thought.  Well actually it does surprise me - really FF is that big?

I have not a clue if much thought went into selecting the day.  I agree about DST - it is of no use.

I found that picture on web years ago.  I bet someone's little sister was  very upset after it was made.

It is very rude to the people you should be engaged with.  If you are eating with someone then pay attention to that person.  If you are buying something then pay attention to the clerk.  Not every call need to be answered right away.  I think that is often happens - a call comes in and we are conditioned to answer it.  Also I does seem people are becoming ruder every year.
thanks Happy New Year

hormones - that sure gets blamed for many things -
"I could of been a contender - damn hormones"
Minnesotans - that's hard to spell you should just go by "vikings".
thanks Happy New Year

Hey everybody please welcome a first timer!  Now don't be shy or embarrassed.  Also don't pay much of any attention to what I write about you or anyone.  I'm glad to know you got a laugh - that's my mission.  Please take a look at my year end review of fragments -

thanks  -  are you putting a little pressure on me for 2012 FF posts?  No matter, I will be trying to keep the FF work going.  I sure hope Mrs. 4444 keeps it going.  I don't hear of Samoa mentioned much in travel suggestions but it certainly could be very nice there.  Just don't book your trip for a Friday.
Happy New Year

Yeah, but I forgot to capitalize the Heads part of Talking Heads. Must have lost my head there.

Oh Man how I do love videos featureing cats. Pop quiz answer: The Talking Heads. This post reminds me of the letter Hunter S. Thompson sent to the State Dept in the late 50's asking to made governor of American Samoa.

Both sad and exciting that Samoans didn't have a Friday to fragment this week. Thanks for sharing that bit of info, I love hearing about that kind of stuff.  The answer to your quiz is Talking Heads. My hubby is a HUGE fan. I imagine it's because he's from the '80s. I love David Byrne's version of Don't Fence Me In. Great video BTW I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm not a big fan of cats but combo with this song worked well.  You are right about the Talking Heads.  I didn't know that about Hunter Thompson.  thanks Happy New Year

Around here they RENAMED our beloved Samoa cookies.  I don't remember the new name because a) I suck at remembering names and b) I will eternally call them Samoas out of protest.

lisleman said...

now that you mentioned it, I think I remember some news about renaming cookies.  thanks

Talking Heads.

But that Viking Kittens made me laugh hard. I just posted it on a friend's page because I tease him about being a Viking.
